One note for Epic - the Humidor is for cigar smoking only. In December (and February), there are multiple signs on the doors and inside stating that cigarette smoking is not allowed there. Crew also frequently walked through and told folks. Great spreadsheet, by the way!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just got off of the Jade and there is no more smoking on Deck 12 the pool deck anywhere, and no more smoking at the Pit Stop on deck 13. The Pit stop smoking area was moved to a little spot under the stairs that go to the 14th deck. Its on the Starboard side of deck 13 more forward of the pit stop bar.

Just off the Bliss Spice H2O very small space for smokers standing elbow to elbow very crowded less than 150 square feet. No smoking cigarettes in Humidor unless you buy cigar. Smoking in casino for players only (enforced)

Thank you for the update! Spreadsheet updated with this information.

According to crowd-sourcing Bliss only has 1 unrestricted designated smoking area (H2O) with a ratio to smoking area of 600+/-  smokers. This should be a warning for anyone with significant issues with smoke to not enter H2O on the Bliss because the concentration of smokers in that area will be higher than most ships.

Just wanted everyone to see NCL's published policy as of today (3/11/19) which you can print and take on your cruise for clarification. I would be interested to know how ship personnel are responding on the Getaway, Breakaway and other ships with a Waterfront area given the reported discrepancies between policy and practice.

SMOKING
As the health and well-being of our guests and crew is of the utmost importance, Norwegian Cruise Line will institute changes to its smoking policy for all sailings on or after November 1, 2014. The specific changes prohibit smoking on stateroom balconies and limit smoking in the casino to players. On Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway, smoking on The Waterfront will be permitted on the starboard side, except by the outdoor dining areas. Public areas throughout all our ships are smoke-free. If you smoke regular or electronic cigarettes, you can do so in designated areas only. For more information on our smoking policy please click here.

Guests in the Garden Villas may smoke in their private garden and on their private sun decks.

Public areas throughout all our ships are smoke-free. If you smoke regular or electronic cigarettes, you can do so in designated areas only. If you prefer pipes or cigars, you can smoke in the Cigar Bar or designated smoking lounge. Smoking cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars and pipes is permitted in outdoor public guest spaces and open decks where designated by the ship's management based on the ship's specific characteristics and arrangement. Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is prohibited in or near venues serving food, the jogging track, outdoor sporting venues, The Haven outdoor areas and children's pool areas. On ships with The Waterfront, smoking is permitted on the starboard side excluding any food service areas. Active Casino players may smoke cigarettes in the Casino during gaming hours. Cigarette smoking is not permitted in any other indoor venue or location.

Guests are not permitted to smoke cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars or pipes in their staterooms or on their balconies. Cigar and pipe smoking in staterooms and on balconies is prohibited. Smoking inside your stateroom or on your balcony will result in a $250 USD cleaning charge added to your onboard account. If cigarette burns on furniture, linens, towels or carpeting are detected; guests will be advised and charged for the damages.

Electronic cigarettes cannot be used in public areas where there is a No Smoking policy in force; simply because these cigarettes look so realistic and therefore other guests' perception is that we are not enforcing the No Smoking rule.

1. The ship's dailies will state the current policy. Having a printed copy of an outdated policy won't matter.

2. A smoking policy can change from one week to the next. Someone (a smoker, TracyE) was on a B2B (Escape) and a place that allowed smoking on the first half didn't allow smoking on the second half.....

There is no smoking at all outside on the Waterfront. On the Escape T/A, smoking was allowed outside at the 5 O' Clock Somewhere Bar. The following week (Nov. 14th) for the inaugural cruise from Miami, smoking was prohibited there

...NCL's ship, NCL's rules.

Yes, this is a most helpful thread for both smokers and non-smokers.

Much thanks to my3sonsnj for keeping this updated for all.

Actually, a policy is not subject to weekly change. It is subject to an adoption procedure...just speaking as someone that was on a policy committee for 15 years and chaired the committee for 4 years.

Thank you for this spreadsheet. My husband vapes and we were on Breakaway last week.  As said earlier, waterfront was non smoking.

Spice H20, Box on Deck 15 by pool and casino while gambling- which we didn’t do.  Humidor cig and vape users were told to leave.

If if this keeps up, he’ll refuse to get on a ship.

True, NCL can't totally eliminate smoking. they would lose customers but it sure seems that they are putting the squeeze on smokers. I don't smoke but my husband does and we spend more time running around the ship looking for a smoking section.

So happy that both smokers and non-smokers are finding the spreadsheet helpful!!! 👍👍

Excluding those that are just intolerant of different lifestyles or expect others to conform to their needs, I think most of us just need information and transparency to set expectations and make decisions.

So Helpful! Thank you for doing this. With fewer places to smoke it helps knowing where i can still find a place to satisfy my habit.

I do miss the good old days when I could smoke on my balcony (sigh...)
