YC tender priority

Priority tendering is only for getting off the ship.  A butler will escort you to the front of the queue (if there is one).  You don't have to be booked on an MSC excursion to enjoy this benefit.  Black Card members of Voyagers' Club also enjoy this perk.

On our very first tender (we have only cruised 4 times), we were in YC and learned that exiting early was a 1 hour ordeal. But from YC, a  butler takes you out by hijacking the elevator, and ushering you through otherwise inaccessible doors. You end up at the front of the queue. From there, the butler used hand gestures to signal the crew that a few YC Pax’s were there.  From TopSail to tender in under 10 minutes.

We had priority both ways in Grand Caymen last year.

Look for a butler or staff member with the YC sign when on a island which tenders. They will take you to the front of the line for the next tender. When we were on Grand Cayman...very long lines and I estimate the YC privilege saved us atleast 45 min in waiting.

We've never had priority return tendering - Then again, we haven't sailed in YC in the Caribbean (yet!  Roll on Oct!).  MSC seems to do things a little differently in that region.

Interestingly, there's no mention of priority tendering in the list of YC benefits - it's only listed in the Black Card benefits and that's only priority for disembarkation tendering.

As with priority embarcation it's a privilege you've paid a premium for when booking YC.

When returning to the ship, even without a tender you have priority to board if you're YC. We did feel a little uneasy the first couple of times but soon got used to the privilege.

Another fabulous MSC consistency then Bea!

Is priority tendering really viewed as queue jumping?

Does it create animosity by those already in the queue ?

Yes!  :classic_biggrin:

Yes!  :classic_biggrin:

I do feel a little uncomfortable when being led by a butler saying "Excuse me, excuse me" as he wades through the crowds ... but I get over it!  😂

CF ... so true!  :classic_rolleyes:

I can feel that too but I have paid for it so why not do it?

The one thing we felt uneasy about, with YC status, was the elevator perk. We did it once, to see how it worked, but felt it discourteous to others on the elevator....we decided just to go with the flow after that.

I would feel a little uneasy being directed to the front of a long queue, maybe that's just me !

The butlers carry a paddle with the words 'Yacht Club' so perhaps it's an idea to carry a home made paddle with the words 'I know, but we have paid handsomely for this privilege'.

We have friends who only cruise in top suites who always waited in lines when returning by tender.

We loved this perk because it was difficult for my elderly mother to stand for too long.  Nobody seemed to mind in that case.

What about ships that don't have the Y/C only the Aurea?  Do you have any priority in tendering?

No ... only YC and Black Card holders get priority tendering off and only YC get priority tendering back to the ship (in some ports).

No. It's simply something that MSC gives to some guests and not others.

Not in my experience with MSC and NCL. Any animosity should be directed at the cruise-line, not the guest.

Not me.

Priority tendering, elevator priority, etc. is no different than using an exclusive sundeck or an exclusive pool.
