Bliss - Is there any cigarette smoke odor?

I have read several reviews of NCL Bliss in the review section. Not one person has mentioned a cigarette smoke odor in or near the casino. One person even mentioned that is was nice not to have any smoke odor in the casino. This sounds like it is too good to be true. Is smoking allowed in the casino? If yes, how is Bliss containing the cigarette smoke odor in the casino and the surrounding areas?

I just got off the Bliss and was impressed by the lack of smoke odor inside the casino.  However, the doors do open to the smoking section within the casino so there might be a slight odor of cigarete smoke wafting out.  But my clothes never smelled of smoke. Also, there were quite a few mornings I sat outside the cigar room, and occasionally a waft of cigar smell would come out. But overall a great improvement.

I'm not a smoker, but someone going with us on the Bliss is.  Just to clarify, the ONLY place on the whole ship she will be able to smoke is in that glass enclosed area in the casino, correct?  Not on the balcony or any outside areas.  She was asking me about that, and honestly I don't pay attention.  I saw this thread and figured it was a good chance to find out.   I assume that area is always accesible, 24/7?

If you walk past the doors to the smoking room (it is right by the main walkway area) you can catch some smoke. Also, if you sit in the non-smoking area directly across from the doors, you will often catch smoke. But further down the hall, the casino is pretty smoke-free and you definitely don't get it wafting into other areas of 6-7-8 like you do on the other Breakaway/Breakaway Plus ships.

My friend and I must just be really sensitive to the smell because we were going to have a drink at the Skyline bar but because it reeked in there, we went to the observation lounge instead which was an obviously better choice anyway.😊

I was on the Bliss last year. Not a smoker either but there were definitely a couple other places to smoke. There was an outdoor small smoking section in one corner of Spice H2O and at least one other little corner of somewhere that I can't recall.

Definitely can't smoke on the balcony. There are, I believe, two outdoor smoking areas on the upper decks. One by one of the bars above the pool deck and one at Spice H2O.

The smoking area in the casino is for active players when the casino is open.

This is bliss! NCL listened to their customers. Thank you NCL.

It will stay that way until the ship starts losing money. They they will open up more space for smokers. Do you remember when the Escape was a non-smoking casino?  Not many do because it did not last long. I was there when the wheeled in cases of ash trays and put an end to the smoke free casino.

my3sonsnj keeps an updated spreadsheet on smoking areas on NCL ships. Here is the link to it:

The casino is non-smoking except for an enclosed area. The whole time we were on the ship we never smelled any cigarette smoke!

Great for guests but I do home they don't make non smoking croupiers work that area.

Not sure one can say there is NO smoke odor in Casino. However it is pretty close to a non issue. You will smell some if you walk by the enclosed area if someone happens to be entering/exiting.

The Bliss is the best ship I've been on for lack of smoke smell in/around the Casino.

I smoke and have never been able to stand the smell and smoke in any cruise ship casino so I am glad to hear this. Can any smokers out there who have been in this smoking section tell me if it is nasty in that room? I have to imagine it is. For the occasional smoke it would be nice to not have it be gross.

As a non-smoker who only smokes on cruises, I can answer this very well. I have truly been a non-smoker outside of cruises for my whole life and only purchased 2 packs of cigarettes in the ports on my last Bliss cruise a couple weeks ago. My fellow travelmate(s) were none too pleased to witness this, but that's another story😈

Unfortunately both the casino and the H20 smoking areas are pretty nasty, even for smokers. The upshot about the H20 smoking area is that among the most fun people hang out there 🙂

For non-smokers, hanging out in the areas near the smoking room is generally OK. Including the Skyline Bar and the corridor near the smoking room. I played slots in both those areas and hardly smelled a thing. However, if you're really sensitive, you may notice something.

I understand the Humidor smoking lounge is ONLY for cigars - however I was only TOLD this and did not confirm it firsthand, as I only smoked in the casino and the H20. Also, I was told by another passenger that you must be actively playing in the casino smoking room to be allowed to smoke there.

Good luck!

This is great info. Thanks so much! I do understand that the smoking room in the casino is for those gambling. Not a problem. I will bring pennies. Ha ha. Just kidding. 😉

You may jest but it is really NO JOKE!!! I was with a smoker on the Bliss @ Smas 2018 and she went in to smoke and immediately won $850 on her first round. I was astonished.

The machines in that area start at $0.30 minimum, good luck 🙂
