Shareholder stock credit denied...anybody else experience this?

Hello. We are very frequent cruisers and have loved the CCL  credits for being stockholders. We were offered a casino rate for a cruise coming up in a few months. We were denied the 100.00 credit  because "we already got a great deal" and anyone with a "reduced rate" doesn't qualify.

Yes, we got a reduced rate, but still are spending over 1000.00 dollars, so certainly not a "free" cruise by any means.

I called corporate investor relations and was given the run around...first the "you already got a great deal" then something about compliance, then you sent it too early and it has to be less than 3 weeks due to needing the most current stock portfolio paperwork. So, which is it? Who doesn't sail at some sort of reduced rate is what I asked. Whether resident rate, senior citizen rate, special promo rate...probably very few sail at a not reduced rate, yet she quoted the corporate paperwork saying anyone on a "reduced rate" doesn't qualify. This is our 22nd cruise. We aren't new to this, but the first time refused. I'm frustrated because it seems like an arbitrary decision. Thoughts?

You wrote, "Yes, we got a reduced rate..."

The shareholder benefit rules say, "Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer."

Seems clear to me.

As 4*, we also love the extra OBC.  I believe the difference is in the Casino Offer that you booked under.

I too received  an exclusive limited time offer as a casino guest (free inside G) .. but we upgraded to a higher category room ... payable on booking (no changes allowed).   This cruise (12/19) is not eligible for the CCL shareholders benefit.  I inquired too, but knew it was iffy as outlined in the benefit pdf.

We have another cruise booked in Sept where we received a discount in the rate and received the CCL benefit.

Bottom line, the jury is still out on whether the 'free' casino special offer is a good deal ... for us. We still paid over 2 but are getting a stateroom that we will be happy staying in.

Enjoy your cruise.

I have had my CCL stock credit applied to my cruises where I had a casino rate in the past.  I haven’t asked yet for the upcoming cruise but it’s always been approved in the past.

BUT, this is not the same thing as the casino offers (which offer free cruises for insides and reduced pricing for all other categories).  Those are special offers and very reduced pricing so, like TA rates, the credit will not be applied.

It is clearly written, but not often followed. Credit is given all the time to people on reduced rates. Who decides and where is the line drawn to break the "clear" rule?

And you know this how?  Do you have any proof that it's "given all the time to people on reduced rates"?

Another thought, I'm thinking that not as many people cruise on reduced fares as you seem to think do.

We have not yet been denied the stockholder credit when we have been on a casino RATE,  My relative who gets the casino OFFERS (free inside, greatly reduced other categories) has not been able to use his.  I guess they figure that if they let you use it, then with the inside cabins they would be paying you  to cruise!

We have also received the benefit twice while cruising on a casino RATE. We have never had a casino OFFER. We are on a casino RATE for an April cruise. Have already sent in and received confirmation for our stockholder OBC. I sent it in because it normally runs July to July and  I figured I would still need my existing letter.

Seems arbitrary to me. If I paid the upgraded amount for a cabin above the free inside, I am paying just as much as if I had booked regular fare for inside/ Oceanview. HAL is still getting the same amount of money from me, Neptune or inside. With no casino offer, say I would have paid $1000 and with the casino offer and upgrade I am still paying $1000. Why no stockholder benefit?

Ummmm.... because that's the rules?

That's the way the program is set up.  I don't think HAL is singling out OP to say "no" to.

I was wondering the same thing.

Just curious - What do you mean "not often followed" and the SB "is given all the time on reduced rates"? And, where did you get this info?
