Platinum/FTTF Early Cabin Access

Then why on earth would they purchase it?  I personally can't imagine why anyone would purchase something not knowing what it included.  I'm pretty sure no one would purchase an excursion without checking in to it to see what it entailed.

There are many reasons to purchase FTTF. On my first cruise on the Victory we purchased it mainly for the priority boarding and we didn't go to the cabin because the door was shut with a sign saying the cabins would be ready at 1:30. I know now to look on cruise boards but at the time I only went on the Carnival site and they don't have a lot of details.  Carnival just says the stateroom will be ready so how would you know to just open the door unless you see one of the stewards. The other thing that's confusing is when to board. The wording says you must select a boarding time so as a new cruiser you wouldn't know to know to ignore that and come when you want.

Yes, it shows you what you get but doesn't tell you the details. The door is closed so how would you know to open it.

We've had FTTF for several cruises and on our last cruise (Splendor) the sign didn't indicate that D/P/FTTF could enter and my husband felt really awkward going through the doors even though he knows we had access. Once I explained the key in the mailbox thing, and that our keys were available, he felt a bit better. However, when we got back through the doors to the elevator vestibule, some guest starting pointing at us and shouting at the crew member about why we could go to our room but they couldn't.

Ok so I am leaving on a 7 day cruise in two weeks, I will be Platinum for the first time!!!  I know in the past there was a Priority lounge at the port is this still true??? Whats in it???

Because it clearly shows that you have access to your cabin upon boarding.  "First Access to Stateroom
Your stateroom will be ready for you as soon as you board, so you can relax or freshen up for all the fun you are about to have."

 

 If you do research before you buy FTTF and know you are able to get early access to your cabin, a sign on the door saying they are not ready until 1:30 doesn't mean you can't go through them.

We have always chosen to get FTTF since it was offered-this is because my DH's health is not so great, and he needs to chill out before heading out for some fun.  This was of course before we became platinum.  We boarded in NOLA, the woman who was processing our cards said our cabin was ready.  Well they said in the sales info, your cabin would be ready.  It wasn't , and we went to gust services to complain.  I mean really not ready, nothing happened after our complaint until 3 days later.  They had to talk with the cabin steward, and he admitted the cabin wasn't ready, and we got an OBC for the money we had spent for the FTTF.

I can only speak for ports in Florida, but there is nothing special about the priority waiting area. At most ports, they just rope off a section of the waiting area for Platinums, Diamonds and suites.

Miami and Ft Lauderdale has a separate room.  Tampa was just a roped off area.  I can't tell you what's in them but I know they exist because we had to wait until they emptied out before we could board with FTTF.

Yea we had that happen on more than one occasion.  We just smile and show our platinum card while walking away :)

Jacksonville has a separate room with cold lemon water and snacks.  They have 2 dedicated desks to check you in.  Then groups are escorted onboard right after wedding parties, etc

I am not Platinum but the couple we are traveling with are and they are on the same deck we are.  Would we get in trouble if we went with them and left our carry ons in their cabin until we can get in ours? It is so awkward trying to eat lunch while still dragging around your carryon.

Just hand your carry ons to them to store in their cabin.  You can pick it up later whe n you have access to your cabin.

If you are with them you can go.  Otherwise, you go, then 2 more then another etc etc

I have 3 cabins booked. The first 2 were booked at the same time, and as soon as it was available I purchased FTTF for these 2 cabins. The 3rd cabin was added later and so for I have not been able to get FTTF for this cabin. The 3rd cabin is for a single mother and her 2 year old, who have never cruised before. I am guessing she will have to board by herself through a different area and we will not be able to be with her. Is this correct? My son was saying he will just check-in with her, but he is in my cabin with FTTF. Can he even do that? Any advice will be appreciated. I don't even know if I can cancel the FTTF if I wanted to, lol, though I don't really want to. Thanks in advance...!

You and your son can board with her assuming you are willing to wait for her boarding group.

Thanks for your speedy reply. I wasn't sure if my son and I had to be together when we check in, or if I could go ahead and check in and just meet them on the ship.
