Live from The Island Princess- October 17,2019

Embarkation in FLL -was very easy and fast.

We took Lyft from our hotel in Danica beach area- took about 15 min to enter port area and another 10 minutes to be dropped at the porter/ hand off large suitcases. No separate priority line to enter building. Went through security, then check in where there was priority lines, but there really was no lines anywhere .We were at the check in desk about 11:40am and onboard the ship at 11:45 am. Entered on deck 6 by the casino and EFFY.

In Bordeaux dinning room at 12:15 for lunch. Announcement came on speaker at 12:25pm that The staterooms where ready.

Captain is David Galloway and CD is Benny Yau and assistant Tom.

3:15pm the general emergency drill/ muster was held. No need to take your life jacket.Finished by 3:35pm.

First suitcase was by door after muster and second one about 4:30pm.

There is 90 Elite onboard.

Sea day today and cc meet up at 10 am in Wheelhouse bar.

Jamaica is first port on Saturday.

Why use such large font? It's kind of like shouting like all caps.

Sorry. It’s from my notes and cut and paste. When you are using ship minutes you try to be efficient, not like at home where you can check everything. I’m on free wi fi now in Jamaica.

Thank you for posting about the Island! I get so tired of all the complaints about her as we will be on her next fall for European Capitals. Looking forward to your review! In any size font.

Me too!  A year seems so long before this.  Really looking forward to this trip

Well it took me 4 days but I finally got Cruise Critic to let me log on.  I am on the Island also.  Having a great time.  I do have a question and I hope someone can answer me.  I am looking to buy Mexican Vanilla Extract, any suggestions on where to get it?  Anything I should look for or avoid?  I found Jamaican vanilla but didn’t know if it was as good.

Yesterday was Falmouth port stop. We took the 1 hour trolley inside the port gates which has a podium right outside terminal building. They will take you by golf cart or you can walk to where trolley is parked. $25.00 usd per person in cash or credit card. Very nice informative guide. Walked around minimally inside port shops. Visited Margaritaville for a local red stripe beer and Appleton rum banana drink. Used the complimentary wi fi.

NIce sea day today, little rockin going on. Plenty of things going on or not. We have relaxed today,to gear up for next 2 ports as they will be up very early days.

Had our “ gifted” balcony breakfast inside cabin as it was too hot out already by 9am and sun directed on port side. Wow it’s a lot of plates and food. Nice anniversary gift.

Tonight on smart casual night is the platinum and Elite Captains circle party. Only one party at 7 pm, it we have our dinner at 7:15pm, so....

Tonight is Troy Thirdgill back for a second show. We enjoyed him on the first evening and a cruise some time in the past. Show times in the Princess Theater seem to be at 7:30 and 9:30 in the evening.

We participated in the backstage tour today with manager Mark.Must have closed toe shoes.

Mary poppins returns was on the movies outside.

Caribbean bbq buffet in Horizon court tonight.

Also British pub lunch from 11:30am to 1pm in the Bayou cafe today.

The party was originally scheduled for 7 PM when the fixed seating times were about  5:30 PM and 8 PM. That allowed the single party to be between the fixed seatings.

Looks like when they changed the dining times to what they are now they did not bother to change the time of the CC party to between the new seating times.

What time is the platinum/elite/suite lounge each evening? Did they move that to a time both seatings could attend?

Last night was the only night for Platinum and Elite guests to attend the Captains Circle party, the Captain was indeed present. It was held at 7 pm on a sea day and non formal night. Only problem was that we have set dining at 7:15 pm,so we went in to the party quickly got a drink and a quick appetizer.  Missed any of the speeches. The Captains Circle could have held this party before 5 pm so all traditional diners could participate, but oh well.

We saw Troy Thirdgill the comedian again last night, we enjoyed him and the 9:30 pm show was very well attended.

Turned in laundry on Saturday morning and received it back Sunday night- great Elite turnaround as there is only approximately 90 Elite onboard. My mom and her husband got invited to the most travelled lunch which will be held on Thursday, October 24th. I believe that is a first time for them.

Arrived in Cartagena on Monday - today and all passengers can start disembarking at 7:15 am,wow some early mornings for us.

We plan to take a taxi to the walled city and walk around and then head back to the port to look at the aviary/ animals.

Tonight in the Princess Theater is Do you wanna dance and the times are different than other nights-6:30 pm and 8:30pm because of a 9:15 pm musical madness deck party.

Not sure I will be able to keep my eyes open for the party as we are in “ the Canal” early tomorrow,so up super early and a tour to start maybe around 9 am to 11 am to tender off ship.( depends on clearance of the Canal) I am not usually an early riser.

platinum,Elite, suite is held in Explorers 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
