ELITE plastered all over a suitcase

Everyone should wear a shirt that says Cruise Critic Review Pending,  or U-Tube Cruise Vlog - My First Princess Cruise - Followers 750K  It won't prevent Pompous People encounters, but we will probably receive exceptional service 😉🤣 And - you still maintain your status and perks.

Do you think that the person had elite status or the suitcase?  After all, the labels were on the suitcase and not tattooed on the person.

DON

Now, that's an interesting idea - a Princess Elite tattoo on your forehead!

We are elite, and were standing in the "Elite and Suites" queue at the pursers desk on our last cruise.  A lady came up and stood next to us, outside the queue rope.  When the agent became available, she started towards the desk.  The agent shook her head at her and motioned for us to come forward.  The lady said, "Well!  I guess this means I'll have to wait in line!"  I guess she thought she was Elite-er.  🙄

Why do some assume the only reason to wear a lanyard with a cruise card is to display their status?  I see many wearing lanyards that have no status.

Everyone has "status."  The "category" system is simply the way cruise lines attempt to keep passenger coming back instead of seeking travel experience on other lines.  As as with airline and hotel "status."  They offer "perks" passengers should already be getting, like laundry, implying cruise lines have taken away things on board that would normally be included to create "status."

My first "cruise" between Hawaii and San Francisco in 1946.  My dad had been reassigned to Miami and then we sailed on ocean liners for 10 years transatlantic.  The old Cunard Queens, SS America and United State, etc.  You paid for your cabin and so-called "status."  First Class required a tux for dinner, Second Class and Cabin Class did not.  "Classes" did not mix.  Some cruise lines are attempting to revive "classes" without reconfiguring ships.  It's likely that some cruise line will soon design a ship with distinct classes that limit/restrict access to different parts of the ship.  Rubys will not have to sit next to Elites anymore or vice versa.  We have a "friend" who is solely attempting to max cruise so she can be the top tier "Pinnacle" on Royal Caribbean.  Insane - and they can afford suites but instead covet inside cabins just to cure "points."  That is not what cruising offers to those who like to see the world.

We have to remember, the "tier" system is solely a financial one.  It doesn't make one "queen for the day or cruise."  Has no bearing on who you are and your value to humanity.

That doesn't address why some think that the only reason to wear a lanyard is to display status.

I never used to wear a lanyard as I had one at my job and it reminded me too much of that four letter word ... 'WORK".  Since the medallion came into play and now I am retired, that lanyard is just so very convenient.  I got a blue background for my  medallion holder so, hopefully others would just think I love the color of the ocean ... because I do!!  🙂

I just can't be bothered with those that think I am just wearing a lanyard to show off my tier level.

Agreed!  I never used a lanyard until the Medallion made it so convenient.

The association of lanyards with work was never an issue for us.  We were both accustomed to wearing one and it just seems so convenient.  We found hanging the lanyard on the doorknob was a great reminder to take it with  us.

That's why I love the medallion. I can just keep it in my pocket until I hit the casino. Anyone who needs to know who I am, knows

I meant to post this when we got home from our Thanksgiving cruise on The Regal.  When we got off the ship and were waiting for our Uber, there was a man pushing his way through the crowds, trying to get in front of people.  He had a suitcase with him and he had 5 or 6 stickers on his suitcase.  They were big white stickers with red letters and the word ELITE on them.   Seriously.   At first I thought it was a joke, but after watching him, he definitely looked like he felt superior to us lowly platinum people waiting for our Uber, LOL   But, seriously, who does that?

I wonder what that guy would have done on our recent cruise on the Emerald.  We were leaving from LA and when we got to the ship around 1:00 PM there were these huge lines waiting to get into the terminal let alone the ship.  Your "status" with Princess did NOT matter.  elites, platinums, magenta, gold or blue everyone was mixed in the line.  This guy would have gone crazyl.
