Celebrity Summit after her Revolution Renovation - Review

Hi Guys,

My partner Jimmy and I sailed aboard Celebrity Summit at the end of October / beginning of November 2019 just after her massive 'Celebrity Revolution' renovation.

Our sailing was the Southern Caribbean itinerary: San Juan, Basseterre, Day at sea, Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Day at sea, San Juan.

You can read my review of the ship, and see my photos, over on my blog here: http://www.tomlovescruising.com/2020/01/03/celebrity-summit-review/

We were thoroughly impressed with the expedited arrival system - it took us EIGHT MINUTES from getting out the taxi to being given a welcome drink onboard.

The ship itself is looking absolutely stunning. The staterooms are gorgeous, the bathrooms well designed and the beds are beyond comfortable.

I know she's an older lady now, but you won't be disappointed by a trip on Summit in 2020.

Tom 🙂

Thanks for taking us along on your cruise. We also were pleased with the Summits new look (September 2019). Few areas got over looked. Looking forward to our upcoming March/April B2B cruise again on the Summit.

This sounds like bliss, I hope they perform as well on our Millennium sailing in April.

Thanks for your review... we'll be boarding her in just 4 days for a B2B2B and we're so excited! We were on her last January, so we're really looking forward to all of the changes.

The biggest concern at this point though is the earthquake situation in Puerto Rico - not for our sake, but for the sake of the poor people there who have already endured so much in the past couple of years... just hope there won't be any more quakes. 😞

Hi guys,

Really glad you liked the review! Great to have some feedback and comments!

We were very impressed with the work done, especially as we'd not long sailed on Independence OTS (review: http://www.tomlovescruising.com/2019/01/28/independenceots/) and we a little disappointed that whilst the refurb touched a few public spaces that the cabins were as tired as ever.

I hope those of you sailing soon get to enjoy Cruise Director Rich, he's really laid back chap with a relaxing deep husky voice, such a great guy.

Nice review. Thank you! Let me edit by adding I really appreciated your review. It was so thorough and easy to read. One of the most informative without being too wordy.

Thanks for thoroughness and simplicity. It works!!!!

Bringing her back to the dirtyjersey in May!

I'm a little confused.....in your first post, you said:

"The ship itself is looking absolutely stunning. The staterooms are gorgeous, the bathrooms well designed and the beds are beyond comfortable. "

In this post, you say " the cabins were as tired as ever" but I'm hoping you're referring to the Oasis.

Sorry, just don't quite understand but hoping we have updated cabins for our Nov cruise on the Summit.

Thanks!

Thanks for the review of the updated Summit.  We traveled on her about 5 years ago and enjoyed it.  We are hoping to book again for a sailing in March 2022 out of San Juan, but Celebrity decided not to release any Summit sailings for that time period yet (I assume it has something to do with RCCL's issues with the port refurbishment from what I read).  Hopefully they will resolve this issue and I will be able to book a sailing on the Summit again.  The ship looks wonderfully refreshed.

Hi Jim, what are some of those misses?

Pretty well documented on other threads.    Some areas like Martini Bar, Cafe Bascio, Cellar Masters, Sky Lounge didn't get any updates so the carpets and some of the furnishings are not the same color palette as most of the rest of the ship.

Some of the other things are more form over function like some of the new balcony furniture (suites) and lack of table or any place for room service in the room.  Small safe where it's all you can do to get an ipad in.

This has to be one of the best reviews I have ever read.   Thank you for taking the time to post.
