yoolykeme Posted January 28, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2020 I get most of my cruises free from a partner casino. The voucher says that all I have to do is pay taxes. But when I've booked them, I've always been charged an ADMIN FEE which is sometimes as high as $800 for 2 people. That's almost the cost of the cruise. Has anyone else experiences this, and is there a way to delete it?
MaryZ Posted January 28, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2020 $20 a day per person. And no, I've never had mine removed. Other cruise lines do not charge this. So we cruise other lines also.
smplybcause Posted January 28, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2020 I've never seen someone post about a casino deal and not mention an admin fee.

If I upgrade from the comped level cabin I may see charges in that $800 or more range. Perhaps double check the offer and what you're actually being charged for. Admin fees, taxes, free at sea charges, service charges, insurance, upgrade fees are all "extras" you may have to cover for a cruise. dbrown84 Posted January 28, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2020 Admin fee is $20 per person per day. so, if the admin fees are $800, it must be a 20 day cruise.
surfone Posted January 28, 2020 #9 Share Posted January 28, 2020 They have increased the admin fee to $140 pp a few years ago, I think it was about $90 pp before that so wonder if they will increase again. We also cruise Carnival on free casino cruises and they started about a year ago charging $100 pp as a down payment and then give back to you as an onboard credit. would be nice is CAS also did the same on the admin fee (give back as an onboard credit--or make it free play in the casino)

I think this fits the pattern of NCL 'free' 🙂 I very recently booked one and was a bit surprised by this fee as I had never booked one before. Not so bad if one gets over the thinking that free means 0 out of pocket and instead means 'free before taxes, gratuities and admin fees' and call a spade a spade. My admin fee was $280 US ... ($140 pp for two of us) ... and it was for a 7 day sailing. Oh and I will add that there is a separate line item for Gov Tax/Port Exp/Fees that was $398 US for two and this still doesn't cover the other Srv charges for Beverage and Dining that might be selected, those get added separately too. LaCal Posted January 28, 2020 #11 Share Posted January 28, 2020 Years back the Admin fee was $200 per person...they reduced it to $20 per person per day
ssimon Posted January 28, 2020 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2020 Our cruise is in 11 days and we were charged $240 administration fee each booked through CAS. Yet my daughter in adjoining room was charged $140!

Rare luv2kroooz Posted January 29, 2020 #14 Share Posted January 29, 2020 Ours is $20 per person, per day for the first two guests. Plus port charges. We used to get 3rd and fourth for free in the same cabin and they just had to pay port charges. Now, it is $99 per person for guests 3 and 4 plus they are assessing gratuities on the beverage package for guests 3 and 4 which is another $140 per person for a seven day cruise. So, now it is a discounted cruise. We are not using ours this year and are trying to see if our local casino can switch is to a different cruise line. Shidah Posted January 29, 2020 #15 Share Posted January 29, 2020 I have always been assessed the admin fee, has been 140. But I really didn’t mind as I still got great deals. Plus when booked through CAS, there is no single supplement, the best perk of all.

Minoushka Posted January 29, 2020 #21 Share Posted January 29, 2020 I used to get cabins for the price for one person as casino player ...now I.m told my cabin costs double ....i pay the whole rate ....not cheap and I do not get double points i have not booked another NCL cruise sinCe and I was a very loyal customer ...my cas agent told me Del Rio changed the rules re cas players ...payfor thewhole cabin ...Asof Jan 2019 .that becomes very expensive when you factor in gAmbling moola... i usedto travel NCL many times a year ...I cAn no longer do that ...bummer
ssimon Posted January 29, 2020 #22 Share Posted January 29, 2020 If I were sailing alone in the cabin I could see that but both were charged the same admin fee. Daughter and husband in adjoining cabin are paying $140 each. Guess a phone call is needed.

Was very disappointed last time...when I did have to pay "double" since the change. Booking via CAS is no longer a bargain for me as a solo. dbrown84 Posted January 29, 2020 #24 Share Posted January 29, 2020 ok. I think the difference is I'm talking about the comped cruises, not discounted. And specifically land based comps. It's still just $20 per day per person. I've actually never called CAS directly and booked based on previous play. good thing, too since I would not want to pay double. I usually get three or four certificates a year from the different casinos I play at.
Shidah Posted January 31, 2020 #25 Share Posted January 31, 2020 My one last year and my upcoming one, I still only paid for one person, not charged double. Both times using land based carts. Other cruise last year I had two of us, so obviously didn’t come into play, but also with a land based certificate.
