Can I take two 20 year olds on a cruise and not room with them?

I can't find the reference on NCL site now but I'm pretty sure it was impossible.  I'm not sure how those spring break cruises do it with travel agency.

Ideally, I'd like to get a "deal" on cabins not next to each other and put one 20 year old with me on paper (likely the one not related to me) and the other 20 year old in a cabin alone, accepting responsiblity for passenger and cabin etc.  For some reason I think this is possible on RCCL but not NCL.  Can anyone confirm?

If put 'over 21' and 20 year old in one cabin and 'over 21-no show' with another 20 year old in another cabin, would they have any trouble boarding and allowing the 20 year old to sail w/o the "adult" in cabin?

Since you are asking, you know that someone 21 or older needs to be booked in each room. Here’s the policy

Traveling with Minors and Young Adults:
Norwegian Cruise Line's policy dictates that a minor or young adult under the age of 21 must be accompanied in the same stateroom (or a connecting/adjoining stateroom) by a guest 21 years of age or older at the time of boarding.

Book a connecting Room and leave the door closed.

There are some cruise lines that do not have a 21 age requirement but "spring break cruises" are more about families with kids than about teenagers now.

You can do this with connecting rooms as noted but you need  2 adults 21 or older with one booked into each cabin, then getting extra room keys and switching after boarding.  This screws up perks that apply to the first 2 people in a cabin, especially the adult beverage packages.

I  think the two  connecting cabins solves this. Adult can get beverage package both 20s can get soda package. Depending on cabin type both will get wifi and shore excursions perks giving a double up.

We booked two adjoining rooms with our 2 kids 15/13 at the time.  They both stayed in one room, we stayed in the other.  On the reservation, you need one adult 21+ booked in each room, on paper, but then we went to Guest Services to get extra keys and swap.  Well, let me tell you, it sounds so flipping easy, but it was the worst nightmare ever!  They couldn't figure out how to change them, and we ended up carrying 2 key cards at a time, one as a room key, and the other for charges/drinks...

We’ve done it 4 times, yes, they just give you extra keys (they marked them with a sharpie). We always had connecting and kept the interior doors open, so it was no big deal.

What are you worried about? As long as nobody rapes anyone you should be alright. 20 year olds can drink already (not by law of cource but who will care) Just relax and have fun. As far as 20 year old ones go - they are already quite old people, they can behave and be responsible for their own actions

I don’t think the OP is worried about safety, just NCL’s policy that a cabin can’t be booked without someone 21 or older in it.

I think rape is a little harsh, eh?  How bout assault, battery, murder?  Why not throw them in too!

FYI, they cannot drink already.  The drinking age out of US Ports is 21.  With parent's consent, at age 18, they can consume wine and beer, no liquor.  They also do not qualify for an alcoholic drink package.

also important to point out...... legal custodian must be travelling with the 18 - 20 year old to get the wine / beer waiver.

It does make you wonder how the groups can host these college Spring Break deals then for the under 21 crowd.   They are making no effort to book an over 21 year old in a cabin with and under 21 year old.

^^^^As far as infantization, I get it.   Just got back from the Pearl and it was a crazy Spring Break fest.   Almost out of control with very inappopriate things going on the pool deck in the afternoon.   I was shocked the Cruise Directors staff was encouraging it and a part of it.   Parents wouldn't want their children to be watching that.     Envision.......Several 225lb large women hanging out of bikini's twerking in the face of a happy Cruise Directors Staff.      The next day reversed.   Very large (as in not sexy at all) twerking in the face of women Cruise Director Staff.    At the end of one, the staff member brings out this white "fluid" and squirts it on the chest (think gross suggestiveness) of an elderly man from the audience.      It was like being at an exotic dance club and only the largest, least beautiful were running up to join the contests.

On a lesser note, there was a lot of very, very drunk people on this cruise all week.  Its not a place for children any longer or young adults not legal to drink.    NCL is not the cruise line that I earned Platinum Plus status on.   Its changed a lot.   Sadly.

I dont get it. Are trying to say that this cruise line  has bocome some place to celebrate graduation for college students? I dont believe that NCL cruise line has become a place for students and underage drinkers. The story like the one you described has  happened only once maybe.

There is only one university that has spring break the last week of February, and it’s in Miami. That is not a typical NCL cruise, you have to be careful and do research on school holidays and cruises.

Way back in the dark ages, I went on a cruise (the ship was the Norway). I was 19 and my boyfriend was 20, no problems, drinking and casino allowed once we were in international waters. A lot has changed in the last 33 years.

Connecting cabins not available but I wonder about the no-show situation.

If put 'over 21' and 20 year old in one cabin and 'over 21-no show' with another 20 year old in another cabin, maybe GTY cabin, would they have any trouble boarding and allowing the 20 year old to sail w/o the "adult" in cabin?

If they don't let someone under 21 board without the 'over 21' pax checking in with them, seems like it would be a problem.  Then again, there are all these spring break cruises.....
