Just walked back from the gym across fields and woodland,a bit scary with branches flying off.A 50ft x 8ft x 9in section of the vicarage wall has blown down in the town.I only walked by it a couple of hours earlier. It was bulging out in the summer and they only repointed it.Next week there'd be loads of young mums taking their kids to school with toddlers in tow.The vicar must have upset the bloke up there.

It has been raining non stop here since 7am, lots of standing water around as drains unable to cope with volume of water quick enough, not designed for these volumes. We have friends in the a Ironbridge Gorge where the flood barriers are in place and a peak of 5.9m is expected on Thursday as the water in the Severn is topped up by the heavy rain in Wales over the last few days, fortunately they are on higher ground and not effected, would need to rise by about 30m for them to be directly affected. Hopefully the barriers will hold out as they have before. Unfortunately those on the south bank of the river have no such protection as no solid ground to erect barriers.

The forecast for the rest of the week is much drier, hopefully those under flood warning will get some respite by the weekend.

It has been a really nasty day here but forecast for us is slightly better tomorrow which is fortunate because DH has an appointment for a minor op tomorrow morning and the on site parking is atrocious so we usually park about 10 minutes walk away.

That's really good news Avril. It all sounds much more positive now and I hope Frank continues to improve albeit slowly and surely. That last transfusion from @Eglesbrech must have been the turning point! Please God you'll soon be back where you belong - together. My love to you both. Jane xxx

His doctor says they think he has a small 'leak' somewhere in his stomach area and he's to have a camera both up and down to see where it is, so not quite over the hump yet but fingers crossed. I'm still a little worried tonight, but no more transfusions and he's now on oral antibiotics. He's eating like a horse now, so onwards and upwards🤞

Thinking of you both tomorrow. Sounds good if he is eating though 🙂 Can't imagine how you are feeling to be apart, but it seems that he is having great care and getting stronger and stronger.

I do think that this thread has been special since Sharon set it up in 2020 and the support you've had from everyone on here is a wonderful example of that. Thanks to CC for allowing to keep it going. 🙂

Hope all goes well tomorrow Josy. If that's at Royal Stoke good luck with the parking etc !

Great that Frank is eating well after losing so much weight.

Also good that the hospital is being thorough with the testing (though not pleasant for Frank).

It is Royal Stoke, we park on the Hilton Road car park, where the ambulance station used to be.  When we went there last week I said that I missed living in Penkhull because we would have been able to walk down to Royal Stoke.

Where about in Penkhull? Mr Presto2 is a former Penkhull lad.

I used to sing in a choir that took part in a festival there each year and Mr Presto2 and I got married in Penkhull x

I agree totally Presto. I have always thought that this thread has been very important to us all in many ways for help, comfort and advice, but I have never appreciated this thread and my virtual friends as much as I have this past few days.

I thank each and every one of you, and a special thank you to Host Sharon with a wish that you are soon well and back with us.

DH and I lived in Croft Crescent which is near to the top of Chamberlain Avenue. My parents lived in Franklyn Road when I was born. I was baptised in Penkhull Church.  DH was a Penkhull lad too, though we didn't meet until I was 19.

It was surreal when our parents met, our mothers had trained as nurses together and our dads had gone to school together.

You are right Avril, this thread has helped a lot of us to get through less than ideal times.

Hubby lived mainly in Trent Valley Road. He went to Penkhull Infants and The Close before going to Thisley Hough.

We met and got married at the AOG church at the top of Franklyn Road. 30 yrs this year.

I'm the Northern in terms of the City. 😀

Good morning everyone, hope you are all well today.

Not a good start to the new year for us unfortunately. Some of you may remember I had DCIS (early breast cancer) last year and I had my first follow up mammogram in Dec, they rang me last week, “chalky” deposits found so had to have a further more magnified mammogram yesterday, just waiting results now.

Our dog was diagnosed with an ulcer in her eye over Xmas, she has been having antibiotics six times a day plus her own blood serum into her eye. Saw vet again last night, it has got worse, appt at 9.15 to see eye specialist in Penrith. She either needs surgery to make a new eye flap (if they can)to try save her vision or she will have to have her eye removed. So it’s an early start for me today as it’s over an hour to Penrith even with no hold ups on M6.

Hope all goes well for everyone with appointments, treatments etc

Hi Michelle,

As you say, not the greatest of starts to the year.
Hope the chalky deposits are innocuous.

I also hope your dog gets on ok. If the worst happens I’ve known a couple of dogs that had an eye removed and they recovered really quickly and got used to their different vision amazingly well.

I hope that everything goes well for both you and your dog.

Hopefully the chalky deposits can be removed quickly if the mammogram shows that they need treating.

It is heartbreaking when something is wrong with animals.
