QM2 location (Merged threads)

I didn't get to watch QM2's departure in real time, but fortunately the live streams on the Ahoy Shipmate YouTube channel can be rewound a few hours. This isn't the most impressive webcam capture given the lighting conditions, but I think QM2 returning to service this evening is well worth remembering here. This is a capture from the Netley Cam stream showing QM2 departing Southampton about 3 1/2 hours ago.

This thread has been dormant for quite a while. To remedy that situation, here's an interesting screen capture showing QM2 in Philipsburg, St Maarten today. The other ship in the image is MSC Seaview. This image was captured from PTZtv's "Port St Maarten Webcam" found at "www.portstmaartenwebcam.com".

Here's a capture of QM2's arrival in New York this morning as seen on the "New York City Harbor, Waterfront Museum, Brooklyn NY USA" live stream on the StreamTime Live YouTube channel. Thanks to @Dranuc2016 for pointing out this new webcam stream and for StreamTime Live granting permission to post this image.

Very exciting. I'll be interested to hear the experience of those boarding in New York. This will be the first departure, won't it?

This actually will be QM2's third departure from New York since the resumption of operations. Her first was December 22, 2021 for her ill-fated Christmas cruise to the Caribbean that didn't return to New York. Her second departure was February 22, 2022 for the Caribbean cruise she just completed (as far as New York) this morning. This afternoon she will be on her way back to Southampton. QM2 is next scheduled to be in New York on March 27, 2022 for the final of the Caribbean cruises during this winter/spring 2022 season which have taken the place of her 2022 world voyage.

Yes, I should have said "first transatlantic departure", but I suppose the protocols wouldn't be significantly different for the Caribbean ones (allowing for the passage of time). I'll have to look over some older threads for discussions of boarding.

Since this is indeed QM2's first transatlantic departure from New York since the resumption of service, I think that merits another webcam view. Here's an interesting capture of her departure this evening also from the "New York City Harbor, Waterfront Museum, Brooklyn NY USA" live stream on the StreamTime Live YouTube channel.

Here's a capture of QM2's Southampton arrival today in the early morning sun with a Red Funnel ferry included as a bonus. Once again this is from the Netley Cam stream of the Solent Ships YouTube channel. I didn't stay up late enough my time to watch this live, but when I rewound the stream and found this view, I thought it was worthy of posting here.

This is a fabulous capture. Here is my photo taken on the dockside that day:

The New York Harbor webcam found at "nyharborwebam.com" has been zooming in on QM2 at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal on occasion today. I don't think we've seen this view yet on this thread. It's overcast and a bit hazy, but all-in-all I think this is a reasonable image considering the camera location is about 5 miles away.

To give equal time to another excellent New York port webcam, here's a view of QM2's departure this afternoon, once again captured from the "New York City Harbor, Waterfront Museum, Brooklyn NY USA" live stream on the StreamTime Live YouTube channel.

Here's QM2 arriving in Ft. Lauderdale:

In case anyone is interested, there's typically a "sailaway' thread on the Holland America forum.  I know I'm planning the departure at 7PM local time and if anyone else wants to visit please come over.  Ships typically blow their horns as they leave the channel and QM2 usually puts on a good show.  I know it's late for those in the UK:

Pretty good close-up of QM2 on the Port Everglades Webcam at the moment. Perhaps worth posting another image since it has been a while since QM2 has visited Fort Lauderdale. January 20, 2016 was her last visit here according to my records. Will indeed be watching her departure this evening.
