Ovation Casino

As a non-smoking gambler, I don't even enter.

But smoking gamblers keep the cruise lines solvent. If they banned smoking, all the smokers would stop gambling, and non-smoking gamblers would never make up for that shortfall.

How badly does it smell from cigarettes? I believe there is a nonsmoking section, but smoke generally lingers.

Sailing from which port?  If sailing from Australia no problem as smoking not allowed.  Otherwise smoke is smoke.

Seattle. I just don't want to be in a casino for an hour sitting in the strench, and then having the smell stay on my clothing.

Only smoking on deck 6 and near pool on Australian cruises.

I feel sorry for them ,with the stressful look on their face and trying to get their fix.

The smoke is pretty bad. And the organization of the non-smoking sections really don't help,,, you'll get smokey. But if you want to gamble, you'll get smokey.

How do we even know that smoking will still be allowed when cruising returns? Don't waste energy until you need to.

Okay thank you. I've just read all different things on here, but wasn't sure if maybe they changed their ventilation system, or made it nonsmoking altogether.

I just saw that for $25, I get 2 drinks an $25 free play, but will skip now.

The issue with the casino, it’s not just those gambling that are smoking. The issue is that the casino is listed as a smoking venue. Generally, it is the only indoor smoking venue on the ship.   So anyone can sit there and smoke, even if they are not gambling. They are not allowed to sit at a casino table and smoke but they can’t sit at any machine or gather anywhere, as long as it is in the smoking section.

It will be interesting to see if there are any changes when cruising  resumes.

Health stuff aside, as far as smell goes, this is an extremely subjective question.  I've seen non-smokers sitting in visual smoke saying its not that bad.  I've also seen a non-smoker see one person light up on the other side of a large outdoor area and literally run away from the area due to the "stench" within 10 seconds.

For most non-smokers there will definitely be a "smoke smell" in the casino, but you'll end up having to judge this for yourself as far as the severity goes.

Did it smell good to you when you were in the casino on Ovation?

They really need to take a page from NCL's book on this (with the Breakaway-Plus class ships, or at least the Bliss Encore and maybe Joy) and start building the ships with segregated areas in the casino for smoking.  I'm talking walled-off (with glass) areas with dedicated ventilation where people who smoke can play/gamble, but ONLY active gamblers are allowed to hang out in there and smoke.

I could personally smell the smoke, but because of my job(firefighter in a large metro dept) it doesn't bother me as much as it may others.  I personally wouldn't describe it as good, but tolerable for me.
