Was on a 3 way call last night with my TA and someone from Carnival's  marketing department.   They were clueless as to who got the offer and who didn't,  and unless one of the offers was in my "offers area" of my ViFP account, I was SOL.

I believe the offer was in my hubby's VIFP . my TA found it so I was like "cool". but if we did not qualify for the cheers I would have been ok too .  I just want to sail.

I just got another email for free cheers package on my next cruise.  hmmmm. anyone else?

Well, I didn't.  But my cruise buddy did.  His VIFP number is connected to my email for some reason.    I was hoping to get one as I'm a fan of Cheers.  So, when I chose a cruise, and compared it side by side with the same cruise under my VIFP number, the difference in price is...wait for it...the cost of the Cheers program.  I only did this with one cruise though.  As others have mentioned, I saw no gain taking advantage of the targeted promotion.

We never received an email but my BIL did. Once I priced the eligible cruises and put in my VIFP number it gave me the perk as well..

However it’s barely even worth it because you will pay almost the same if you booked a discounted rate and and paid for the Cheers package .. was literally only about $100 cheaper with the Cheers perk for an 8 nt sailing on the Magic in December 2021

Interesting! What was the cheapest price & price with free Cheers RU2 code?

For me it was a 6 day on the Horizon for December 5.  With my VIFP number, the (required minimum) Oceanview was $429pax, and with the RU2 it was $799pax.  That's $370 more expensive (if my math is right).  Cheers on a 6 day comes out to about $370.  (Actually...I think buying cheers ahead of time, without the promotion, would save about $2pax?)

No, not really.   Could have been the RU9, which is tied into OV or higher cabins.  Also, no one has mentioned as to whether the gratuities are included with the promo or not.

I finally got the free cheers package email  😃 has anyone been successful in adding the promo to an existing booking??

I'm waiting for my PVP to call me back.

Alas, no. I booked our January 22, 2022 cruise MONDAY and got the email this afternoon (Wednesday). I called Carnival (that's who I booked with). The lady I spoke with tried to add the code, but it wouldn't let her. I don't know why they would send it two days after we booked.

As far as trying to figure out who gets it, we buy the bottles of wine at the dining room package. Never bought the Cheers program and don't spend much else on beverages onboard.

As I mentioned I wrote to them, 3 times now, several addresses, and finally got a reply about how to find offers, and how they cant wait to welcome me aboard vista, so having a booking might be why I'm not special.

I told them I was boycotting carnival future bookings and selling my stock shares as I no longer had faith in their mgmt to send out offers that wouldn't alienate a lot of cruisers including me.

I love the tag line .....I may be breaking the law if I copied their email or used it in any other way. If a policeman shows up at my door ... they really need to threaten me? I get it they dont care. Lol. Doesnt mean I wouldn't continue not to book carnival either. Lolololol

I’m the OP and after 4 pages of posts not one person even attempted to give me an answer to my question. Everyone goes off on their only platform. If someone could take a stab at my question I would appreciate it. Why do they take the drink package away when you put your 2 children age 10 and 8 in your cabin?

I received an email which I’m sure many have from Carnival giving the drink package if you are a VIFP. We decided to take the family and called Carnival and requested 3 balcony cabins for 6 adults and 6 children aged 7-16. We told her the cruise we wanted and got everything we wanted except the drink package. I asked why we didn’t get the drink package and she informed us because it is only for cabins with double occupancy, so even if they are children under 21 you lose the perk. I don’t understand why Carnival would do this, you take an extra 6 people and it seems you get penalized. What are your thoughts why they would do this.

I don't have any ideas about that.

The condition of the offer is for double occupancy.  You need to book 2 cabins for the 4 of you to comply with the conditions of the offer. I thought you answered your own question when you stated this offer is only good for double occupancy cabins.

Just a way to get more $$$ from you.

I didn't get the offer personally, but from what I have seen, the rules seen in fine print of the offer states there is a maximum of 2 passengers per stateroom for any staterooms booked with the offer. Having 2 adults and 2 children in one cabin violates this rule.

If this is the case, Carnival more than likely put the double occupancy rule in place due to a limitation with Carnival's systems (i.e. cheaper pricing for the 3rd and 4th passengers in a cabin using various promo codes) and/or the rules regarding cheers (i.e. everyone in the cabin must purchase cheers).

Obviously, Carnival doesn't want to give a free or discounted cheers package to the 3rd and 4th passengers in a cabin if they are paying a much lower cruise fare than the 1st two passengers.

It is specific with the codes that there be a maximum of 2 people in the room.  Cut and dry.

It is only good for new bookings, so your current reservation would have to be cancelled first.  If it is with a refundable deposit, just call back your PVP, cancel and rebook with the code.  If it's with a non refundable deposit, you would have to run the numbers if the cancellation with the deposits would outweigh your savings.

Among other things I got told when I complained last thread, oh they know they have you, this offer is to get others to come back and book.

Well, not true, they shouldn't take me for granted.

Well, and that is wrong anyway. I’m booked on a cruise in Feb and I got the Cheers offer. Didn’t take it because I am not booking anything until cruises are actually sailing again. But it wasn’t to get me back. I sailed twice this past winter and three times the winter of 2019. No idea what their system is, but it’s not just going to people who haven’t sailed in a while.

It is frustrating that sales are not just offered across the board. However, just so you know, the “free” cheers code was actually quite a bit more than other rates on the cruises I looked at just out of curiosity. So it might be free, but the cruise price goes up when you add that code.

Yes. I saw that it was only for new bookings, but I called anyway. She said I had the best deal available now. I think slightly better than they have right now, actually. I have NONrefundable deposit of $250, so it doesn't make sense to cancel and rebook. If we were going to buy the Cheers anyway, it might pay, but we don't get it.

Dude, you're taking this way too seriously.  That's a standard email disclaimer. Carnival is not threatening you.

Now you get to go make friends on the forum for your new cruise line.

Dude!!! Lol

I know, I thought it was funny dude. I've had other guys tell me they refer to everyone male or female as dude. I guess you are of that mindset.. I'll just refer to you as that dude from now on lol. Hey dude! Most women wouldnt name themselves after a small bug but whatever.

You have already made your pt, I get it. Lolol. You dont approve of how I feel, oh well, get over it. Telling a woman to calm down always has the opposite effect.

I'd say dude let's make a deal, I wouldnt tell you how to feel about this and you will quit telling me, but alas, I doubt you will. Let's try.

I was actually trying to help you.  You have every right to your feelings. Most people prefer being at peace versus being mad and angry all the time.  Maybe RCL, HAL, MSC, or another line will put your mind and dollars at peace.

As I said I am only booking out of Galveston which is only rcl and carnival, hence my 179 pts on carnival and over 100 on rcl, have done ncl, princess and celebrity. All nice but I have to fly to them. I stopped cruising for a while and came back with a april booking on rcl in 2020, bad time to come back to cruising, but there is a reason most of my cruises have been with carnival... texas/Galveston.

I'm not a dude. And wasnt looking for help, I've lost track of the number of cruises I have.

When I started carnival 1A had no solo supplement, then 50% though at the time I was cruising with my sister who has since found a husband, now royal and celebrity I saw when I came back would give me 2 pts for a regular cabin, 3 for a JS so I'm like well last time i did vista this time I'll do rcl, switching back and forth. In fact i now have 6 rcl at less than 200% solo supplement. Though I've had 3 or 4 or 5 cancelled on carnival, lost count, but as a solo the free drinks as a diamond at night, and balcony discount already had me leaning that way, though I alternated when I cruised up to 8 times a year just because I'd seen the shows and knew menus by heart.

Idk how many cruiselines you've been on, but your help just sounds more like telling me get over it, go away, preachy and calling me dude doesnt help.

I've already taken my own advice, for sure I wouldnt take yours, as I know nothing about you, ormyour cruising experience and dont need someone telling me to get over it go try another line. In fact I did book 2 more ... with rcl, though at 200% but at least I'll get 2 pts pp per day loyalty and the same prices with better perks for me. I'm not a big drinker, maybe some wine with dinner. So if carnival doesnt give the offer to me I can get it elsewhere free. So  now I'm up to 8 rcl, after booking 2 of the new releases albeit at higher prices.

I will go on vista as booked but cant find a good reason, to book the other 2 carnival I need to hit 200 pts diamond. Maybe some day, I like to mix it up. I still dont like that only some got the early free cheers, ru1, then ru2 . .are they up to ru8 now, each code seems to cost more, so not interested in these later codes. I'm very aware, and get what carnival is doing, dont have to like it.

The free diamond drinks has always made many loyal to royal, but its earned by loyalty pts, not just luck like this which isnt a reward for loyalty, as you say its targeted. I did alaska on carnival miracle and ,loved it, though hawaii I did celebrity, 3 on princess, when everyone convinced me princess was best, then tried carnival and it was a better fit, princess felt stuffy. Enjoyed food on ncl a few times but didnt feel like home.

But this just cements my feelings rcl, 2 loyalty pts, balcony discount, free drinks are hard to beat when ccl now charges me double all the time. My TA has a definite leaning toward rcl, considers himself a rcl specialist, so there are some good reasons I was leaning that way, this was just the deciding factor. Also rcl has a more flexible cancel during covid times. I am ready to venture farther afield, I was thinking one Panama cruise out of Galveston would put me at diamond, but they pulled them on radiance, so good thing I didnt book one and just booked vista, or I'd have one more to rebook. But now I'm probably lean mostly to rcl. It's far away but at 340 pts, 2nd fare is half price for solo, and oh yea many of their ships have solo cabins, though only 1 loyalty lt, but 600 to alaska on a new ship to alaska, tempting, I'll probably do that in 2023. And some others further afield once covid is gone.

I've done my homework, vista was my last cruise... I love guys, and some foods on both. So yes no doubt I may book carnival as there are only 3 choices out of Galveston if you count Disney. But not soon. Sometimes people want understanding...not advise or told what cheers is about. Sorry dude you dont get it about empathy.  I took some years off, got burned out and evaluating between ccl and rcl my 2 drive 2 choices. .. and carnival just has less to offer me as a solo. But I'm early saver on ccl vista, so you are stuck with me until then.

They sent it to tempt you to do more bookings after Wednesday!

No, Naxer said RU2 was $370 more per person.

I think the Cheers package includes gratuities, whether included in the cruise fare or bought separately.

In Celebrity, all the drink packages always include grats
