MX-Drew Posted May 14, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted May 14, 2021 Just noticed it says offer is not applicable to savers, blue light etc fares. Didn’t we have to book a saver fare?

Didn’t we have to book a saver fare? Good point, I booked a saver? for my Iona 7 nighter because you could not book select!. P&O will have to clarify this soonest or it will be another debacle. I think I had some onboard credit anyway. I just did a dummy booking for August and it only lists the Early Saver option, maybe the Saver exclusion does not apply. sagaris Posted May 14, 2021 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2021 I have also received this e-mail. My sister-in-law has also booked the same cruise but has a single balcony. I can't see any mention of OBC for singles! Molly

We usually have to pay quite a dramatic add-on supplement for being a single in a double room but only ever get one OBC. We are not worthy! Pink-belle Posted May 14, 2021 #8 Share Posted May 14, 2021 I got the email, but was very fortunate they repriced our cruise to the BLC price. Having paid a chunk of the cost of this cruise with their FCC on 2 cancelled cruises, with BLC AND onboard credit they would have almost been paying us to cruise with them! Pink-belle Posted May 14, 2021 #10 Share Posted May 14, 2021 (edited) Yes, 🤣 probably a standard phrase they are used to typing. If you’ve paid a single supplement surely you get the full onboard credit? “Per cabin” should actually be, per cabin. Hopefully based on 2 people is just a standard phrase like the early saver one. edited to add, my post would have made sense, if I had remembered to quote MX-Drew regarding Early Savers! panamapd Posted May 14, 2021 #11 Share Posted May 14, 2021 Hi all - re single supplements. Virgin Voyages have played a blinder!! I have to travel alone for this voyage and thought it would be too expensive. However, I was able to book a solo fare for £479 for the 3 night voyage. I too thought I would not get any onboard spend, or it would be reduced. But no. Got the same $100 obc! I must have struck lucky as when I looked a couple of days ago, it is now £1079 for solo sailor!! Re P&O - really good touch adding the obc!

I’m interested to start reading reviews on all the Staycation offerings. I considered the Virgin one as an opportunity to try something different, but watched a couple of vlogs and decided it wasn’t for me. I know they are hoping to appeal to people who don’t like cruises, but when I saw their buffet resembled a food court at a shopping mall, I was out 🤣 That said, I vowed never to fly Virgin Atlantic, (had a friend who was a flight attendant and didn’t agree with the pressure on appearance) then a few years later ended up on a Virgin flight and the experience was far superior to my BA flights, I realised I’d kicked myself in the foot. Might be the same with the cruises 😉
grapau27 Posted May 14, 2021 #13 Share Posted May 14, 2021 It is very welcome and well done P&O. I wonder if Princess etc do the same for staycation cruises? Although we couldn't book a cabin number the cruise was priced seperately per balcony grade.

With the saver fare if I recall correctly you can chose the position / grade of the cabin and the price adjusts accordingly. I don't think anyone will follow P&O as P&O are following others, for example the change to a 7 night for some. But I could be wrong.

MX-Drew Posted May 14, 2021 Author #20 Share Posted May 14, 2021 @molecrochipAny ideas re the line regarding not applying to select price when we could only book select? I guess it’s a standard template but would be good to have it confirmed.

We have always done Select fares because I like to pick our cabin, OBC and first choice for dining so not sure I thought saver was just a guarantee but we had a choice of balcony cabin grades at different prices plus Suites or Super Deluxe cabins when I booked. I hope it’s a better response than the one from Princess regarding shipping. I just couldn’t believe Princess Cruises response of the app is new to us and we don’t know the answer. I understand it’s new but how about taking ownership of the problem and finding out the answer. Some call that customer service. what possibly surprised me more was the Americans jumping to defend Princess Cruises.
