Freedom of the Seas July sailings Healthy Sail Requirements.

@harkinmr,  I’m not sure why you keep making this statement above.   Other than Seattle this year, Fain has repeatedly said they will not hit the 95% mark due to the sheer number of families with young kids.   Which is why they are doing test cruises. Fain estimates 90% vaccinated. And I would guess that number is too high- this is school summer vacation after all.

Other ports for the first month (ex: Galveston for August) require all 12 and up vaccinated.   But there will be a large percentage of under 12s,  so will not achieve 95% vaccinated.   So “masking indoor for all “ protocols will likely apply under today’s rules.    Testing of the unvaccinated kids at the port will likely apply.  Just not the split venues. So agree with you on that point,

Because Michael Bayley went out of his way to emphasize the "fully vaccinated" status of ships leaving ports other than Florida.  He made the statement in a FB post in response to the initial uproar over the vaccine policy last week.  Of course it may be double-speak just like the "we expect 90% vaccinated cruisers" for Florida sailings.  And I guess that means what you said, masks for everyone and not just for the little unvaccinated darlings.  Masks for children under 16/12 would be easier to police of course, although given what I've heard about the Adventure sailing, lots of kids running around without masks.  Parental supervision nowhere to be found.

No.  I made a comment that the number would be 95% vaccinated out of ports other than FL.  I extrapolated that from Michael Bayley's FB post that all other sailings would be "fully vaccinated".  I stand corrected if that extrapolation is incorrect.

There's a glitz in the software for CC I suspect, did the same thing to me and another person misquoting me too....all I did was click on  "quote" and it was the wrong poster that came up, hope the monitors are watching.

It is wishful thinking that we are returning to normal cruising at this time.  The mandates and rules having been continuously changing.  For those who are angry now that they thought they would be on a vaccinated cruise, there is no guarantee.  If the last year and half has taught us anything, it is that nothing is guaranteed, and constant change is the normal for now.  I don't know why this would be a surprise.  For myself, I am hoping that my cruise is fully vaccinated, but if not, oh well...I could've waited this out, but chose not to.

Read your response to the post.  My comment pertained to the individual commenting on vaccinated parents with un-vaxxed children. As I said, they will be tracked and possibly ostracized.

Tracked?  How so?  You think they are going to pay staff to track all the individual kids?  For what purpose?  And who is going to ostracize them?  The other unvaccinated kids?  Highly unlikely.  The other adults on the cruise?  Would you really want or expect random adults you don’t know hanging out with your kids?  Prevented from engaging in activities— like drinking in bars?  Pretty sure the kids activities will run as they are in AOS, no need to ostracize the kids from the kid zone, since all of them under 12 are unvaccinated

Just today -- in a FaceBook reply, Michael Bayley said he doubted masks will be required starting August.

I'm treating parents and their children as one.  Maybe I'm suspicious or ulterior motives, but why the need to show your seapass to gain access to certain venues.  Is the vaccination data on your seapass.I'

With the risk of COVID-19 still present, Royal Caribbean has made the decision to restrict access to certain public rooms, events, and areas of the vessel to vaccinated passengers only. Passengers will need to keep their SeaPass cards at them on all times in order to gain access to lounges, shows and dining venues while onboard.

"Since the majority of our guests will be vaccinated, there will be venues and events restricted to vaccinated guests only," stated Royal Caribbean in its email communiqué to passengers. "We’ll do our best to create opportunities for all guests to enjoy their time with us."

For entertainment venues, select showtimes will be offered for vaccinated passengers only, while others will be offered for vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers. These will be listed in the daily program, and show reservations can be made using the Royal Caribbean app.

Meals in the ship's elegant Main Dining Room will be set up similarly: vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers may not dine together, and reservations will be encouraged using the Royal Caribbean app or Cruise Planner pre-cruise.

It doesn't have to be in place now.  The CDC says so.  It's just RCI doesn't know how to referee its application to unvaccinated passengers.  And my guess, come August, they still won't.

EDIT: To add current CDC guidance.

Fully Vaccinated Travelers

  • Cruise ship operators, at their discretion, may advise passengers and crew that—if they are fully vaccinated—they may gather or conduct activities outdoors, including engaging in extended meal service or beverage consumption, without wearing a mask.
  • Cruise ship operators, at their discretion, may advise crew who are fully vaccinated that they do not have to wear a mask or maintain physical distance in areas of the ship that are inaccessible to passengers.
  • Cruise ship operators, at their discretion, may designate areas as only accessible to fully vaccinated passengers and crew where masks and physical distancing are not required (e.g., casinos; bars; spas; entertainment venues; and dining areas, including self-serve buffets).
  • For ships with at least 95% of crew and 95% of passengers fully vaccinated, cruise ship operators, at their discretion, may advise passengers and crew that they do not have to wear a mask or maintain physical distance in any areas.

Again this is the part I think they need to add more clarity to. I understand if two adults are fully vaccinated and a separate pair of two adults are unvaccinated that they will be separated into different dining rooms. Will they treat family units where the adults are vaccinated and the children are not as a third dining room or mix them all in with the unvaccinated people? They certainly can't expect a young 5-11 year-old child to eat dinner by himself while his parents are in a separate dining room

Yes I was about to post that.  What this means is if the ship is NOT at least 95% fully vaccinated, there is NO discretion.

  1. CDC has noticed an uptick for Covid in children. The virus needs  a host to survive, the more people vaxed, the more the  unvaxed kids will be the bullseye. I do not want to cruise with kids, because eventually they will be the ones that will be the threat on a cruise.

If they receive discretion for no masks anywhere indoors on the ship, how do you believe they will differentiate between vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers in those areas?  Will they keep the designated "vaccinated only" areas and use bracelets or some other form of identification for monitoring mask wearing elsewhere?  I don't think they'll have discretion to not police compliance with the policy, so I'm curious how managing this process might work out.  I see it as being a more complicated situation for ship crew.

If you don’t provide your vaccination proof at checkin, they will punch a hole in your sea pass so that you are noted as “unvaccinated”. In order to get into the designated, mask free areas, they will check your sea pass for the hole.  Don’t think it’s a major conspiracy

Exactly -- that is why they will probably have to have everyone wear masks indoors until the CDC amends the latest May 29, 2021 order which they said they will be doing soon.

I don't see them restricting vaccinated parents and children from eating together.  I imagine they will make an exception and seat "hybrid" families in family groups in a separate area of the dining room or relenting and seating these families in the unvaccinated area.  It's really a no win for the parents.

But if it is amended, HOW will they manage the new mask rules? That was my question.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking as well so at least for dining there in essence will be three separate dining scenarios. I could see them doing it for theater shows too, a showing for only vaccinated, a showing for vaccinated adults to enjoy with unvaccinated children, and a free-for-all open show for anyone.

They will likely make all the bars and adult venues vaccine only too.

I don’t think the virus is targeting kids for lack of adults — the virus is mutating and as a part of that, kids are more susceptible.  As they would be if the Delta variant arrived before the vaccine.  This is part of the reason why it is so important people get vaccinated.
