I had made reservartions for table for 4 at the aft dining room on deck 6 several months ago. Then got email, like us all, that Princess is changing policy. I just checked and the reservations are still there but been moved to dining room mid ship on deck 5.  Hopefully I won't have to re-do the reservations again.  BTW, is there any smoke smell from the casino in mid-ship deck 5?  I had picked aft deck 6 to avoid it.

Yes, but I'm not. There was apparently a window when anyone could make reservations but it's closed. It was probably a bug, tbh.

Oh wow I had no idea! Well let’s hope that bug is the one bug they don’t fix lol

I'm on the Crown mid- June. Yesterday I tried to select a traditional, fixed dining time - as I have done on all the other lines. Based on what I've read here, seems that Princess no longer offers fixed seatings, but plans to resume the tradition in September. Am I right?

Would it be fruitful to speak to a MD once on board and try to arrange a fixed table/time/ and server through the reservation system?

Which ship?  For what it's worth, I never smelled smoke in any Princess dining room (over 30 cruises.)

Interesting that they transferred your booking, did they keep same time?

Make reservations in the same MDR at the same time each evening before you sail.  During your first meal in the MDR, whether lunch or dinner, ask the Head Waiter if you can have that table for your entire cruise.

I think sun is the only ship so far that has full smoking in the casino

I have made all dinner reservations except one. The latest available reservation is 8:20 PM. Our excursion does not return to the ship until 8:30 so we were looking for a 9PM dinner. Ideas?

Also, are breakfast and lunch just walkup service?

Thanks- sounds like the plan.

Breakfast and lunch are walk up no reservations on most ships service ends at 9. The latest reservation I have seen is 8:40

OK. If my excursion ends are 8:30 & I get back on board at about 8:45 is there another way to get dinner? (Grand Princess)

Currently on Mirage.  MDR all close at 9:30 pm.  Buffet closes at 10 pm.  Alfredo's closes at 11 pm.  International cafe is open all night.  I believe room service also goes all night.

You can make a nice little meal from the IC.  Sandwiches, soup, salads, quiche, desserts.

What the heck is the Mirage ?  Is this some mystery Princess ship from a different dimension ?

Early morning typo.  How about the Majestic?

At that time you should have no problem getting a table by just walking up to the MDR of your choice.

If it works, great.  We never got the staff to agree to this.  It depends on who is in charge in which dining room on which ship.  If Princess is serious in restoring traditional fixed dining, it will be less of an issue.  It's possible in fixed dining to get a table for two if that's important.

Currently on the Majestic.  Many people have secured the same table for the entire cruise.  Most of our section is "reserved".  This also previously worked on the Caribbean and Discovery.  Which ships did it not work on?

We got it to work on Sapphire, did not try it on Caribbean.  I do need not think we will need it for Enchanted in June because we are a table of 6.  But I’m prepared to ask.

We reserved the same top and time each night on our recent 10 night Enchanted cruise. Spoke with the MD the first evening, no problem. It was a mix of reserved and not reserved in our section.

Neither have I and I have asthma and I’m particularly sensitive to smoke!

I am wondering if a lot people will be happy to go back to just walking into dining ng room at ANY TIME and for this reason there might be long lines for Anytime Dining!  What do you think!

It might be as it was before.  When the Anytime dining room fills up, they will direct the overflow to the traditional dining room.  That always seemed to work before.  As traditional diners ourselves, we would see new people come in and sit near us at what had been an empty table.
