Door Decor

There isn't a ton of cabin door decorating on Celebrity ships.  And if it is done, it usually is fairly small.  We have done it during our holiday cruises.  The cabin doors are attracted to magnets--and so are the cabin interior walls.

We were on the Constellation and Summit back in Nov and Dec.   The walls  in the SS on those ships aren’t magnetic.   The outside door is on the outside but not on the inside.   There is a magnetic sign for do not disturb.  It works on the outside of the door but not on the inside.    There isn’t any place to stick it to.   On the Summit there were 2 metal shadow type  magazine racks that it could be attached.  It was over the desk.

I know that the E and S class have metallic walls because we have used magnets there.

The boxes are shown in the photo and you can see the magnetic sign in the top box.   This is the Summit after Kelly IKEAnized it

Perhaps those suites that have undergone the Revolution conversion are adorned with non-magnetic walls.  We have been on Summit in 2010 and our cabin walls were magnetic--but it was not a suite.

Agree not many door decorations on Celebrity. We always decorate but usually a simple one. Sometimes just a picture of the ship, dates of cruise, first names, and home town. Makes it a lot easier to find your door. Seems someone usually wants to help by adding something!

Generally use the sticky putty that comes off without marking the door. works on interior walls also.

We have some magnetic post it type note dry erase thingy and pen things we leave on the door to let one another know where we are on the ship at times....

Not sure why the Bride cares, I'm usually in the casino or at the sunset bar. Come to think about it, maybe it lets her know where not to go.   🙂

  • 8 months later...

We hang an inexpensive party decoration outside our door so we know we are on the correct hallway.  It can be seen from the end of the hallway right off the elevators.  Our neighbors always thank us for doing it because they can make use of it!  It started with our wedding cruise when I hung tissue wedding bells.  I still have them.

Pretty  much all you,ll see on X doors, plus we used to have signs for Cruise Critic/ meet and mingle.  Exception was on Halloween wheroe  many doors have something.    More of a Royal C thing....  sorry to hear folks might be  too drunk  to locate their room number on the door!

I didn't do anything on Celebrity because it doesn't seem like that kind of line. And I'm an adult capable of remembering where my room is, so I don't have to have anything to help me find it.

I don't mind a magnet or two if people insist, but the full out door thing like a lot do on Disney (I love Disney, but the doors get ridiculous) where it feels like people still think they're in college and need to have decorations on everything? Just, no.

I always place a personalized magnet on our cabin door because my DH and I prefer to be called by nicknames which aren't on our SeaPass cards.   It really helps the cabin steward get to know us better.  Just one small magnet, which is tasteful for Celebrity standards.

I felt the same way (but then I am admittedly an old grouch) until my neighbors hung balloons outside their door. Made it so much easier to decide down which hallway I needed to crawl.

When my husband and I cruise we usually put some magnetic butterflies on for the same reason.  That being said, my elderly mother really appreciated them for HER to find the room - not for that reason though haha.

It seems to me that I am seeing more door decorations on Celebrity as the years have passed......or maybe because I really enjoy them and want to get a few for our door, I'm looking for positive reinforcement!  We will be on the Beyond in a few weeks over Halloween, and I am taking the plunge - going to put a few Halloween magnets on our cabin door.  I think modest decorations are great fun and reflect your personality - like hanging a wreath on your front door at home.  Make your cabin your own, express yourself while on board and have fun.  Etsy has some super magnets which you can personalize, like the one someone posted on this thread - love it!
