Platinum - Can you get into cabin early?

With all of the changes to Platinum/Diamond status due to Covid, I'm wondering if you can still go to your cabin as soon as you board the ship? Or do you have to wait until everyone else gets access...at whatever time that may be?

You can drop your carry-ons but you are not supposed to remain in your cabin.  Stewards are still in and out of rooms and they ask that you not be there so they can.

You should be able to get in and drop your bags in the closet before everyone else.

We sailed for NYE 2 months ago on the Dream.

Yes, we had early access to our room.

The door to the hall was closed, but we timidly opened it and walked in, explaining to the first crew member we saw that we were Platinum and they were gracious and accommodating.

We dropped off our stuff and headed out again to give the stewards time to finish up.

And it was our first Platinum cruise so now we know.

They would have been if you were a Blue Card which is why others exploit their professionalism.

We cruised on the Sunshine in September.  We boarded around 10:40 or so and went to our room to drop off our bags.  The room was not ready, so we dropped them off and immediately left.

We just returned from the Valor in January.  We went directly to our room upon boarding around 10:45 and our room was actually ready.  Our cards were already waiting in box.  We dropped off our bags and went to do muster and eat.  Since our room was ready, we decided to go back to the room about 12:15 to just relax in there.  Our bags were there, so we went ahead and unpacked.  The announcement was made around 1 that all rooms were ready.

It varies ship by ship.  We've always been able to do a backpack drop off and take as a clue whether our door is open or closed, whether our keys are in the slot, and if our luggage has been brought into the room by the steward as a sign.

For now, they are asking people not remain in cabins because the stewards don't know who still have FunShip orders being delivered and he don't want crew in the cabin same time as guests.

This is another thing I wish they would get streamlined among their ships.

We have been on 5 different ships since cruising resumed and it was handled differently on each.  Although the cabins were not ready, on some of the ships they were fine with us putting our luggage in the closet (invited us to).  On a couple of others, they seemed really irritated we were even in the hallway while they were trying to prep to rooms.  So, I apologized saying we'd just drop our items in the closet and be out of their way.  Although not happy, they let us proceed.  I get it, they are trying to do a lot of work in a short amount time, but it's tough when you've recently been on a ship that told us it was fine.

You can drop off your luggage and or carry on when you board and then leave.

We've only been on Mardi Gras since turning Platinum. Trying Spirit week after next but on the MG, we just went to the cabin and stashed our two carry on bags in the closet, waved at our Steward and promptly left within 60 seconds. And I probably won't know on the Spirit either because all the cabins should be ready when we board as its the first cruise.

We were on the Mardi Gras on February 5.  There were no cards ready, the door was open, and the cabin was not completed when we got there to drop off our carryons.  We put the carryons in the closet and left immediately.  Went back at 1:30 to find that the cabin has been completed, the door was propped open, and one of our carryons had been placed on the bed, in the middle of the luggage mat, directly in front of the open door.  Then our luggage (with Platinum priority tags) did not arrive until 4:30, well after there were numerous bags delivered to other cabins.  Not a great start!

To be clear, priority luggage delivery has gone with the advent of Covid.  No one makes a big deal of that, though, because it was always hit or miss anyway.

This was our fifth Carnival cruise since the restart (Magic, Horizon, Conquest and twice on Mardi Gras), and all of the others had someone knocking on our door soon after arrival with our luggage on a small luggage cart.  This time there were many, many bags in the hallway hours before ours arrived.  And one of our luggage straps was filthy when we did get it, so I am positive it went stray somewhere.
