JB333 Posted March 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2022 We booked our first Royal Caribbean cruise last week on Oasis of the Seas after sailing with Celebrity for our 3 previous cruises. We assumed the casinos were non smoking as you can't smoke in the Celebrity casinos, and they are sister lines. Just found out that you can smoke in them! Very disappointed as we spend lots of time in there at the blackjack tables. Just wondering how large the area is that is designated for smoking, and how bad does the smoke/smell transfer to the rest of the casino? Are their tables that are designated smoking as well, or just slot areas? Thanks!
rberns6171 Posted March 26, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2022 Oasis has a large casino with 2 seperate sides for smoking and non smoking. I am a non smoking black jack player also and the smoke really is not a problem. You can tell the difference between a non smoking and smoking casino but on Oasis when you leave you dont smell like smoke.

LaCal Posted March 26, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 26, 2022 Anyone know if on Quantum of the Seas there’s a non smoking side and smoking side?
Rare island lady Posted March 26, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2022 I already miss the recent days when they required masks in the casino...which meant no smoking. Gosh it was so fresh and clean smelling in there on Odyssey last week! 🤗 Now we are on EX...and even in the morning...cig smoke in there is horrendous. Gag...will keep me from spending money in there again. 😮 Which is a good thing for me....loss for RCI. 😉 2
nivek82 Posted March 26, 2022 #6 Share Posted March 26, 2022 On Allure the casino manager was making announcements that smoking was only for people actually playing. I did see people walking by smoking but there are less than used to be. Another thing I like is they removed smoking from the bar area. Now at nights does the smoke get thick, yup but it’s a big casino so doesn’t feel as bad as others.

The smoke goes everywhere and you stink like cigarettes even walking through there.. the worst thing Royal has done has allowed smoking again. 6
wayne_trisha Posted March 27, 2022 #8 Share Posted March 27, 2022 If it stinks of cigarette smoke I know I am not going to stay. Not sure why cruise lines cannot realize people don't want to hang out in a carcinogenic haze and then stink when they are done. 3
link99 Posted March 27, 2022 #9 Share Posted March 27, 2022 Smoking is allowed in Casino as of March 20-26 Odyssey of Seas Cruise. Just off from thatCruise. At least you have an easy choice/solution to eliminate smoke since masks work so well w/ small particles. Have more OBC on this leg of the B2B as well. Will definitely remember my mask...and gamble quick...then leave. 😉

Just found out that you can smoke in them! They are sister cruise lines as they are both part of the RCI but they each operate independently as companies with their own policies. They may be sisters but they are not twins, and are completely different cruise atmospheres: RCCL caters to families with children with all the bells and whistles on board for them; Celebrity caters to adults without all the trappings and is more of a pure cruise experience. Even with designated smoking areas with RCCL, we have always been able to smell the smoke in the casinos. Rare graphicguy Posted March 28, 2022 #19 Share Posted March 28, 2022 (edited) Smoking/Non-smoking areas in the casino? That’s archaic. I thought there were no indoor smoking areas in any part of the ships? Royal may want to rethink that given the popularity of the “no indoor smoking” areas of Celebrity. Casino was packed every night on Celebrity. And, without smoking and reduced capacity sailings. Edited March 28, 2022 by graphicguy

Casino was packed every night on Celebrity. And, without smoking and reduced capacity sailings. Archaic or not, that has been the RCCI policy for years, and in our experience the casino is typically packed on their cruises as well. As previously mentioned, just because Celebrity and RCCL are part of the same holding company, RCI, doesn't mean they share policies. Silver Sea is also an RCI cruise line that maintains their own policies that are not necessarily aligned with RCCL or Celebrity. I, too, prefer the Celebrity policy and if I were a gambler would likely book my cruises exclusively through Celebrity v RCCL.. But apparently over the years that has not taken away from the market that typically books RCCL and also gambles. cruisegirl1 Posted March 28, 2022 #21 Share Posted March 28, 2022 (edited) Currently on Harmony. Smokers constantly walking through the non-smoking side of the casino. In their defense, very poor signage. In fact the only place to see a non-smoking sign is on the small video screen near where you insert/tap your sea pass card. Smoking is not allowed at the bar, but is allowed at the grouping of chairs surrounding the. area. A few cruises ago (when smoking was permitted) a particular bank machines in the front of the casino was non-smoking. The week it is now smoking so the smoking area has expanded m Edited March 28, 2022 by cruisegirl1

ericosmith Posted March 29, 2022 #24 Share Posted March 29, 2022 All I got to say is that walking out of the main dining room on deck 4 a couple of weeks ago, the smoke was insanely thick without even entering the casino. So much for air circulation and filtering.
rhino7176 Posted March 29, 2022 #25 Share Posted March 29, 2022 So obvious who are/aren't smolers on this thread. I wish it was more like the Hard Rock here in Tampa and have systems in place to mitigate the smoke and sections that are truly smoke free.
