I'm curious about the bacon listed as an appetizer. Is that actually just a plate with slices of bacon?

Keep in mind bacon app not on lunch menu. Has anyone ever scored one for lunch?

Thanks for the photos, especially of the carpaccio!  I booked embarkation lunch there just to get carpaccio, it is so hard to find in restaurants.  How was it?

Generally it is good.

Sometimes served differently,

we are used to Arugula and peppercorns with a balsamic dressing.

It varies ship to ship, always goes down well,  it is better on some ships than others.

Enjoy !

I tried it after recommendations on here and found it very disappointing.

Live and learn!

Please note that the bacon is not American cured as you may know it. If you go in knowing this, you will not be disappointed.

LOL, I think my opinions on American bacon are best kept to myself!

I am aware it is marketed as slow-cooked Berkshire pork but it did not bring back fond childhood memories of my mother’s cooking!

Thanks, but I will stick to Mushroom soup and Carpaccio in future.

It reminds of pork belly, but it really isn't so it can't be called that.  Honestly, though, I'll eat pretty much anything with or called "bacon".

And the Carpaccio, much better at Giovanni’s

Isn’t simplicity the key to a good carpaccio?

seems like a heck of a lot going on, on that plate.

Personal choice.

I agree with you, but it’s nice to see the different offerings

I posted two pictures of Carpaccio from the same ship, two different speciality restaurants and two completely different takes on, agreed a simple dish.

And I have other photos of more variants from other RC ships.

Variety is the spice of life

Happy Days!

The ONLY restriction is one entree.  (using the UDP is different).  They will bring you as many starters and sides and desserts as you want.

I purchased the UDP for my upcoming cruise. I was going to skip the apps and sides and just order surf and turf...steak and lobster...not sure if I can do that though.

Like Carol said, using UDP is different

Don’t be afraid to ask.

We had UDP and having two of something was never an issue.

We are doing Chops lunch.  Sauteed mushrooms aren't on the menu as a side.  Do you think they would add them if we request it?

No harm in asking 😊

Just remembered, recently on Explorer they were short on mushrooms 🍄

(Supply chain issues)

I asked for a mushroom omelette with a side of mushrooms.

I was politely informed I could only have in the omelette.

I think there was one mushroom chopped into 20 pieces in that offering.

Next it was no cucumber 🥒  for our Martinis 🍸🤣

From somewhere on internet

The global mushroom market reached a value of $45.8 billion in 2020 and is expectedto reach more than $63 billion by 2027. But despite increased buzz, supply chain challenges make it increasingly difficult for mushroom farmers to ship enough product to turn a profit. While farmers of all kinds face COVID-related shortages, mushroom farmers have encountered special difficulties accessing essential inputs in time for rapid mushroom yield cycles.

Maybe why there was a soup crisis 🍄

LOL it was on your recommendation that I tried it! I thought I could rely on you  - at least on culinary matters!

And I was well aware of what it was supposed to be.
