Wish I could. It’s definitely on my list. I don’t have the vacation time for that this year. There’s also a Saints home opener in there.

Saints and Mets yet you're from somewhere just north of Texas?  Interesting.

This is going to be my 19th cruise--all on Carnival. Second time on Magic. First time to New York and Bermuda. First time with Ryan Rose as CD. It looks like he's going to be the primary Magic CD for the next year. There will be a little stint with Joey this winter while Ryan gets Vista class experience on the Panorama.

You'll be onboard during the NCAA football opening weekends.   Let us know if they have any of the games on (whether it's the casino bar, or Red Frog).  TIA

Sure will. I’ve cruised that week quite a bit and usually they have whatever games are on espn.

So excited to read this review- only time I've ever been to NYC was on a trip from N Carolina back home to Toronto- we got off the interstate, drove downtown, drove along Broadway, 5th Ave and a few other highlights then hit the Lincoln Tunnel back out of the city- elapsed time no more than 45 minutes, at 4 in the morning! The city looked like a scene from one of those post-apocalyptic movies where the people are all gone and the zombies are about to start to roam!

I've always wanted to go back and what better way to see it than through Saint Greg's eyes!

I used to work at South Street Seaport in NYC and loved the view from Pier 17.  Now there is a concert venue on a rooftop that looks incredible.  Even if you don't do the concert, Pier 17 has some great views to enjoy with a cocktail.

If you want an iconic view of Manhattan, The River Cafe in Brooklyn is very awesome!

Thanks! One of my things is going to be hitting rooftop bars after my shows. So there’s definitely going to be some of those.

Hey Greg, You're sailing from my home port!  I'm right across the GW Bridge in NJ.  Your pre-cruise research and plans are amazing.  I've lived here all my life and haven't done 3/4 of what you're doing.  Sailing out of NY is awesome!  Be sure to duck as you go under the VZ Bridge!!!Haven't cruised since 10/2019 due to personal things but I had to go back so I'm also sailing on Magic to Bermuda 9/24-9/30.  I'm going to be glued to your report!!!  One question: If I want to continue cruising I'll be doing "solo."  Any advice how to get the best fare?  Oh and we're all life long YANKEE fans!!!

I don’t think I have any super great secrets. Right now I’m not booking anything that isn’t on sale.

When I say I got a good deal someone always comes in and says “me too I paid $50.” It’s nothing like that. I’m not getting anything like that. I paid $600 for this cruise. Tax, title and license. I normally see this cruise in the 1,200-1,400 range. That’s why I jumped on it.

I pay for my cruises with 10% off gift cards from Allstate. So that takes the 600 down to 540. I transferred the booking to a travel agent who gives me about 10% OBC plus whatever carnival gives me. I don’t think carnival gave me anything on this booking but the TA OBC basically takes it down to $490.

Here’s a comparison. I could only find one Bermuda cruise from NYC in August-September next year. It’s a couple weeks earlier and a 4-day instead of 5 but this is my room on that cruise compared to what I paid during the sale.

Thanks Jamman. I actually have followed yours and Patti's adventures.  "Things" have just been tough!  Jim's sister is going on this cruise with me.  I'm just going to close my eyes, grit my teeth and get on the ship.  (and head for the nearest bar lol) We always wanted to sail on either Breeze or Magic so it's time to start fulfilling dreams!

Looking forward to this! 😄

Only was able to see NYC for a few hours between the Horizon TA and its first cruise to Bermuda.  Unfortunately, was never so sick on a ship as I was then...picked up the cruise crud...omg.  But first time to NYC so dragged my @ss out for a walk.  Carnival let us stay on the ship overnight so I had bought a ticket for Kinky Boots, but so bummed, I just wasn't up to it.

There was a cool museum across from the dock, I could at least see the planes from my balcony. 😛

So looking forward to your tour of NY since mine sucked so bad.  :)
