Moderno timing question

About how long is the experience in Moderno? My friend booked dinner for 7:30pm on the Sunday we board and then, after I checked the NFL schedule, saw that the SNF game that night is Eagles vs Cowboys (GO BIRDS!) so I'm seriously considering changing the time to an earlier slot, if possible. This is also assuming the ship will be playing the game, but I've heard that is very likely. I don't suppose they have TVs in Moderno... 😂

I generally budget 2 to 2.5 hours for the specialty restaurants.  I suppose you COULD try to rush it more, but if I were you I’d just move the reservation up.  As for the game being shown, I couldn’t tell you because I don’t really understand the NFL’s blackout restrictions and the national vs local broadcasts.

So odds are they will have the Game if it is a nationally broadcasted game, only thing is they use a satellite so it may go in and out.

I would THINK so, I don’t remember what all channels the ship carries, but if Sunday Night Football is broadcast via the NBC local affiliates they might not have it at all.  But I think they’re on Peacock now?  So you could be able to stream it via the wifi package I believe

At Moderno they walk around the room with the various foods and you tell them what you’d like.  It’s sort of like… a walking meat salad bar.

anyway, since you’re not waiting for them to cook an order for you it can be a pretty quick meal depending on how much you want to eat.

Also… they do have a regular salad bar too  😂

There are no US commercial or cable channels (other than cable news). Any US programming would have to be brought in by exception.

I budget at least 90 minutes for dinner. Unless you totally skip the excellent salad bar.

As a NY Giants fan I have no sympathy. However, as a fellow CC, I would go for 7pm to be safe. I do not recall TV in Moderno.

Of course you don't have sympathy to offer to the Eagles - you guys are going to need all of it 😉

(says the Patriots season ticket holder who probably won't have a much better season)

When I've been on an NCL ship during NFL season, the only place I found NFL playing was in The Local (or its predecessors) and then there was no sound available.

Thanks, everyone! I think I'll try to move it up to at least 7pm. We definitely want to enjoy as much as we can of the meats and I've heard fairy tales about the salad bar! I was on a RCCL cruise in November and they had *some* NFL games, but I didn't know if it would be the same on NCL (first time) and also hoping that since it's the SNF game they will have it in at least one bar. Though, with the history of my team and, if preseason is any indication, I may not miss much if it starts before we are done 😂

You may just want to eat and skip the game.  Watching that beat down Da Boys gonna put on them birds will make you throw up all that delicious meat 🍖🥓

BTW, I'm also cruising this day and I'm expecting it to be shown since it's the Sunday night game.  I hadn't thought about when to eat until I saw your post.  Think I'll do 6:00 somewhere, giving me plenty of time to eat, change into my 88 jersey and find a good seat up on the pool deck

If it's a Caribbean cruise, ESPN Caribbean usually carries the nationally televised NFL games;  if not, they'll generally have them on one of the in cabin channels at least.

They'll also sometimes have them in one of a few places;  the casino bar being the best bet for the night game, followed by the local/o'sheehans, or the district if the ship has it and there's no live event going on (most nights there is though so they only show the day games).

My first choice for the night game will be the cigar lounge, followed by the casino bar

I was on an NCL ship last year in September, October and November. On every ship, they showed 2 games on Sunday (the Local, the big screen by the pool and the DBH), the Sunday and Monday night game and even the Thursday night game. It was also available on your cabin TV on a channel called Sports24 (which was normally soccer or tennis). I am not expecting to see much on my Prima TransAtlantic cruise later this month between being in the North Atlantic and the time differences.

It's a New England/Canada cruise... think that makes it any more likely it will be on?
