Live From The Getaway..... 1-8-2023

Gooood morning, beautiful pictures uploaded and looks like a nearly perfect trip southbound on the Atlantic with calm seas. Continued to follow along 😃

@Joesantos CD is Alvin Olivia, info also in the Freestyle Daily. We first met him as ACD on the Breakaway in 2014 and earned his CD promotion later, he's friendly & outgoing and fun. Perhaps Tiara was just relieving and Alvin just came back from vacation as the regular 😎

Does the Sugarcane Mojitos Bar have a dance floor area?

And live band?

We last enjoyed the Magnificent Bliss with a packed dance floor at The Sugarcane and an outstanding band called River something, surely hope they offer the same on Getaway. Like 20,000 steps daily dancing 🕺 and no weight gain on a 14 night cruise in spite of dining and drink package!💃🏽🙏

Now that’s a winner!

In today's daily, it looks like there are a couple performers at the Sugarcane, El Sol and Shelli. I'm guessing El Sol is a band, but somebody on the ship can confirm.

I looks like there is still no band in Syd Normans. I'm hoping that isn't the case next month.

@Joesantos @trbarton I've posted all four of the dailies to this point. There are a lot of activities so not sure where you are reading that there isn't.

I forget the cruise directors name but it's probably one of those four four page dailies if you can look even if it's not listed as a clear bullet point I'm sure it's noted in some activity somewhere.

I didn't scan the sheet we got at the M&G but maybe someone else did and can post that

It is not tiara anymore.

Edit: Oh it must be "Alvin" as that is the first thing listed  on the dailies "another day with Alvin" it's the morning TV thing

I worked for NCL years and years ago and I was his ACD when Alvin was just a Junior Host. Sailed with him on the breakaway when he was CD about a year ago...Awesome guy!

I heard it was a lady name Tiara G something but could find no other information. Seems like a lack of onboard activities so far reading through post, going soon hopefully I’ll post something

I’ve walked around the ship a few times and there always seem to be something going on. The daily is full of activities

Agreed based on my observations last week. Always something going on at all hours...well maybe not midnight to 7 AM'ish. Others seemed to complain about the lack of choice, but I had trouble fitting everything in. I'm glad you're finding plenty to do as well! Maybe it's just because we enjoy soaking the day away in the courtyard and thermal suite so much!

Syd Normans is back, thankfully because on facebook one of the band member's mothers booked this exact cruise to see her daughter, and was so disappointed when it was cancelled.  We were all very excited when the daughter posted Syd Normans was back on for the mom!

The daily says its Adult Karaoke Madness in Syd's today.  The singers in the band in Syd's are the one that run the karaoke and they perform a couple of songs between guest songs.

Karaoke is great for folks who enjoy that. Not me unless I meet someone performing and then it’s one and done. That’s why we’re doing mostly NCL these days more activities theme parties line dancing Zumba live band in Sugarcane mojitos bar.

Recently on a RCL and silent disco karaoke and boring!

Same with Celebrity. Love NCL and hopefully the activities keep coming on post Covid!💃🏽🕺

Tracking the Getaway on marinetraffic - looks like she's about 65 to 70 km or just under 40 nm from San Juan at 2 p.m local time, she's running 21 knots but still calculated to be a bit behind scheduled 4 pm arrival ??   Knowing that satellite WiFi is slow & sluggish, no need to comment until later on - as our scheduled time on the next sailing has already been cut by 1 hour, leaving at 9:30 pm 😧

Meanwhile, feedbacks from the MDR everyday Lunch menu at sea, and the evening Dinner menus "downstairs" as to changes ... are they doing daily Chef's Specials.  Again, no rush from any of the "contributors" riding on Laszlo's Live Report.

Enjoy San Juan & Cheers !!!

We went to Syd’s last night and they were great!  We sat at the Sunset Bar next door at about 730 and there were 4 people lined up already. They opened the doors a few minutes before 8 for a 9 pm show. Our plan was to get in line if the line grew. When they opened the doors  we went right in and got a seat easily. It did fill up. I imagine more people will be there for the next shows.

if anyone is wondering the Wines Around the World tasting is today (day 4) at 230 in Cagney’s.

We went to a 7pm Broadway Unplugged and when it ended went right up to Syds and were able to find seats (I believe they had just opened the doors a few minutes prior) not great seats, but seats nonetheless.

I'm having no issues of slow/sluggish wifi/internet (but I have the premium streaming obnoxiously overpriced package)

We are about here. It's 3:42 local time
