First time on Oasis - observations

Nice to know, this thread's comments in general, because: We sailed Oasis in 2011 when she was still almost-new and fell in love. But again 5 years later, a complete disappointment. The ship already seemed old and worn out, but I think only because cleaning crews were doing a lousy/lackadaisical job, but the ship also seemed noisier/more abrasive than before, for reasons I can't quite put into words. Just not as well-managed overall would probably sum it up.

But we love Oasis class and, especially after a refurbishment, we're looking forward to sailing either Oasis or Symphony next fall. Probably Oasis because Symphony is only offering 6-day cruises and I just don't know if we could handle a day less than 7, lol. In particular we're trying to squeeze Nassau and Jamaica into one cruise, and just try finding something like that. But Oasis and Symphony both have that combo lined up in November 2023 -- the other ports being Coco Cay and Labadee, of course.

All the positive comments here are appreciated and encouraging.

It was very clean and mostly well maintained - one or two areas that needed some work. And obviously had some updates during the amplification in 2019.

We have just booked Wonder for 2023 - based on the itinerary, it’s oasis class and the bonus is its newer!

I'm curious about Wonder too, Oasis class plus several more feet in length and width, according to what I've read. But I'm always curious about new Oasis-class ships 😀

The size difference means nothing. The biggest difference in my opinion is the solarium, which is fully enclosed like the Quantum Class, and is much more comfortable temperature wise and in bad weather it's fully useable.

Also enclosed on Radiance class ships.

Thanks for sharing. We are going to oasis of the sea next week. Can't wait for that.

A quick question, I didn't get a chance to reserve the aqua show as it's sold out when I know I can reserve it. Is there still a chance to go inside to watch it? I heard other shows always have empty seats but not Aqua. Any idea or suggestions?

I actually prefere Freedom class or Voyager before the Oasis class. Not that Oasis was bad, but it never felt like a ship to me but more of a megaresort on land. Seven days wasn't enough to see and do all the things we wanted to either. But that said, it doesn't mean that I will never sail Oasis again, just that i prefer the "smaller" ships in Freedom class. However if I were to do a TA I would probably choose an Oasis class ship since I feel that I might get bored on a Radiance or smaller.

My vote is for Wonder of the Seas.  It seemed like they went the extra mile to enhance almost every area.  Highlights for me were the enclosed (climate controlled) solarium, blue-themed carpeting, split closets in staterooms, & relocated Windjammer.  Plus, with a new ship, everything is pristine.

You can try booking onboard.  Otherwise There will be a line for people who don’t have reservations and any empty seats will be given away about 10mins before the show starts. Get there early if you’re in that line.

We are sailing on wonder next. From what I can see the rooms look more like they were on anthem.

Have to agree, half a dozen Oasis Class sailings and just finished a 17 night Ovation / Quantum cruise. Quantum Class just feels too small,  MDR splint into 4 low ceiling rooms a joke compared to Oasis Class. Music Hall a great venue, Two70 one of the worst entertainment venues I have ever been in. Vintages was our go to spot every night for late cocktails. Oasis Class is our hands down winner.

We felt the same way about the 4 low ceiling dining rooms, felt like we were in someone's basement.  One and done with Quantum class.  It's ashamed since Bayonne is only 1 1/2 hours from us.  Just tried Oasis out of Bayonne in October.  First time on Oasis class, didn't have high hopes after Anthem.  Turns out we LOVED Oasis.  Central Park was just fabulous, all the dining and entertainment venues, water show was amazing.  Can't wait to go on Oasis class again!  The only time it felt crowded was the first day when everyone is wandering around.  Also trying to go to the MDR for breakfast or lunch, LONG lines.  Really ridiculous, still don't understand it.  Still, love the ship.

So we just travelled on oasis for the first time and loved it - it hits our sweet spot!

Observations were:

It’s big but doesn’t feel too big.

We like the amount and variety of things to do (OH gets bored easily) whilst still being able to chill out.

MDR was fine, we had MTD with reserved times. Never waited more than 10 minutes, and the only time we waited that long was lobster night, when it seemed busier than usual. Dining took about an hour on average. Quality was inconsistent, ranging from ok to outstanding ( grand marnier soufflé was a highlight). OH had steak in the MDR twice and said it was excellent and better than his steak in chops.

Chops was underwhelming - appetisers and desserts were good, steak was under seasoned.
150 Central Park was excellent.

Breakfast everywhere was a bit of a sh*tshow. Long waits in MDR and Johnny Rockets, items missing. No speciality coffee available in MDR (said the machine was broken and stayed that way). Last morning just went to Park Cafe, long lines and a manager decided it would be appropriate to take a (long and complicated) order for the people at the back of the queue and prioritise it over everyone else queuing- did not go down well with those of us who had already been waiting 30 mins.

Check in and debarkation was a breeze.

Aqua 80 was brilliant and the comedians were good.

Overall didn’t feel crowded other than in the casino.

Service was generally good with some stars (Edy and Dean in vintages and our cabin attendant Jingwal in particular).

We were front deck 10 in an ocean view balcony and it was very quiet.

Going Sunday for our 3rd time on Oasis.  Cannot wait.

They should as Wonder is a newer version of Quantum class.

Having just sailed on the Wonder & the Odyssey (Quantum class), balcony rooms were similar with different color schemes.  The Odyssey has over-bed storage and the Wonder has more USB ports. The reading lights on the Wonder are about useless.

The stand-by line for most shows, everyone gets in.  Just line up to the left and wait for them to open the seats up.

Likely can walk into show after people with reservations are seated. However may not have seats with backs (will be on bench seats). If it’s “sold out” Consider watching from deck 7 starboard side rock climbing wall staging area. (Port side used for tech support of show).  There are a few chairs/benches there and standing room.

I believe Odyssey is the only Quantum class ship that doesn’t have the low ceiling main dining rooms. Can someone confirm this.
