Diamond and spouse in same cabin

My 27 year old son and his wife are traveling with us in February. My son just did his check in and it came up on his set sail pass that he is diamond status. My husband and I are diamond but my son has not cruised with us since we reached that status. We were gold the last time he was with us. When he logs into his account online his C&A number is not showing. It is showing on his reservation. I think somehow our travel agent set his status to diamond by accident. My question is that since his information now says diamond will his spouse also be diamond on this cruise? If so how should we go about setting her up for those benefits on the cruise? Hope this all made sense!

TA's can't set anyone's status.  Status is set by Royal.  If you were gold when he turned 18, then that is his status.  If you were diamond when he turned 18, then he is a Diamond .The only way his wife will get his status if if she has a C&A number and they live at the same address.   I think this is all correct. I know someone will correct me if it's not.

It clearly states on his set sail that he is diamond. I agree though that he should be gold. What I would like answered is the best way to go about getting his wife the same benefits. Yes they live at the same address.

Does she have a C&A number?  It should be on the invoice with her name if she does.  All he can do is call the C&A desk and work it that way.  I know you want them to have D status, but the reality is, it may and probably will eventually get fixed if it's incorrect.  He can check his actual status on the website by logging into his account and checking his cruise history.  Also, what does it say on the RCI website?  Status shows up at the top of the page when he is logged in.

If you push this, they could reset him prior to cruise😉

I agree! That’s why I came here first. But he bought the deluxe drink package and if he can get 4 drinks each per day he is thinking of canceling it. Haha On the website it says diamond but no CA number. It’s his wife’s first cruise so she doesn’t have a number. Such a weird situation.

If it's her first cruise and she has no number I'd let it go. She has no status. Wait u til after this cruise.

Good idea but it might be too late to link his wife then and have her get the drinks benefit. But maybe not possible to link her anyway since this is her first cruise.

I'd give up on trying to link her. It likely won't end well

And FWIW, our boarding passes are often wrong on casino status. We are both Prime. Sometimes mine says Choice, and our upcoming cruise doesn't have any status for the wife. But it's always correct on our sea pass

That’s valuable information. Thank you!

Agree, they reset my oldest after she added her Husband. Though younger Daughter still listed Diamond+ matching and hasnt Cruised since Sept 2001

Not a problem if you were D+ in 2001

Our problem was we only sailed one Royal cruise prior to kids turning 18. So they never got any matching status. The younger one is kinda pissed that he had to earn his status on his own🤣

In Australia we have a few differences.

There’s been a few cases of travelling companions being matched to the highest tier in the cabin and only for the cruise. After the cruise they go back to what ever they were.

My sister had it a couple of times, boy friend platinum, girlfriend gold both went to diamond, only for the cruise.

Maybe this could be??

So your son wants to take advantage of what appears to be an error in the system to avail himself of perks to which he is not entitled AND extend them to his wife too?

Exactly.  He'd best quit while he's ahead because calling to get his wife matched may lead RC to discover he shouldn't be Diamond and demote his status.

And, if he does, then that's life.   Either he doesn't call and only he can use the status (maybe) or he does and his account gets corrected.  IMHO, asking for his wife to get something he doesn't really have is pushing it and it can change his mistaken status also.

Yeah, no when she turned 18(8yrs ago) I was a D+ and she is still listed that way and she only had 3 Cruises. Oldest lost her D+ for short period when she added her Husband 7yrs ago, they are D+ again as couple by own by her points now. Were Diamond's in the 90's, became D+ day that was invented, I'm now a P. Decade ago as Widower raising 3 Kids I always joked only Date someone with good Insurance and is a Pinnacle

She can get a C&A number now, pre-cruise.

My grandchildren are going on their first cruise in February, and already have their numbers.  🙂

Thank you! I did not know that was possible.
