Carnival Offers

I got home from a NYE cruise -  7 nights on the new Celebration.  We wanted to book again for spring break with some friends.  My friends got some crazy offers and I keep checking and checking but I am not getting the same offers, or any offer.  Her husband is a big gambler, so obviously it is related to that.  We gamble (my 19 year old and I, but little bits...nothing major).  Will I ever get any offers?  As it gets closer will the price drop?  Anyone have a magic ball with the answer?

I’m not sure what little bit means, but I dropped a lot (for me) on a cruise in September and received offers about 2 weeks later. Free interior and DOU.  Meh.

On our last cruise about a month ago, I AGAIN spent way too much in the casino. I’ve gambled more in the last 3 cruises than I have ever.  Still only received small offers like free interiors with DOU.  At this rate, my DH will divorce me.

Hopefully you’ll get something in a few weeks but I think it takes time.

Maybe you can take advantage of one of your friends offers and switch rooms.

I wish we could but she is already using all her offers with some other family members.

I am really a lightweight in the casino - maybe I spent $100 over the entire week (blackjack and slots combined).  My 19 year was more, but still nothing compared to our friends.  He probably played with $500-$600.  Hopefully something will come in the next few days!  My kids are dying to go again.

I get offers for $50 pp inside cabins with $100 onboard credit for cruises leaving in the next day or two from Florida and other southern states.  It would not be worthwhile to travel from northern New York to these places.

VIFP offers are seemingly random.  My wife and I are both Gold with the exact number of sailing days and she always gets the better offers.  I figured since I always create the bookings and pay the fares I would get them.

I don't get any casino offers, most likely because I have never wagered more than $25 in a single cruise.

I am pretty sure that in the long run, I am paying less for my cruises than most folks who get casino offers.

Now if they would only give me a free cruise for playing "Deal or No Deal".  😇

You sound like me, lol!

I didn't get a decent casino offer until I spent too much on three cruises over five months AND I had no other cruises scheduled with Carnival.  Used that offer in December, spent more in the casino, and again got another offer (interior, DOU in casino).  We took it and are cruising to Alaska in May.

On my last cruise I gambled exactly $50, it was gone in about 60 seconds. (Ish) I was done at that point. When I got back I got an offer for basically an inside room to Mexican riviera for just fees\taxes, and $200 OBC. I always get the offers, hubby doesn’t. I am not a big gambler. I gamble a Few dollars a day, and last couple previous cruises I walked away with a pretty good chunk of money. I don’t know why, I’m not complaining, but they are always casino offers.

We get casino offers often. Our offers are usually for a free balcony, drinks everywhere and some free-play $$.  We spend on average, about 2-3 hours per day in the casino... usually after dinner or after the show, before bed....seadays, maybe an hour in the afternoon (especially if the weather is bad)... my husband plays blackjack, I prefer the slots... my husband almost always walks away ahead... I'm happy if I break even, I might lose a couple hundred...that's okay... we like to gamble... and we didn't have to pay for the cabin, so that money is what we take to the casino...

I figure on a 7 day cruise, balcony cabin... costs about $1000 (per person/average)... we pay only the taxes (about $200 pp)... so, if I lose $300 in the casino, I'm still ahead... and I had my fun...sometimes they get me for more....sometimes I hit a jackpot (2x)....

Anita, that is basically what we do. But, we are casino folks. We will visit casino with or without offers because we like it but I would never recommend that anyone gamble with the expectation of free cruise offers. Sometimes we lose our money.

Yes, I agree.... if you are not a casino person, this is not the deal for you. I probably lost close to $1000 before I was sent a casino deal.... Free cabin/lose money...it balances out... like any gambling, the odds are always with the house 😉

Idk maybe someone else knows, but I was told carnival takes the amount for each cruise pts, non cumulative vs rcl system is a certain amount of pts april to april.

So gambling more doesn't add to what you already gambled.

It would be good to know exactly how carnival does pts. Not just hear say. Carnival better to gamble all in one cruise?

It looks like I spend more time and money in the casino than you.  I’ve never been offered a balcony or drinks all over.

I guess Carnival knows that I will keep coming back.

Not forever though, because I’m going over to Royal for the first time in 25 years.  Maybe I’ll get offers over there.  😁

I think royal you need 2500 pts to get offers. .. during one april to april period. They were sending with only 1500. .. over 1 2 3.. as many during the period. I know some counting pts.

Carnival seems more random. Be nice to know.

Yeah, that's not going to do it lol.

While I don't think you have to "lose" a large amount, you have to put in some decent time.  Make sure you are being rated if table playing.  If you aren't doing some moderate betting, it's probably not going to get too far.

Slots tell you your points, and it can be a slow climb.  While I never hit their points requirement, I still get rebooking offers.  I tend to probably spend about $400-$500, and get interior offers.

The fiance gets balcony offers, primarily from blackjack, but she bets big - $100-$200 a hand, especially if a pit-boss is watching (it's pretty obvious).

Still haven't found our way to free drinks anywhere on board, but maybe after our February cruise!  🤣

Going on our 4th RC casino comp in September.  Same advice - if you're table playing, make sure you are being rated by the pit-boss, and bet big when they are watching!

Amount Gambled probably isnt a good barometer on how many offers you get or at least it isnt for me.  I currently have 15 Casino offers including free rooms offers and Cruise once a year at most.  Most ever gambled was a 1000 dollars on our 14 day TA on the Celebration and most of that was gone in 3 days so the rest of the voyage i didnt gamble anything.  Just got a Premier Cruise offer today good for booking up to 8 cruises.  I will keep using the Casino offers cause i like the OBC that comes with them but its not like they will make alot off me.

I’m not.  LOL.  Tables are too intimidating and I have numbers dislexia.  Can’t remember numbers or add numbers to save my life.

So much so that my family makes fun of me 😞

Same with me. I play maybe 300-500 for a 7 day and my wife just plays 10 since she hates gambling. She always gets the much better offers. Weird...

I totally agree, tables are intimidating.  That's why I generally stick to slots lol.  And that's why it's generally a slow climb.  Just a note, you may still get offers on RC if you don't hit the tier points limit, just not instant certificates, there is a website for RCs casino where we get random weekly limited sailing offers.  It's best to sign up for marketing offers to get these though.

I agree with kdr69, most people think it's just the amount of money spent/lost.  There seem to be a lot more factors that go in to it.  It helps to be friendly with the casino host and pit-boss, they really can get you on the offers list.  If you're playing table games, be friendly with the dealer, even develop rapport.  Have a good time!  Woo them with charm!

And then other things, like time spent at a table, yes money lost is a factor, but they also look at how you're betting.  You can tell when the pit-bosses are coming around rating, and they really do watch your play and how you're betting.

Basically, they are looking for degenerates who will spend all day at the casino, and drop a hundo on a hand. (that's a joke, people.  we spend a lot of time in the casino.  And as mentioned, lose (and win) some pretty big hands).

Slots is pretty straight-forward, but slow.  The slots are hard to woo.  😆

My husband also is a similar gambler to you (maybe $100 or less per cruise) and he sometimes gets offers (other times doesn't) and I gamble more than him and very rarely get offers.  He seems to fit into a different demographic than I do. We have never taken a cruise without the other so that is not it.

Gambling/points accrued are mostly applied to the bounceback offer or the "we already miss you offer".  The rest of casino offers are a mix of much marketing data such as income, credit rating, credit cards,  credit availability, land casino status, frequently traveler memberships... who has money (or credit) and the willingness to spend it.
