Are you asking about onboard spending, or the cruise fare?

You can buy cruise cash on the website, which goes on the account for onboard spending, and also stop by guest services to make any payment on the onboard account, I think there are also kiosks on a lot of ships that allow you to make payments.

1.  You need to secure your on board account in some fashion at the begining of the cruise.  You can apply cash or a credit card at the point.

2.  You can go to Guest Services or use the kiosk at any point during the cruise to apply cash to your account.

I did exactly this on my recent cruise. I had a credit card on my booking, but prior to the end of the cruise I used the self-service kiosk to deposit some cash to my account. That reduced the amount that was billed to my credit card at the end of the trip.

We do this every cruise.  Put cash on our account as soon as we board at Guest Services.  On last night go to guest services and "cash out" any $$ that may still be on our account.  (or download it to our card at casino, then cash it out there)

As another poster mentioned you can add cruise cash to your account before you sail to if you like to know you have money "in the bank" when you get on.  I am pretty sure there is a $500 maximum.  However, if you don't use it you will lose it, so don't apply anymore than you plan to use.

I will say one cruise last Fall I went down the last full day at sea in the afternoon on the cruise to put cash on my account (so my credit card would not be charged) and they told me the bill was 0 it had already been settled to my card.  In the past I thought it wasn't until the day you got off, but this was the day before we got off.... so I thought that was kind of odd.  I ended up with 2 charges, though both were small (as I apply cash or gift cards "as I go" most times all throughout the cruise).  The one they had charged the last day at sea, and then like $5 on something I charged late that last night.

Can you apply the gift cards from your room? Or do you use the kiosk? Or go to guest services with the gift card?
