THE WORST CRUISE I'VE TAKEN and the RESPONSE FROM MSC.

The only thing I would want is the OBC as I wouldn't cruise with MSC again even if the cruise was free. I didn't book the Yacht Club as I didn't feel it would be worth the cost and glad I didn't as my issues would have been the same.

I only made the post because the MSC response to my letter was unsatisfactory. I did in my response give a time frame for a response and waited a few days before I posted.

Most cruise line onboard credit is non-refundable if not used.  Why didn’t you go to the casino on the last day to get the unspent onboard credit back? Very easy. Charge the excess OBC to your room card at any machine, then cash out the ticket, take it to the casino cashier and get the cash.  You then have no balance due you and the cash in your pocket.

This is the kind of traveler that cruise lines should probably pay to stay home.

Extension cord: I carry one with me, along with a small 3-to-1 splitter so that I can plug in multiple devices. A "seasoned traveler" should bring what he needs and not expect a cruise ship to provide things like extension cords.

CPAP user and cigar smoker? Good thinking.

I forgot to mention the “flamingo dancers” mentioned by this “music business executive.” I assume they were wearing huge feather headdresses and looked like flamingoes…

As opposed to FLAMENCO dancers, who, uh, do not.

(from someone who really DID spend more than 40 years in the music business and who played in most of the largest casinos in Las Vegas).

😂😂😂

First I've never had an extension cord issue in over 30 cruises beginning in 1999. Second MSC had my request in writing and responded that my needs would be in my cabin. I do carry adaptors as well as a backup battery.

Guess you're not a doctor as a CPAP machine has nothing to do with smoking.

Finally you live in Tx

No, but someone who smokes cigars could give a crap about their own health.

I have been traveling professionally, since I was about 20 years old, I’ve played concerts on five continents. I don’t expect airlines, cruise ships, or hotels to provide the things I need; I’ll bring them with me.

I do live in Texas, but I lived in Nashville for 34 years and toured with world-class artists; I watch out for the crazies, both here in this godforsaken state, and on cruise ships as well.

Isn't this horse dead yet?  No one here is going to change @mscdivina2016 or the OP's positions about their experiences and what they thought should have been done because of them.  Both are using their experiences to grind an axe and smite MSC for not responding in the way they wanted.

MSC are who they are.  They aren't like other mainstream cruise lines.  They do have clunky IT, have some strange policies, approach food and service differently, and will never win any customer service awards.

Those things have been talked about for years so I'd assume MSC is sticking with them.  None of that's dissuaded me from sailing with them.  People should do their research before booking any individual cruise or with a particular cruise line.  Those researching MSC would find numerous references to the things they do differently.  If those things clash with an individual's expectations than perhaps MSC isn't the cruise line for them.

I did address the OBC with the officer in charge of the customer service department. He sent a letter to the office which was denied.

When you asked why specialty restaurants and drink packages weren't charged to your OBC what did they tell you?  That doesn't makes sense to me, as it seems as if my prior charges have typically come from OBC and then once that's depleted, only then do they charge my credit cards.

The exception might be items not booked while actually onboard the ship.

Many of the issues with customer service could have been handled by the concierge. Not guaranteeing that the problems would have all been fixed if you were in the Yacht Club but YC guests generally get better service from the concierge than non-YC guests get from customer service.

The cigar smoking would have still been outside, though.

Actually if you use a C-Pap, you most likely have sleep apnea.  You are more likely to develop Sleep Apnea if you are overweight or a smoker or both.  Since you needed a sharps container, probably diabetic.  And btw, Im not a doctor but an RN.

I don't think we should pick up on the OP for possibly being diabetic, or being overweight (if he is) or having sleep apnea.

I'm a type 2 diabetic, and only need sharps container for glucose testing.  Don't smoke, not particularly overweight.  Friend of mine has sleep apnea.  Doesn't smoke, just a bit overweight.

Fine to pick on the content (to a point), but I think picking on folks directly or subtly for health issues probably shouldn't be done.

You have to read what I said.  You are more likely to develop sleep apnea if you smoke or are overweight.  If that is not the case and non smokers and or people who are underweight are more likely to develop sleep apnea then please let me know where I can read about this.

Even though I replied to your post, I'm picking up on a general theme here.

I don't have time to read 6 pages of responses to this OP's complaints which have to be a joke, right?

No extension cord, why didn't you bring one? No water for your CPAP device, why didn't you bring a bottle on board until you got situated? No convenient smoking areas? Are they more convenient on Carnival? So few TV channels in the mid-Atlantic. LOL. The singers voices didn't match? Heaven forbid.

This was a joke, right?

Like you said, YOU are not a doctor. You are not qualified to make any judgements, but are probably the reason many people won't go to the doctor for fear of being judged, even if they have something life threatening going on.

I opened the original post, shook my head and rolled my eyes and moved along. I'm surprised by the responses and although I agree with many points, no one here knows anything about other peoples life experiences, etc. Who doesn't "live" a little and do things they might not normally do on vacation? I think there is enough said and the OP has probably gotten the point. If not, they will likely go elsewhere and some people can go back to living their "perfect" vice-free lives.

Maybe you should learn to read and don't put words in my mouth. The Flamenco artist was solo and was amazing.

You as a musician may have traveled the world, but you weren't good enough to become a star! Have any of the musicians you traveled with presented you with a gold album plaque for helping their careers? Well pal I have over 50 for what I've done.

Look up what a CPAP machine does and like I said it has nothing to do with smoking. Also, my health is fine.

If my Drs personal and heart were to tell me to stop smoking Cuban Cigars I would, but neither has.

Yes, I have type 2 diabetes which is under control.

The same for me.  Type 2, well-controlled.

As a side note, my (now retired) doctor told me it was fine to smoke a cigar every now and then.  I haven't smoked one in several years, but the conversation went something like this:

Me: Do I have to worry about smoking a cigar every now and then?

Doc: How often is "every now and then"?

Me: Less than once per month.  Maybe 1 time every 3-6 months.

Doc: Do you smoke it outdoors or in a well-ventilated location?

Me: Yes.

Doc: Look, not smoking is always better than smoking, but that said, do I consider infrequent cigar smoking in a well-ventilated location to be much of a health risk?  Not at all.

To MNpurple,

Having never dealt with MSC I tried to deal directly with them. After receiving an unsatisfactory response I wrote them and waited a reasonable time for a response which never came therefore my post.

You picked up on what others have written and their assumptions about me. I was tempted to respond to more, but it isn't worth my effort based on in my opinion their not being in my social or economic circles.

While on the cruise I met others who were dissatisfied yet continue to sail MSC based on price. I am fortunate to be able to cruise anytime regardless of cost and the only thing that holds me back is the single supplement.

Actually, maybe OP should fire his TA as they were the ones that recommended MSC, even though he has been on Regent, Silver Seas, etc...

Alternatively, an experienced cruiser as the OP claims to be would surely do at least a little research prior to booking!

Stockjock my Drs are basically saying the same thing. I don't smoke daily. I smoke when I cruise, hang in a cafe when traveling or playing in a casino. I don't smoke in my house only while relaxing at my pool.

OP, now I know that you are teasing us😀. You play in the casino and yet you manage to leave the ship with over $300 of unspent OBC, why did you not just gamble it? Also why would someone as well heeled as you, be so upset about losing $300 of 'free' money?

Sorry that you didn't like MSC, at least now you know, but please don't try to belittle those of us who enjoy their product regardless of cost.

Some people are loaded because they are tight, that is not an offense.

OP, you are lucky you got a response from MSC at all, even though it was an obviously complete and utter bollocks reply.

Oh guess what, my spell checker corrected a few for me, I must be dumb.
