Guest Cruisenewbie20181 Posted April 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2023 Do you get a “pass card” along with the medallion? Do I need to have my medallion and my wife’s when I go up to the bar to get two drinks? Do I need to have my phone with me to unlock cabin door or just the medallion? Is the medallion waterproof? Thank you

Thank you No, the Medallion takes the place of your cruise card. You do not need your wife's medallion to order two drinks. You do not need your phone with you. Yes, it is waterproof. memoak Posted April 23, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2023 Easiest way to order drinks for 2 I have found is just give the bartender your cabin number that way they can see both accounts and charge them to the correct accounts if you have a package. That can keep you from running out of your 15

It does have a battery and does transmit a very low power signal when required.

rhblake Posted April 26, 2023 #10 Share Posted April 26, 2023 It is my understanding that if you and your wife are on one of the drink packages you will need both medallions, or her drink will count against your daily drink allotment. If that does not matter, then one medallion is fine.

We're on the Caribbean Princess as I type this. You don't need two medallions to order two drinks assuming you are both on the same reservation/drink package. When we boarded the ship the bartenders were asking for your room number and it appeared there was some issue with the medallions. Well, the cruise is half over and they are still asking for room numbers when you order drinks. So far on this cruise we haven't even used our medallions to order drinks. But the medallions open the room door just fine.

Bartenders have told me that it's often faster for them to use your room number as their devices get overwhelmed as when it's crowded, lots of other passenger photos show up on their tablets. Trying to find one of many passengers with gray hair and glasses can be a slow process and prone to error.

I’m sure things are somewhat different from our sailing on CB 2 months ago, but the Wheelhouse bar was never too busy and our medallions worked fine there. I do hope the entertainment hasn’t changed. The Scottish piano player at Crooners was outstanding. The Irish folkie played there and in the Wheelhouse and we caught him every night. Both named Tommy, IIRC. Then the Russian violinist couple! Incredible.
