No real way to know if they were gone (as in sold) or not released as available inventory.

They're still not on the web site here, don't know what the problem is.  Anyway I booked by phone with a very patient phone rep reading out the available cabins while I checked the deck plans.  The price is comparable to what is being paid in the US, taking into consideration no OBC.

Thanks and you’re probably right. But from our point of view it’s more about the journey and Brazil is one place we haven’t been that we’ve wanted to visit, but without having to get a YF shot. As far as being a waste of time, I doubt that as we will be booking PCL excursions at every port and seeing places we’ll probably never visit again. On top of that, we’re booking a Penthouse cabin on this 18-day cruise for about $325 pp/day, including the Plus package, after subtracting all of the OBC we’re getting from PCL and our TA’s discount we’re getting. 😁

As far as the leg from BA in the other direction, we’re doing that this coming January as a B2B combined with an Antarctica cruise.

Are you getting the YF vaccine?  That and the BR visa is a pain.

No, as I'm 71 now and have no desire to deal with the possible vaccine consequences of getting it at my age. But, since this itinerary isn't going down the Amazon, I'm not too worried.

Well, I held an aft balcony on Sapphire for a couple of days on the 17 day Antarctica (Jan 5 2025) while I worked on our calendar for 2024/25 but it just didn’t work out due to two other cruises we booked.  It also wasn’t eligible for a casino discount (though that may happen in the future as the one in Dec 1 2024 shows as a comp) so I released it yesterday (hope one of you could people waiting for a B4 got it!).

If and when the Jan sailing shows up as a comp, we will be on it!  In the meantime we’re splurging on an Oceania from Miami to Lima in December and then taking a comped cruise NCL Star  from BA to Ushuaia in Feb which goes to some of the same places.  We plan to spend extended time in Lima, Montevideo/Punte d’Este Ushuaia and Cuenca/Quito before heading to Lisbon on a repositioning cruise in March.

We took the Star Princess from LA to Rio in 2015/16 and it was one of the best cruises we’ve ever experienced (right up there with the Baltic, Alaska and Norwegian fjord cruises).  Happy sailing, all.

BTW, Hello, and hope you are doing well since our Med cruising last Fall.  You may recall we had a tour together off Island P to Ephesus in Nov.

Hi all , I’ve been following along reading all this information about Alaska and this will be our very first time going to Alaska so we wanted to get it right .

we really like the 22 day ultimate Alaska cruise on the Ruby princess and would book a balcony cabin , can anyone give any recommendations what balconies would be best , port or starboard side ? and most importantly are any of the balconies protected from the elements with a over hang, any tips are welcomed.

I would do starboard going north.

We always book port side cabins for Alaska.

Seems like it would be more scenic on starboard side for this 22 day itinerary.

Not sure, as we always do port side.

Now, I’m questioning myself. 😳

We are Ruby so cannot see pricing or cabin availability today. Can a TA see this today? Will it be available early tomorrow or after 8am west coast time?

thanks

Ask your TA.  It may be available to see after 9 ET tonight, like the So America cruises were.  Your TA can book it tmrw.

Put a hold on my favorite B4 this morning for the 22 day out of San Francisco.  Amazing itinerary but was stuck with the $800 deposit since I'm out of FCD.

There is a $200 deposit promo available for the next day or so.  I emailed my CVP, she called me about 10 minutes later and was able to apply the $200 deposit under the promo - Done.  Hopefully TA's can do the same, not sure but worth checking if you're out of FCD.

I received an email that my Alaska 2025 was unlocked.  NOT, lol.  I am only Platinum.

I think I am staying with my 28 day Alaska Holland America in 2025 but still want to check out the Princess prices.

I reserved a cabin on the 22-day Princess cruise but am also booked on the 28 HAL cruise.  Prices were MUCH better on HAL (in addition to the included the shore excursion credit, OBC, specialty dining).  Definitely going on the HAL cruise since it will be in the Arctic Circle during the summer solstice—but, hey, we have time to see if the prices decrease.

I appreciate your input on the Princess pricing since I can not see it yet.  We are booked in a partially obstructed OV(Deck 4) on the HAL cruise.  I hesitated on the HAL 2024 and prices rose and sold out!   There have been a few cabins drop back in but prices still much higher than 2025.

You’ll see it tomorrow but I booked an obstructed OV with the Princess Plus package for $10,000 for two.  We’ll get shareholders on Princess as well ($250).

For comparison, we booked the same category on the HAL 28-day cruise for $10,500 that includes early booking bonus of $400 OBC, Educator $100 OBC, shareholders $250 OBC, FCD OBC, $200 OBC for booking another cruise within a certain time frame, premium WiFi, Elite beverage package, prepaid crew appreciation, $300 pp shore excursion credit, and 3 specialty dining meals (2 Pinnacle Grill, I Canaletto).

As Elites, we like the free laundry on Princess but I’ve purchased the unlimited laundry for the HAL cruise back when it was $160.

We will probably end up doing both cruises but who knows?  We like cruising from SF but I’d like to see what HAL will be offering in 2025 in Alaska.

@disneyochem - Are you booked on the HAL 2024 or HAL 2025?   You say you will probably end up doing both, but the HAL and Princess 2025 are during the same timeframe.  It sounds like I will definitely be staying with the HAL 2025 as Princess is more.  I have a casino discount associated with my HAL 2025.  Thank you again.  Hope to see you on HAL in 2025.

EDITED TO SAY:  I misread.  I am paying more on HAL for 2025 even with my casino discount!  I may have to consider Princess.  I sure love the HAL itinerary.

We’re on the 2024 HAL cruise.

Happy cruising!

That's the impression it got but don't know for sure.

Something to ask about before paying the deposit.

We are looking at either the Grand 17 day or the Ruby 22 day. My TA site says $800 non refundable deposit but the Princess site with same price says $800 refundable. Has the deposit been refundable for others?  We are cruising this month so would wait until on board to book, but DH is cabin particular.
