WHICH SHIP DO YOU THINK HAS THE BEST CASINO ?

We have been fortunate enough to have cruised on most Princess ships over the years with the exception of Majestic, Regal and Coral. My husband would probably respond that the best casino is always one with a Craps table. We have been on a couple of Princess cruises that didn’t have one, but that has been a long while ago.

Most are pretty similar - actually perhaps a little nicer and roomier on the older ships. The casinos on the Royal class ships tend to feel smaller because they have a lot of slots very tightly packed. As a slot player I’m sure you would not be disappointed by any Princess casino because you will have lots of options.

But when I really pressed him for an answer he said if he had to choose his favorite it would be the Diamond Princess. Both the Sapphire and Diamond have very spacious casinos and the Diamond has a cool jungle theme with “trees” growing in it that makes for a unique environment.

We don’t gamble, but the one that seemed the largest that we’ve seen was on the Majestic. The ship was designed for the Asian market, and the casino reflects that with more specialized sections from what we could tell.

Any opinions or do you think they are all about the same.

Thanks

They're all going to give you the same useless odds. That's a given. Other than that.. it depends on what your idea of "best casino" is? Smoke-free as said above is probably the best! 🙂

What does best mean?

Best odds? While slots can have large payouts they all typically have the highest "win" percentage for the casino. That is why there are so many of them with all the sounds & glitter. They are casino's major money makers and at sea payouts are not controlled. They can be set as desired.

Most machines or largest area? It appears to be the new Sun Princess. The Majestic also has a larger casino.

Smoke free? None.

For some reason all the casino's on the Royal class ships have terrible smoke filtration systems. We tend not to use them as much as the older designs on the older ships.

Their loss, as we very seldom win much playing the slots anyway. 😅

We have noticed this too along with the fact that even though they may actually have more square footage, the casinos on the Royal class ships just feel smaller and more cramped. Maybe because they have more slot machines? I never win much either! DH is the gambler on our team and he sticks to the tables, but I occasionally hit up a machine. Never goes well! 😂

Majestic might be the biggest casino as the ship was made for Chinese passengers who gamble.

Seeing that 1/4 of Chinese people smoke that's very likely.

Seeing the reference to the Majestic and Asia based cruise markets reminds me of one of our cruises without a Craps table - poor, sad, DH!

We love the Diamond and Sapphire and had cruised on them a number of times on West Coast and Alaska cruises before they moved over to Asia based cruises. We happened to be on the last Sapphire cruise before it transitioned - it was a Pacific Coastal out of Los Angeles.

They were already heavily prepping for its new market and a number of things on the ship were changing, including in the Casino and the games offered. There were new tables and machines with completely unfamiliar games. But to the absolute horror of my DH, the Craps table had been unceremoniously removed and he was bereft!

Funny enough, he had to focus on poker and blackjack that trip - came home a winner and got a nice FCC from the casino host as an apology for the lack of the Craps table, so all was well as far as I was concerned. But he still complains about that one!!

I’ve only sailed Royal class ships, but the biggest selection of slots was on the Sky (but I haven’t been on the Majestic yet)

after viewing your portfolio, they would be greeted with open arms 😉

There are no non smoking casinos in the Princess fleet. Our biggest complaint is that there are almost always more slots on the smoking side of the casino of all ships

Yes there are! Any ships sailing out of Australian and NZ ports for a start are non-smoking indoors.

Those are itineraries not ships. All ships have had smoking at one time some are just worse than others. It always amazes me that some ships have horrible tobacco smell while in others you can hardly tell

You're splitting hairs. When those ships are home-ported down under for much of the year.. there is no smoking inside whatsoever. The casinos are 100% smokefree.

THIS^^

We were told once, since the ship is operating in International waters, there are no rules, except the ones the ship decides and sets... and remember, the house ALWAYS wins.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) that’s not able to be seen by marketing departments or central credit..so only the minimum $2000 line of credit for me

Hi Karatemom2, We will be on the Sapphire later this year, December 2024, with relatives doing the Antarctica Buenos Aires RT and our traveling companions are interested in playing poker on sea days. We were on the Emerald in Jan/Feb 2024 doing the Panama Canal and they had poker tournaments on the sea days and live games anytime there was enough people. I have found some Princess patters for the Sapphire on the South America cruises but they don't list anything about poker tournaments. Looking at your comments it sounds like poker is only offered for certain markets. I didn't realize that would happen. It might mean that the guys will have to find something other than poker to play. Our guys would be just as bereft if the poker tables were not there as your husband was. Did he have to complain to the Casino director a lot about the craps table being removed? Thanks for any information you can provide. Much appreciated.  Lucinda
