Crew access doors Princess Cruises

Hi all,

I'm doing my due diligence in making sure I find a nice quiet room for my wife and I. I have suites on both sides (no connecting door) and suites above and below. I can't find the location of crew access doors anywhere. I called Princess Cruises, and they told me that they didn't know either. And so now I'm here. Help!

Rarely, if ever, will there be crew access doors midship.  I would be more concerned about steward closets.  They normally are very quiet, but I have been in a cabin (not suite) next to said closet and I could hear them through the walls.

It would truly help if you listed ship/cabin.

What does the term "crew access door" mean to you? And what ship are you looking at?

And I agree with above ...

We had a cabin, once, and I was concerned because on cabin reviews a couple people complained it was by the crew stairs. I can’t remember the ship or cabin but I’m pretty sure it was when we first started cruising with Princess so a smaller, older ship. I’ll try to see if I can figure it out but don’t hold your breath. I brought ear plugs in case it was a problem. I only heard the crew late at night a couple times and it just wasn’t a problem for us. If you have a specific cabin number, Google it. You might find reviews from people who booked that particular cabin.

I had a corner balcony with an outside crew staircase right next to it and a door out to it and never heard a sound. I had a forward inside cabin with a crew door pretty much right next to me and never heard a sound although I did see a crew member a couple of times. I agree that the steward closet might be more of a concern than any other type of crew access although I have been very near to one of those and never had an issue either.

We were across the hall from 2 closets and it was a mistake I will never make again. It was not only opening and closing doors early morning but trying to walk back to our room was an obstacle course of carts. It was 2 closets next to each other. One was where they replenished the carts and the other was storing carts. This was not on a Princess ship so walls may have been thinner. I make sure there are no blank spaces around us as well as above and below when I book a

cabin. I am also a very light sleeper so that doesn’t help.

Hi all,

Thanks you for taking the time to help me with this question. Fairly new cruiser here, it will be my 4th. I consider the crew access doors to be where crew goes in and out for luggage, room service, room cleaning, and those types of activities. We will be sailing on the Ruby Princess room D408. Thank you again.

Looks like a great location.  Mid ship, close to mid ship elevators.  It does have white space across the hall, but impossible to tell if there are crew doors near you.  I will say however, we have been next to crew doors on other ships and it was never an issue.

I personally would book that cabin.

Great cabin location. I wouldn't worry about the crew doors too much in terms of noise. Most of that white space is mechanical. There is probably a steward service area around there somewhere. Crew stairs and elevators are located adjacent to pax stairs/elevators, they just are not shown in the diagrams.

In my experience, noise from crew going about their business has never really been an issue. Only one time I can remember in fact... Norwegian Jewel, deck 4, all the way forward, cabin 4501. I believe there is a maintenance shop or something up forward of that cabin, sounded like Santa's Workshop until we called Guest Services. D408 on Ruby won't have issues like that.

That is good to know that the crew main access doors should be where the passenger elevators and lifts are.   That would make sense.

If I am seeing correctly, that is a large white-space crew area there in that whole center of the ship.

If you wanted to check to see if there is one available at D506-D522, that would be a sure-thing, as only interior cabins across the hall.

Happy planning!

Can I piggyback on this thread, and hope for you expert's best GUESS...   Yes, it would be a guess.

Looking at SUN Princess.  Want mid-ship, mid-deck...  (less walking and less motion are key)

We wanted to look at those mid-ship balconies on deck 10, that have a bit larger balconies...

But, can not find one that works available.  And, notice that the HIGH blue glass along the Cabana Deck below will be coming up right there....  Many are adjoining, as well.

Want to be on a bump-out section, with less 'deck' below between balcony and the sea.

12323 fits the bill...  but there is a very small section of white-area right there in the hall.

This is giving me pause!!!!   Seems hard to find a great cabin and location that ticks all the boxes!

Any thoughts???

Crew elevators are usually "behind" the midship elevators.  Sometimes they are hidden behind enclosed areas.

For instance:

Public areas (decks 5, 6, 7):  you will find them forward of public elevators.  Crew use them to move art work, dishes, etc.  A few new passengers will try to access them.  You need a crew card.

Cabin decks:  you will find them behind double doors forward of midship elevators.  I was "escorted" to isolation cabins using crew elevators and passage ways.

If you are concerned about crew elevators, book a cabin aft of the midship elevators.

Large white area...I recall but can't remember which deck...room service is located.  Those near that area will get their orders faster.  I believe there were 2 room service locations, but the memories are old.

Which is better?  Inside cabin across the hall or mystery white space?  That's a toss up.  I've had noisy neighbors across the hall...

So, they have deck plans on the app that show you what you are looking for ..

D408 is nearly directly across from a small hallway or steward room.  It’s not always the stewards that are noisy, it’s the people that stand out in front of your door that stop to chat with them.  If you wish for a really quiet cabin, you may want to move up a few cabins.
