My wish list for Princess

On my wish list is 1/ A FAIR PRICED PRINCESS PLUS/PREMIER package for light and non-drinkers.  I'm a very light drinker, but like an occasional specialty coffee.  IMO the packages are NOT A VALUE for a light and non-drinker. YMMV.  I really struggle with being taken advantage of with the packages. Maybe something like a tiered package, 5, 10, 15 drinks at graduating prices.  One size does not fit all. I'd even be happy if they just brought back the coffee package or at least let elites trade the minibar for specialty coffees like we used to do. 2/ Do away with the surcharge to choose your own cabin.  That is actually preventing me from booking a cruise I am looking at because I do not want Princess to choose for me.  I have more, but this is enough for now.

Agree with you.also, I drink but my wife doesn’t, so it never pays for both of us to get Plus or Premier. I was able to buy a drink package just for me on a Royal Caribbean cruise once, & a drink package for me & soda for my wife by calling their customer service pre cruise another time.

We got off our first Princess cruise earlier this month.

My suggestion has to do with the cabin LG TV's. Princess needs to take the time and turn off the "TruMotion" setting. (Soap Opera Effect) It's a simple 4 step process using a remote with full programing functions like the one you have at home.

There is nothing worse than watching a newer multi-million dollar Hollywood blockbuster film and having it appear to be filmed on a high school stage with a camcorder. Once you see it you cannot unsee it.

That effect is absolutely nauseating whenever I have the misfortune of seeing it enabled on a television in a public place.

If Princess wants to maintain the image of a higher-end cruise line, they certainly shouldn’t be enabling a television feature which only serves to signal that someone has a complete lack of taste or culture. Absolute Philistines.

I actually meant so I could turn it up so I don’t have to stick my head in the hallway to hear the announcement.  The emergencies would come through as normal.

I know it's not popular, but I'd rather have announcements in the cabin.  We have missed things just because we either didn't hear the hall announcement or got there too late.

To be fair, update the app should make more sense than a printed activity sheet

Not everyone uses the app some in fact claim they put their phone in safe and others don’t have smartphones

As a frequent Celebrity cruiser, I was happy to see than at least on the Sun Princess showers now have glass doors and comfortable looking extra seating in all of the balcony cabins.  A beautiful young woman stretched out with a breakfast tray on the bed may look chic but in reality having room service setting on the bed was dumb.  The cabins were so small there was not room for the little table and it ended up in the closet. One had to book a mini suite to have a place to set.  Speaking of closets, the new glassed in one may be a little small but I never liked looking into a pile of shoes walking into the cabin so I like the new design and a bigger desk.  I didn't realize that there were not take away cups for coffee in the buffet or steps into the pool but both of these things exist on other lines. All this said we are trying the reserve mini suite with premium plus next year on a royal class ship so I think Princess is trying to compete and willing to make changes to do so.  I hate the smoking casino also and I love to gamble almost daily on Celebrity but will stay away on Princess.

My Princess wish list would include:

Bring back chocolates on pillow at night.

Bring back Ceramics at Sea.

Return to the old International Cafe selection with more options like daily soup and small salads.
Spa port day specials - where did they go?
Special daily ice cream options - bring back Rum Raisin.

Make the soufflés great again - no more dry empty shells.
Upgrade tea service to be as nice on all

ships as it is on the ones out of Southampton - real clotted cream and real tea sandwiches.
Bring back Pub Lunch.
More hot breakfast items on room service menu.
Breast Cancer walks - I always participated and appreciated them so much!

Upgrade production shows to more Broadway style like NCL.
Honor Elite Wifi discount on pricing of packages.
Extend MDR breakfast hours to 10 a.m.

Maybe don't think of ti as a surcharge to pick your cabin so much as a discount to NOT pick your own cabin...

I travel exclusively with my teenage son and I would have got the Plus/Premium package for our upcoming Alaskan cruise this summer for myself; however, I cannot justify it for him which is required since we are sharing the same room  Essentially, Princess is losing money here with how the packages are required for the first two people in a stateroom.

Pub lunch never went away it is served in the MDR now. It has been that way on my last 5 cruises. Much better no more long lines down the corridor

Good to know - we have not seen it on our cruises for awhile but maybe I’m looking in the wrong place since it’s part of MDR lunch service now.

I agree with you on some of these for myself and kudos for coming up with such a great list.
BTW, the pub lunch is back, it’s just in the MDR now because it is extremely popular.  Ceramics at Sea would be fun but at least they do have crafts nearly every sea day.  I particularly liked the napkin folding, the skull masks and the paper flowers.
I just wish they’d bring back the chicken tacos on the room service menu.  They could feed me cheaply for nearly every meal.

I agree that I don’t like the cabin selection so much now with the nonrefundable deposits if you choose your own cabin unless it is not in the lead in category.  Who thinks to make it all this complicated?
I also missing putting a hold on a cabin until my CVP can book it for me.  I had a problem with a promo showing recently but a day later, they pulled it.  What a mess.  I learned that because I have a lot of cruises booked, they don’t feel it necessary to give me a promo code.  Sorry, that’s just not right!  I am pretty much over it (not fully .. 🤣)  but it’s too bad that I am not offered the perks and benefits just because they know they already have me hooked.
The things I love about cruising, I absolutely love .. so that beats out any negatives.

It used to be normal to pick your own cabin, & a discount if you booked a guaranty; still is on other lines. Now, it’s definitely a surcharge, if you can even book a specific room.

Definitely true, but it’s always going to be easier to keep the online schedule up to date than reprint the activity sheet if there are changes to times or venues.

The same goes for airline or train schedules, movie theaters etc.

I do miss that so I try to book early.  I need a specific type of cabin .. I know, I know .. I don’t really need it but I like it like it more when I can pick exactly which way the bed faces.  It’s a sleep thing for me.  So, if I can’t sleep well, why bother to book?  I hope that test fails miserably!

Oh, I thought of another one!

Remember warm cookies and milk in the afternoons? They used to have a couple of crew heading through buffet and pool area serving them up. The milk was poured from a tank carried like a backpack and was cold and fresh with the warm cookies.

Bring that back!!!

There are still spa port day specials. You may not be getting the flyers advertising them in your cabin though. They usually have them posted at the spa.

I definitely would like breakfast in the MDR to be offered later than 9:00! Unless I’m on a port intensive cruise with lots of full day tours, I usually only go on the day I’m leaving the ship.

I would like to see packages available that have choices that can be mixed and matched. Maybe if you don't want 15 drinks in a day as some days especially those where you may be on an excursion most of the day you'd have to be an alcoholic to down that many between late afternoon and bed time. Also one part of the package is two gym sessions, personally I have never been to a gym in my life and don't intend to start at 74. I know that it will be pointed out to me that Princess informs the customer of what a package costs and entails and you have a choice as to whether to take one out or not.

I don’t think we’ll ever see the return of old style fixed dining with assignments to shared tables. The number of people who eat in the MDR every night is too small to make that practical.

We’ve been able to get the same private table for our party for the whole cruise about 90% of the time if we ask once onboard

Until this forthcoming cruise we have always gone for second sitting 8.30 p.m. as we like being seated with the same people each night as we have made many friends over the years. I don't know if all Princess ships are anytime dining now, but P&O still have some ships that do first and second sitting. Mainly their older ships which quite frankly are getting past it.

All Princess ships are anytime dining. If you meet people on board you can ask to be seated together

I don't eat pork or beef so would like to have a protein option available in the MDR for breakfast rather than just eggs.  And I love potatoes but can’t justify it to my physician why I would eat those triangle tater tots.  I’ve stopped going to the breakfast for that reason.  And yes, 9:00 AM is so early to wrap it up.  I now order the chicken noodle soup in my cabin .. it’s always so different but it’s usually really good.  Just a nice light warm breakfast to start my day.

I really don’t appreciate being called an alcoholic. Some of use don’t go to bed until 1:00 am we have plenty of time for cocktails. I am 73 and yes I go to gyms. Packages are what they are   I don’t get a discount from Medicare if I don’t go to a doctor one month
