My wish list for Princess

Hear Hear!  You said it.
I think most of the slamming is because people leave their balcony door open while at sea and the cabin door slams .. but no matter what, some are just clueless.

We just "love" the midnight to 6:00 am door slammers!!!  🥺😡🤬

I agree with the staff exposure issue, except for the "indentured servants" part.

What we have found is a good number of the crew and even officers also smoke.  So, I guess it doesn’t bother some of them.
I know smokers have paid for their cruises as well, so I respect they have a habit that might be very hard to kick.  But, providing a space outside should be sufficient.  Whenever I go into the casino, the machines I love to play are mostly in the smoking section.  Now, there are a lot of people that just stand over there to smoke, whereas they are supposed to be actively playing.
We used to get a break from it on formal nights (way back when) but not even that anymore.  😞

I would absolutely agree to once per day cabin service.  We’re very neat and organized and perfectly capable of taking care of ourselves.  The stewards have so much to do in so little time.

Exactly!  We always tell them they can take the evening off from our cabin and we definitely let them know if we are in a B2B in the same cabin, they can just skip us.
We leave a mess for our steward and they’ve even told us that skipping our cabin only saves them like 1 minute in the evenings.  The turn around day one though, they are always so appreciative of that.

If cruise lines want to provide indoor spaces for smoking, it makes no sense for it to be the casino. If I were a smoker, I wouldn't want to have to gamble to be able to smoke inside. If the goal is to give smokers an indoor place to smoke, it shouldn't be the casino. Allowing smoking in the casino forces smokers to gamble and deters non-smokers from gambling. I just don't understand why the two are linked. I am sure if they separated the spaces, smokers would still gamble if they were inclined to gamble, meanwhile, non-smokers would likely gamble much more.

I would be incredibly disappointed if they removed evening turn-down service... it is one of the reasons I don't sail with NCL anymore (by no means the ONLY reason). Maybe some sort of opt out available like Celebrity has? That way, if you don't need/want it, they won't have to dedicate the resources. The could even offer a reduction in daily service charges for people who opt out?

I agree with everyone who says that getting rid of smoking in the casinos would only encourage me to gamble more, so maybe it would be better for me if they kept it! I do love the lack of smoking in the casinos on Celebrity....

I wouldn’t even reduce my gratuities as I know the entire fleet benefits from that.  But we certainly don’t need to evening service.  Just stock the bathroom with towels, tissues and TP .. I could probably go a few days with no service.  We did it in Vegas during the height of the pandemic and we rather liked it.

Celebrity has done it for years and the casinos are filled every night.  Smokers go outside to very comfortable smoking areas.  I do not appreciate indoor smoking venues.  The smoke always drifts out and into the public areas.

They need to bring you patters and other paperwork on the evening shift   The patters can change a lot from the app as things are always changing including venue times

I would agree to this on an "opt in" basis.  For those of us who almost always sail as a group of 3 or 4 in a cabin, the evening service to convert the cabin into the sleeping arrangements we paid for is not a luxury. It is a necessity.  I don't think that the "cabin-to-bedroom" conversion should be self-service.

Please bring back the Lotus Spa Eucalyptus Lotion, Shampoo, and Conditioner.  Even if you have to leave those horrid dispensers in the showers at least fill them with the original Lotus Spa Shampoo and Conditioner. 6 Lotus Spa Princess Cruises Eucalyptus Shampoo Conditioner Lotion 2 ...

Since this is a wish list, I'm going to wish that there was a way, other than me having to be MacGyver, to turn off that dang automatic light in the closet that is so freaking bright in the middle of the night.

I wish the Island Princess had an International Cafe like the Coral Princess.

I wish that printed drinks menus were still available without having to ask for one at every bar you go to and that all bars on a single ship made the same drinks at any bar you went to.  In other words, if I wanted a "Take 5" at the Crown Grill Bar on the Enchanted I could get it there and not just in the "Take 5 Jazz Club".

I wish traditional set dining was an option when making a booking instead of having to deal with the Dine My Way app - I know, shocker but some of us like TD and don't like the DMW app.

While we're wishing, I wish they would retrofit all of their tiny showers with doors instead of curtains the way MSC has done on several of their older ships that used to have curtains:

Probably my biggest gripe about Princess is the shower curtains. I mean, they were still putting shower curtains in bathrooms on ships built in 2022?!?! Everyone else got rid of shower curtains eons ago!

New Arcade - what were they thinking?  I would have been happy if they had used the space to install slots machines....NO SMOKING AREA.  It would have generated more money than the arcade.

I have seen people smoking in the casino without gambling since is is allowed.  I have never seen anyone removed from the casino for smoking and not playing.

AND I support the "bring back formal night no smoking in the casino".

I smoked for over 50 years and only notice it when near smokers. I try to avoid the smoking side when I can. I am very glad they have been changing out the Churchills area to arcades. Sometimes when that door opens a huge raft of smoke pours out. I am on the Ruby in a few weeks and see if it is better

The BTW, Princess just sent me a survey asking me about the premier package not a few minutes ago.  One of the questions was whether or not specialty dining should be unlimited.  While I’m not sure that is possible, it raises the concern about the # of specialty dining on longer cruises.
There was only one small space for comments and that is where I entered they should have more casual dining options, especially on the Crown class ships and a lunch option would be most appreciated.  If they cannot do that, perhaps being able to order the pizza and / or sushi option should be included.

I think that could be a potential safety issue.  Can't have folks missing emergency announcements.

I would like to have a home screen notice or chime when I receive a message via the App.

I think the OP was referring to having a volume button, so that they could hear general announcements, instead of

having to go open your door to hear them?  IDK, now I’m not sure!  🤣

@ldubs, in hindsight my comment was quite condescending.

I apologize to the Cruise Critic community.

Upon reflection, I think your intent was really in support of those customer facing folks who make our trips so wonderful.  I probably shouldn't have mentioned it.

That is exactly what they meant.  Like a lot of things, it zoomed right by me until @Cruise Raider clarified.

I would like to see the "formal" night dress suggestions replaced with something like Celebrity's chic night.

Does anyone want the return of the old fixed dining options?  I'm kind of on the fence.   When traveling just the two of us, we wouldn't use them.  When traveling with the family group, the fixed dining was very convenient.

The Churchills / Arcade area are not very large on most ships and some are not near the casino like on the Coral

The Grand Princess has their casino on the same floor...just outside the "Arcade".  The Caribbean has a random slot near Club Fusion on Deck 7...far far away from the casino.

They could have turned the cigar lounge into a smoking room and make the casino smoke free.  That would have appeased everyone.

If Princess is going to send out surveys, why won't they send one our about smoking?

So, my three wish list items:

Turn down the volume

Smoke free casino

Suite Escort on Embarkation Day (this has only happened to me once!)

I always try to hold my door so it doesn't slam shut. It's called being respectful.

Please bring back Churchills and make that the only place you can smoke. I try to avoid the casino because of the smoke and it's very annoying where they let the people smoke on deck. One they don't always smoke in the right area and then you can't control the wind.

I’ve read that Sun has a fixed time dining room & another dining room for anytime…sounds like a great idea to me! 👍
