My wish list for Princess

Recommended Posts

I am oftentimes coming up with suggestions for Princess to consider or reconsider .. I would like to hear yours if they are reasonable.

I would like to see a small rack for paper recyclables in the cabins.

I would like to see those ships that don’t have an Ocean Terrace or Alfredo’s/Gigi’s pizzeria offer complimentary pizza and sushi delivery via the app if already included in your plus or premier package.

This suggestion belongs to someone else but sounds reasonable.  If a cruise is over 13 days, the specialty dining and casual dining perks should reflect the number of formal nights.  I would even go so far as to say if your cruise is under 5 nights, maybe that should be limited to one vs two specialty dining options .. just to keep it reasonable.

I would like to see the option for no lanyard and no medallion clasp be offered when ordering your medallion online.  We have so many of them already.  It wouldn’t save them a lot but every little bit helps.

I would like to see a notification pop up on your app when someone on the other end of crew chat notifies you.

I would like to see nonsmoking nights return in the casino.

I would like to see all shipboard deck plans available on the new app as they were on the old app.  Even if they had them available in the future cruise sales office, that would be so helpful when picking out a cabin on a different ship.

I would like to see a volume button in the cabins to hear the announcements over the PA.

I would like to see all cabins equipped with both USB-A and USB-C ports near the bedside.

Oh .. there are so many more, many of which wouldn’t save Princess money but some of which would be too costly or impossible to enforce.

I really wouldn’t mind once a day room steward service in our cabin .. that one may not be popular with others, though.

What are some of your reasonable suggestions?

How about cabin doors that don't slam shut!

I understand that they slam closed as a fire safety issue.  It would be easy to place a warning on the back of the door instructing folks to not allow the door to slam closed.  One of our most annoying things when we cruise!

I’d like a volume control for the Piazza on some ships!  Wouldn’t cost anything.

A lot of great ideas, BTW.

Most importantly, give us an App without all the bugs.  Now the new App has issues, as well as the website for many.  Maybe hire a new IT team?  (No, that would cost money) 💰 JMO

I will go one farther. I would like the area to be non-smoking period. And I don't gamble but end up walking through the area and it reeks of smoke even when empty.

I think it was time 20 years ago! That is when my city passed a law and we were behind the times compared to other cities. What a huge difference that made. It is time, Princess.

In Canada, you basically cannot smoke anywhere outside of your own property.  The casinos do offer an outdoor area that is small and basic with no way to avoid the wind, rain and cold.  Not at all pleasant.  And yet, the casinos are filled to the rafters.  We sail predominantly with Celebrity and I’m always disappointed that on our Princess cruises we can’t use the casino.  It is time!

I agree completely but currently Princess is saving me a ton of money by still allowing smoking in the casinos.

I will not drop one penny in there as long as it's smoking.

The smoking area is why we still bring masks on cruises. If we want to use a slot in that area it makes the smoke reasonable unless someone is sitting right next to me

Connecticut is home to two of the largest casino resorts in the world, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods.  Both converted to be completely non-smoking on the casino floors with designated outdoor and fully enclosed smoking areas available for guests who wish to smoke. Neither resort is suffering because of it.

In California some years ago a ballot initiative proposed that indoor smoking be banned in all restaurants and bars.  Bar owners, in particular, did not like this idea citing a loss of future business.  The argument made by those in favor of the initiative was that the employees of these establishments were being subjected to a health risk.

The initiative passed convincingly, and smoking was banned in bars and restaurants.  Of course, the complaints about loss of business only grew louder.

However, one year after the law went into effect, health tests on bar employees showed an marked improvement when compared similar tests performed prior to the banning of smoking.  The conclusion was unescapable.  Workers in a smoke-free environment were healthier.  There has been no effort to change the law since the announcement of that study.

I am pretty sure that Princess (or whoever runs the shipboard casinos) do not particularly care about the health of their indentured servants.  So, the only thing that will create change would be if casino revenues fall because enough people like @Lady Arwen and @tonit964 boycott the casino.  I can assure you that the XBGuys are doing their part.

Yes, but your hair and clothes still reek from that awful smell!  I would have to do laundry everyday.  Nope, better to stay away.

I think that could be a potential safety issue.  Can't have folks missing emergency announcements.

I would like to have a home screen notice or chime when I receive a message via the App.

I agree with the staff exposure issue, except for the "indentured servants" part.

I smoked for over 50 years and only notice it when near smokers. I try to avoid the smoking side when I can. I am very glad they have been changing out the Churchills area to arcades. Sometimes when that door opens a huge raft of smoke pours out. I am on the Ruby in a few weeks and see if it is better

Oh man, that Churchill room was horrible.   I'm also an ex-smoker, but even way back when I did smoke, I wouldn't go inside that place.  I don't begrudge someone lighting up, but would be a supporter of eliminating smoking inside.

I actually meant so I could turn it up so I don’t have to stick my head in the hallway to hear the announcement.  The emergencies would come through as normal.

Hear Hear!  You said it.
I think most of the slamming is because people leave their balcony door open while at sea and the cabin door slams .. but no matter what, some are just clueless.

I’m a big fan of the app but we cruise in a couple of days and dang, if I couldn’t get my app to print out my luggage tags.  It also showed me as blue lane after being in green lane for quite a while.  Now, I’m magically back to the green lane.  It is quirky at times!

100%!  Celebrity has done it and their casinos are successful.  We even tend to spend time in the Park MGM in Vegas since it is now all nonsmoking!

I would absolutely agree to once per day cabin service.  We’re very neat and organized and perfectly capable of taking care of ourselves.  The stewards have so much to do in so little time.

I would be incredibly disappointed if they removed evening turn-down service... it is one of the reasons I don't sail with NCL anymore (by no means the ONLY reason). Maybe some sort of opt out available like Celebrity has? That way, if you don't need/want it, they won't have to dedicate the resources. The could even offer a reduction in daily service charges for people who opt out?

I agree with everyone who says that getting rid of smoking in the casinos would only encourage me to gamble more, so maybe it would be better for me if they kept it! I do love the lack of smoking in the casinos on Celebrity....
