Hi,

I've enjoyed your postings. We will be on the Spirit May 30th, and I have several questions I am hoping you can answer.

1. If you happened to have any onboard credit, did you notice if it could be used for the tips?

2. Do the balcony dividers open?

Thank you very much,

Gale

Gumballz, sure why not? BTW, I will pm you later. Trying to get things done before the Nor'easter strikes tomorrow. Fred, thanks for all the great posts. Hope you both have an enjoyable last day and are packing lots of special memories to take off the ship with you.

Molly! :D I might talk to DH about switching our dates when he gets home from work. Would love to cruise with you guys. I wanted to cruise over Super Bowl Sunday to get out of the kitchen and actually SEE a game, but what the heck. ;)

I'll make you a deal, you and DH can join us in January and then come to Montana to watch the Super Bowl! I'll make meatballs, linguisa bread, shrimp cocktails, some veggie and meat & cheese trays. You won't even have to go to the kitchen (except maybe to refill your Carnival souvier glass:D )

Fred, I agree with Gumballz, you and Wendy need to sail with us in January too! WELCOME HOME and thanks for taking us along.

Molly, wow, thanks for the invitation. How am I gonna pass that up? I loved San Diego too...I am thinking of a plan....maybe go on the Spirit 1/9, stay over in San Diego for a few weeks, trek out to Montana for your Super Bowl party, then we can catch a flight home to NJ. I can't WAIT to tell my office! :D

Hi Gale, we are back home !!! Unpacking and getting the house opened up.

I got 2 more days of Posting I have to add now that Im home so I will answer these questions as I go.

You can use your OBC anyway you like when it comes to paying your overall bill which includes your tips. I saw people in line last night doing that at the Pursers Desk.

On the Spirit Class ship, They can only have 25 Balcony Partitions open, so hurry to the Pursers Desk and get that done when you board the ship. Its first come first served.

The beach photo looks like Playa Tecolote north of La Paz

Thats the Beach !!! Thanks I couldn't remember the name of this awesome beach in La Paz, Playa Tecolote :)

You can tell from the Aroma of the food cooking in the shack you can tell it was going to be really good but we had only 35 minutes to spend here at the beach and we wanted to get back to the ship. The Historical City Tour took 4 hours and that pretty much drained us fast.

GTVcruiser were you able to eat here at the beach? We are thinking about going to La Paz for a week, we loved the town and folks there.

Day 6 At Sea:

We got up this morning around 9am and had our breakfast, again they served the hashbrowns which are way better then the old hockey tater tots. We took a walk, I went to the Pursers Deck and asked for a Deck of Playing cards, the rep told me they no longer hand them out here, the Card room is open and there should be a deck of cards up there where Carnival Vacation Club office used to be.

For Lunch we had the RIBS !! Very tasty and also the Fish & Chips, the menu has changed alot since they added the Alternative Menu which is great. Wendy had the Spinish riotta ravioli and the Lemon Mousse for dessert. Wendy said that the Spinish riotta ravioli wasn't as good as before, it seem to be dry.

Well Wendy was the Champ today when it came to the Casino, she won over 150.00 and I won 50.00 so we are now even with the Casino and won't be going back. Wendy hit 3 Bonus Rounds on the Party Jackpot slot machine, one of her favorites.

We didn't go to Formal Dinner, the menu didn't look too good, no lobster or filet mignon, instead we wanted to try out the buffet on Lido deck This will be our first time trying out the buffet on lido deck for dinner. We pretty much stayed inside all day because it was pretty windy out. I went around and took pictures around the ship. Conditions today were alittle rough, Temp was 68 degress with choppy seas. Its almost 6pm and we are still rocking and rolling. The wind is 22 knots from the NW so the ship is going at a rate of 17 knots and going against the wind.

Cruise Director Ryan told us in the begining of the show last night that the Spirit was having motor pod problems and that we would arrive San Diego a day later. Everyone was clapping including myself but then he said it was a joke and everything is find and on schedule, we all then said BOOO lol. We got our Past Guest Pins in our cabin and our invitations, Wendy won't be going but I will.

Day 7 Last Day At Sea

We got up around 9am and went up to lido for breakfast, I had my 2 over medium, hashbrowns some bacon and 3 hotcakes and O.J. This is the first we seen O.J. After we walked around, checked out the shops and then headed to the Theater for Bingo and then the Disembarkation Debrief in the Theater.

Lunch on Lido:

After we headed up to Lido for lunch and took pictures of the Chocolate Buffet. Yes they had one onboard Spirit Today. We went back to our cabins to wait till the mad rush in lido thinned out abit. We made it to Lunch on Lido it was still crowded at 1:30pm so we just stood in line and it the line went pretty fast. We had Ribs, Fried Chicken with creamy mashed potatos and assorted veggies, Wendy had the Virginia something Ham and a salad. We then headed to the Shops and then to our cabin for a break, We saw Night at the Museum with Ben Stiller on T.V., fun movie.

Supper Club:

For Dinner we headed up to Nouveau Supper Club, I got to tell you right now, out of the Valors Scarletts and the Prides Davids, the Nouveau Supper Club onboard the Spirt blows them all away. The Food and especially the Service was out of this world. Since I had a big lunch at 1:30pm by 6:45pm I wasn't really hungry so I had alittle of everything that came out like the small treats they serve you in the begining, We both had the Shrimp Cocktail, with was 4 large shrimps, that alone was a meal. The Surf and Turf was what I ordered. The Lobster was around 6oz but it was the most tastiest I have ever had and the Filet Mignon was so tender and juicy, I was in heaven. The potions were just right because I wasn't at all that hungry. You really need to just have a snack for lunch if you're going to book Supper Club later that evening. Wendy had the Lobster, wow they served her 2 Lobsters on top of each other, as I stared at Wendy and I could tell she wasn't on this planet. I told the waitress that I couldn't eat any more and she told me that I could take the cheese cake down to my cabin and have it later, that's exactly what I did. Wendys dessert was the Chocolate one that includes the 3 chocolate desserts on a very nice glass plate, each dessert in its own holder or bowl. The arrangements and the whole experience was totally amazing, I only wish I had more room for all the little extras they would come out with.

Our Supper Club appointment was for 6:30pm and we were out of there by 7:50pm

At 8:15pm we headed down to the Dining Room to say good bye to our tablemates and to also exchange emails since we took pictures of one of our tablemates during the Capts Party. We also handed out extra tips to our awesome waiter Andri and his assistant Vlad. Once again we got lucky with out tablemates.

Cabin Doors:

Someone had asked me if the cabin doors were made out of metal so that they can use magnets. I can tell you that on the 8th floor Panorama they are not, I got a Post Card Magnet of the Spirit and I tried to stick it to the door and it did not work. So make sure you bring some type of tape with you.

Last day Store sale Items:

The Blue Carnival Photo albums were on sale for $5.00 on the last day, normally they are 16.95.

Cons about this Cruise:

We had a large amounts of kids onboard on this Easter break, the younger kids behaved very well, it was to Club O2 kids, the teenagers that were the problem on this cruise. This is all I'm going to say about this.

Overall Expectation:

The Spirit in general by far exceeded my expectations, she is a great looking ship, the Capt and Crew kept the Spirit alive and well.

Tomorrow, San Diego and we are home once again. A great cruise. We had a great time, lots of fun, Depending on how we feel later this year we might book a cruise on the Elation out of San Diego not sure when. We have the Freedom booked for April 5th 2008 out of Miami, thats going to be a great cruise.

Roll Call info:

Our Roll Call group was one of the best, We couldn't meet at our second meet on Friday because there were alot of lounge chairs on Lido Aft blocking our meeting area. So if anyone plans on meeting with their roll call group a second time while on their cruise, if it isn't a balcony party then I would recommend meeting by the Atrium Bar.

Internet Cafe:

250 + 20 Free Minutes went very fast, not sure how since I wrote my reviews on Wordpad and posted immediately and then logged off. Last year on the Pride I was able to post for 6 days with only 100 minutes. So as you can see there was a problem with this ships Internet System. I don't recommend getting an Internet account. Just write your review every night and post it when you get home.

Water Bottles:

We took onboard 2 large bottles of Fiji water and no one said anything to us at the Terminal. We also took at 6 pack of the smaller Fiji water bottles with us and it lasted us the whole cruise. We are down to one small bottle. Seems to me that the Port of San Diego is friendly when it comes to bringing non-alcholic beverages onboard. The onboard water on Lido Deck was also very good.

Balcony Partition Doors:

I got the final information on the Balcony Partition Doors, On the Spirit Class ship, they can only open 25 partition doors. Thats it, so its first come first served. The rep at the Pursers Desk showed me a grid of 25 cabins that they mark to indicate 25 cabins have these doors open for the week. Not sure why not more then 25 partitions? It could be some type of maritime law or something. I will start a new thread on this because this is a topic that comes up alot.
