I met a Javier who was a Sous Chef. He's from Phiily. Wonder if this Javier is the same??? Great personality!

I was under the happy impression that Captain Pagonis is the Captain of the Reflection. Is this not the case

 

They will share the rotation, starting with Captain Pagonis till about the end of the year. Captain Bouzakis is on Equinox now, will go on holidays and then take over in Dec. (leeway of 31 days..) We'll be onboard Reflection a month from today so I will try to post when I have a more definite date.

Just read where the executive chef on Reflection is Steve van der Merwe.

 

From an old celebrity "Excite the Senses" news release:

 

Chef Steve van der Merwe joined Celebrity

Cruises in 2008, and has become one of the

fleet’s top chefs as Traveling Executive Chef.

Chef van der Merwe is a key member of the

team responsible for culinary operations across

Celebrity’s fleet, and has been instrumental in

overseeing the program on Celebrity’s

Solstice Class ships.

Where did you read that he would stay with the ship?

I believe then that we will be onboard together.

 

Further clarification from a recent cruiser:

 

captain Pagonis will be on the reflection until some time in January - he was supposed to leave December 15, when we are boarding ..., but because captain Jerry left they asked him to extend until mid-January I believe - I heard this about a month ago from a fellow cruiser who knows him

What an excellent chef and a delightful person as well. I had the fortune of meeting Mr. van der Merwe this year on the Millennium. I must say the food on the cruise was the best I had had on Celebrity in six years. I complimented him on the presentation and quality of the food - he was very gracious and amiable. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have him as part of their cruise experience will feel very lucky indeed - not to mention having a delectable dining experience. Kudos to him and his staff!

Anyone know where Bryan Cooper is these days?....another great guy. He was Guest Relations manager on the Equinox and Eclipse

 

Speaking of GR managers - anyone know where is Simona ( can't rememeber her last name ) last we sailed with her on Connie - Xmas - NY , 2008. Then, she was going on Equinox. Great lady!.
