JMARINER Posted February 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2009 I did not see this posted before, so I hope it is not a duplicate. Here is a link for the full text of the Florida AG offices agreement with Regent for refund of fuel surcharges signed 2 weeks ago. http://myfloridalegal.com/webfiles.nsf/WF/MRAY-7NXM78/$file/ClassicCruisesAVC.pdf j
Travelcat2 Posted February 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Wow -- a lawsuit. Would you you mind telling me the bottom line so I don't have to read the whole thing? Will Regent send a check or continue to do what it's been doing (giving on board credit in the amount of the fuel charge)? Lazy Travelcat;)

esther e Posted February 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Hope this helps: Oceania Cruises Fuel Charge Refunds For Oceania Cruises, the settlement agreement applies to reservations that were already made as of November 12, 2007 for any 2008 sailing or 2008-2009 Winter Collection sailing. How will refunds be processed: For guests who have already sailed, refunds will be processed back to the credit card on file in the reservation. If the credit card information is no longer in the system, a check will be issued. For guests who have not sailed, a shipboard credit will be issued in the amount of the fuel supplement charge that was assessed on the reservation. When can guests expect to receive their refunds? We expect to have all credit cards refunded and/or checks issued in the next 90 days.
esther e Posted February 6, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Sorry. Wrong cruise line. However, I assume both lines will operate the same way.
jina Posted February 6, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 6, 2009 does this apply to all passengers, or only Florida residents? I only read through the first few pages and it kept talking about "Florida consumers".
Ngaire Posted February 6, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2009 I heard today that Regent is doing the same thing and refunding the fuel tax surcharges.
Portolan Posted February 6, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 6, 2009 is that it applies to all RSSC customers, not just Florida. While not a lawyer, I'd like to believe that in the absence of a limiting clause (i.e., it reads "with respect to consumers who...," not "with respect to Florida consumers who..."), this should apply to everybody. Except, unfortunately us! We booked two cruises with Regent that fell within the fule surcharge "era" and the more expensive was booked in December 2007 (after the cutoff for this action) and also had the unfortunate claim to being the last cruise on which they collected fuel surcharges (which ended 1 Jan 2009) since we sailed 29 Dec 2008! At least we should get a refund for our cruise last summer.
Rare macbest Posted February 6, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 6, 2009 FYI on board, they give you ship board credit and it was one of the few credits that you can actually get the credit back in cash
jina Posted February 6, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 6, 2009 wow - is there anything we need to do to get the credit (request process) or would we just expect to see it appear magically on our credit card statement?
ROLLTIDE2 Posted April 28, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 28, 2009 On Friday, my husband received a check from Regent refunding the fuel surcharge. I have not yet received a similar refund check. Has anyone else gotten a check?

Wendy The Wanderer Posted April 28, 2009 #13 Share Posted April 28, 2009 I'm still waiting for mine. I've heard that they may intend to refund some on their credit cards, so I'm watching for that too.
petlover Posted April 28, 2009 #14 Share Posted April 28, 2009 We received a check on Friday.....I just assumed as a married couple/same last name and same booking # we receive one check?? So you're saying that each person gets a check?
DaveFr Posted April 28, 2009 #15 Share Posted April 28, 2009 I received a check on Friday too. It was made out to me but it covered the fuel surcharge refund for my wife and me. Dave

Wendy The Wanderer Posted April 28, 2009 #18 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Yes, no doubt our cheque will be made out in my husband's name, since they insist on using his name for most things, despite the fact that I book all the cruises, and usually my credit card pays for them. Goofyisme Posted April 28, 2009 #19 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Recieved our check today for the full amount. Didn't have to do anything except let Regent do the right thing as they normally do.

Travelcat2 Posted April 29, 2009 #22 Share Posted April 29, 2009 We received a check a couple of days ago. However, it does not match up with anything we paid for Fuel Surcharges. Suggest you verify that what you receive is the amount you are due!
ridolphi Posted April 29, 2009 #23 Share Posted April 29, 2009 We received a check on Monday that was the exact amount of fuel surcharge we paid on our May 2008 B2B for both of us. Was hoping our 2007 Grand crossing had a refund coming also, but from the way it was worded above, doesn't look like it. Oh well, glad we got what we did. (Hey ROLLTIDE2 - "Roll Tide", go BAMA!) NCCruzQueen Posted April 30, 2009 #24 Share Posted April 30, 2009 I am single and traveled with another single on the Navigator Discovery Collection this past fall. She was passenger one on the invoice. She seems to have gotten the check for both of us. Wendy, don't you just want to shake your head at our sexist society? I booked an Alaskan cruise for my fellow and me for September 09. This is his first cruise and I have sailed over 200 nights on Regent. Even though I booked the cruise and paid on my credit card, they put his name first on the booking form.
Kwaj girl Posted April 30, 2009 #25 Share Posted April 30, 2009 ...what was the fuel surcharge per passenger per day? Was it $15?
