Regent Fuel Surcharge Refund FYI

Wow -- a lawsuit. Would you you mind telling me the bottom line so I don't have to read the whole thing? Will Regent send a check or continue to do what it's been doing (giving on board credit in the amount of the fuel charge)?

Hope this helps:

Oceania Cruises Fuel Charge Refunds

  • For Oceania Cruises, the settlement agreement applies to reservations that were already made as of November 12, 2007 for any 2008 sailing or 2008-2009 Winter Collection sailing.

How will refunds be processed:

  • For guests who have already sailed, refunds will be processed back to the credit card on file in the reservation. If the credit card information is no longer in the system, a check will be issued.

  • For guests who have not sailed, a shipboard credit will be issued in the amount of the fuel supplement charge that was assessed on the reservation.

When can guests expect to receive their refunds?

  • We expect to have all credit cards refunded and/or checks issued in the next 90 days.

is that it applies to all RSSC customers, not just Florida. While not a lawyer, I'd like to believe that in the absence of a limiting clause (i.e., it reads "with respect to consumers who...," not "with respect to Florida consumers who..."), this should apply to everybody. Except, unfortunately us! We booked two cruises with Regent that fell within the fule surcharge "era" and the more expensive was booked in December 2007 (after the cutoff for this action) and also had the unfortunate claim to being the last cruise on which they collected fuel surcharges (which ended 1 Jan 2009) since we sailed 29 Dec 2008! At least we should get a refund for our cruise last summer.

We received a check on Monday that was the exact amount of fuel surcharge we paid on our May 2008 B2B for both of us.

Was hoping our 2007 Grand crossing had a refund coming also, but from the way it was worded above, doesn't look like it. Oh well, glad we got what we did.

I am single and traveled with another single on the Navigator Discovery Collection this past fall. She was passenger one on the invoice. She seems to have gotten the check for both of us.

Wendy, don't you just want to shake your head at our sexist society? I booked an Alaskan cruise for my fellow and me for September 09. This is his first cruise and I have sailed over 200 nights on Regent. Even though I booked the cruise and paid on my credit card, they put his name first on the booking form.
