B2B Question - Turn Around Day

Recommended Posts

Doing b2b’s on Oasis and just wondering if Oasis offersshore excursions on turnaround day? YES,I am well aware that we can do stuff on our own, been there done that manytimes, just wondering if the ship offers things for b2b passengers, to make itsimple and easy?

Not Oasis specifically, but I've never seen disembark day excursions tailored to B2B passengers -- all have them have ended at whatever the local major airport was. Which is great if you're flying out that day, but not so great if you're returning to the ship. You may get a happier answer asking while aboard though, because the excursion desk people will have a better idea of things like whether the bus is sticking around to an embarkation shuttle or if it's going back to the barn after.

If they are offered, they will be in your Cruise Planner under "excursions" on the last day (turnaround day) of Cruise #1.

Not a excursion for B2B's as such, but on our trans-pacific in 2014, on turnaround day in Honolulu, our party booked the ship's excursion of city tour, Pearl Harbour & airport drop-off.

When we got to Pearl Harbour we spoke to the driver & told him we would not be going to airport with him. When we finished at Pearl Harbour, we spoke with him, collected our hand luggage from the bus, and then took a taxi back into the city & eventually back to ship. Worked well for us.

Appreciate the feedback. Looking at three options:

a) stay on Oasis and enjoy the ship and, for a little while, fewer people on board.

b) go to Cape Canaveral for 4-5 hours

c) spend part of the day at Cocoa Beach

By the time you walk off and walk back on (they usually do that with b2bers) it's not too long before people start boarding. Last time we cruised (GR) we did what we usually do and went to the MDR to find our table so we weren't standing in line waiting to be shown later and the b2b cruisers were having lunch. That was around noon. We're doing a b2b on Oasis in October and plan to just stay onboard and find a quiet spot to read while everyone is running around looking at the ship and unpacking. Solarium is usually very quiet the first few hours after boarding.

A few years ago, we did a B2B on Freedom, out of Port Canaveral. They offered several excursions for B2Bers, and we went to Kennedy Space Center.

We had looked into this excursion specifically before the cruise and the information we got was that the only way was with an airport drop-off. We didn't want to have to pay to get back to the ship separately. Didn't think to ask once we were on board the ship about B2B excursions. Did you book on board for this?

We just got off an Oasis B2B (June 18 & June 25). I didn't not see any special excursions tailored to back-to-backers. Just FYI on how it all went down for us.

We met at 10AM in the Schooner Bar, waited in the comfy plush chairs there for about 20 minutes, were walked off and through immigration, then ended up sitting a bit longer in a special section of the lounge area (with refreshments). All in all, about an hour and 15 minutes. As we re-embarked, new arrivals were coming on the ship right behind us.

HOWEVER, half of my family were allowed to disappear back into their cabins and get some more shuteye in peace. I walked around the ship a bit until 11:30AM, when Giovanni's opened for the B2B'ers (I believe the time for regular guests was noon, though I may be mistaken).

The gratis Giovanni's lunch was MUCH appreciated! I didn't even catch the offer until my second read-through of the "consecutive cruisers" info sheet. I think a lot of other people missed it too because I only saw two other B2B'ers there.

Anyway, though some people always arrive ready to head straight to the pools, the pool deck was nowhere near as crowded as during the actual cruises and I took advantage of that to be the only person in the lazy river for awhile -- the ONLY pool on the ship (besides Solarium) cooler than bathtub temp. It was fabulous without kids.

Not an answer to the OP's questions, but for me a fun and relaxing B2B "mini-excursion."

We did a B2B for the first time in Nov/Dec on Freedom. I didn't see any excursions for the B2B folks. There were 86 of us. We were told to meet at a bar at 9 am. At 10, they said things were running late. They stopped debarkation 3 times due to capacity in the terminal. They finally took us off to customs around noon. We then got a steak lunch in the MDR.

On our B2B turnaround day RCCL we just wanted to go back to our cabin. They would NOT allow us to do that until it was time to board the new arrivals.

Is that still the case?

We did a B2B Caribbean cruise on the Jewel, 2 April and 9 April out of San Juan. We were allowed to go back to our cabin as soon as we finished the B2B procedures. This has been our experience on all of our B2B cruises. We didn't spend much time in the cabin. My wife wanted to change and I forgot my hat.

Thanks! Good to know that's the way it is now. :)

We needed some things from our cabin and it was a big inconvenience to being able to get to them.

Another question please: No bar or pools were open when allowed back on the ship after the turnaround thing (sort of a ghost ship) until the folks were boarding. Has this also changed?

The pools (main and solarium) were open. We didn't use them. I didn't notice if any of the bars were open. We took advantage of the ship being nearly empty to take pictures/videos. Sat in the DL for awhile before going to the B2B lunch in the MDR. Like always limited menu but good. Also free wine during the lunch. Nice touch.

We did B2B on Oasis last December (2016). We didn't get disembarked until 10 and we just walked off and back onto ship (20 minutes total).

So, if you are planning to do an excursion in between, you should get off with the regular disembarkation. To enjoy Kennedy Space Center fully, you almost need a whole day.

We might enjoy that. Was that something you looked for while on-board, or did you get a special list of options as a B2B cruiser? This will be our first B2b.

Those would normally be offered on board.

We just came off B2B on Oasis. We met in one of the bars, Schooners at 930 with passports and sea pass cards. Neither of which was even looked at. We were asked if we had been sick during the week or any health issues. Everyone was issued new sea pass cards. Then we were escorted to the check in area around 1015. We were called first to board. Back on board at 1045. Lunch at Giovanni was at 1130. It was great. They did tell us earlier in the week, if you want to get off the ship, please go to both guest services and the excursions desk. Because they will have to make other arrangements for you. Have a great time. We loved it
