weluvrpups Posted September 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2014 I have been given a rate of $125 each way MIA to port of Miami from Padrino Limo for an SUV ride. Should I bother getting rates for other town cars/SUV services like Larry's, Carey, etc., or will I find $125 is about average? (4 passengers) Thanks. aurelius180 Posted September 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) I've never hired a private car for MIA to the POM but the going rate for FLL to downtown MIA for a sedan is about $85-90 which includes tip. I would check other places. The going rate for a cab is a flat fee $24+tip each way... Edited September 25, 2014 by aurelius180
CruiserBruce Posted September 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2014 As the fixed rate is $24 for a taxi, the worst you will pay is $48 if you have to split into two taxis because you have so much luggage. Not sure why you want to spend $75 more for a limo...
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2014 That price is fairly typical for a SUV in Miami. Keith

JohninDC Posted September 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 25, 2014 SUV and minivan cabs can handle all 4 (even if some in your group pack like my wife :o) for $24+tip; no way I would spend $125!

weluvrpups Posted September 26, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted September 26, 2014 Thanks all, good to hear the taxi rate too. I pay $100 for MCO to Port Canaveral (private driver) and it feels worth it. But MIA to port of Miami seems like a shorter distance even though this company gets good reviews. I appreciate all the good suggestions and time taken to post. Have a great weekend.

SugarQueen Posted September 29, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 29, 2014 I have been using Quality Limo service for anything in the FLL or MIA area to get to either port. They have been very dependable. Usually $85-90 for private vehicle and $45-50 of shared shuttle. I have the shared shuttle be private or shared with 2-4 other stops. Never crowded, always on-time, usually friendly. I'm using them again Saturday MIA to Port of Miami!!!! Can't wait!!!! Mel

Beach in FLL is just as nice and comparable hotels are cheaper than you'll find in Miami Beach, but the nightlife and dining and people watching in South Beach (the Miami you see in the movies and TV shows) are hard to beat. If you stay in the FLL area there are lots of options to get to POM - easy solution is a shared shuttle to POM for about $15 each for the 40-45 minute trip - check with SAS (http://www.ridesas.com), QLS, MJS, Go Airport and others. They can also get you from POM back to FLL after your cruise. If you go to SB a shuttle or cab are your best options; taxi from FLL to South Beach will run about $75 and from SB to POM a taxi will run about $15+ Good luck! :)
cruisecritiquer Posted October 2, 2014 #20 Share Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) Funny, I just asked for a price quote from them today. The vehicle we would recommend for this service is the SUV, but we also haveStretch Limousines available at a slightly higher rate. The following are the rates for both types of vehicles, hopefully one of these will be what you are looking for, and we will be your service of choice for October 24th, and in the future in the Miami area. The all inclusive rate for the 6 passenger SUV from MIA, arriving on a Domestic Flight, going to Downtown Miami is $135.00, but with the Internet Discount your total is $120.00. The all inclusive rate for the 8 passenger Stretch Limousine from MIA, arriving on a Domestic Flight, going to Downtown Miami is $175.00, but with the Internet Discount your total is $150.00. Attached is a Reservation / Credit Card Authorization Form, if you would like to make these reservations, please if it out and return it to us with all of the required copies. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns, or if we can assist you with anything else. Thank you, Padrino Limousine Service I was going to book it until I read this thread. Yes, I can get a taxi for $25.00 and I'm thinking about that. But, I get where others who prefer private car service are coming from. It's more convenient to be met at baggage claim, escorted to our car and then whisked away to the hotel rather than having to lug all of our stuff to the taxi stand and wait around. We will have 4 large pieces of luggage, 4 carry ons, and some random other things. Edited October 2, 2014 by cruisecritiquer
weluvrpups Posted November 2, 2014 Author #21 Share Posted November 2, 2014 I used John's car service it was less than that from POM to MIAI think it was about $80 including the tip There were 6 of us Return update: I decided to use John's Car Service and I'd use them again in a heartbeat. It was more expensive than a taxi or mass shuttle, yes, but less expensive than the big limo/towncar companies. We missed a flight connection and ended up coming in at 1 am and John made sure we were picked up promptly with excellent communication. Coming back from the port he was less than 5 minutes away when we disembarked and got us back to the airport quickly and safely in his SUV. My daughter left an unimportant item in his car and I had forgotten all about it until it showed up in my mailbox today and I hadn't even known that's where we left it. Now that's great service. I liked that tip was included in the quote. My only surprise was that I gave him a credit card number and I assumed he'd charge the trip to that but he preferred cash - the card was just to hold the reservation. So there was confusion on that but I had cash so it wasn't a big deal. Here's his info for anyone else, I highly recommend him. johnscarservice@bellsouth.net 954-303-8747 (cell)
