Happy HALidays!

I gotta be honest. Holland America's Gala nights make the whole carol writing thing easier than Celebrity's "Evening Chic."

Other than "Le Freak" by Chic, there's not a lot with which to work. Fear not! We're on it!

May I humbly present, "Deck the HAL"

Deck the halls on your HAL cruise line...

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Formal nights, they used to be fine...

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Now the market research's finding...

Fa la la, la la la, la la la.

That those ties are harsh and binding.

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

So we've done away with Formal...

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Gala nights are our new normal!

Ga la la la la, la la la la.

Follow me and wear some khakis...

Ga la la la la, la la la la.

Lose the dress, and lose the jackets!

Ga la la la la, la la la la.

So away the dress code passes...

Ga la la la la, la la la la.

Hail the new, ye lads and lasses,

Ga la la la la, la la la la.

Sing we joyous, all together,

Ga la la la la, la la la la.

Don our robes and thongs of leather!

Ga la la la la, la la la la.

Gala - la -la!

No. I'm waiting for a whole songbook.

"We Three Drunks on Oosterdam are.." (We Three Kings)

"Where is my restroom Amsterdam?" (God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen)

"Pinnacle, O Pinnacle" (Hanukkah, O Hanukkah )

"Winter Wonderland" has potential, but I'm drawing a blank

"Santa Claus is coming to Town" is wardrobe gold.

The "12 Days of Christmas" always has potential,

"Deck the Halls" is "The Alarm, report to Deck 3..."

Whatever it is, rest assured we have people* working on it.

*Not our Best People. They're ashamed to be within a mile** of here.

**Nautical, not statute.

Let us all gather 'round and sing!

Away on a Cruise Ship*

Away on a cruise ship,

where I make my bed -

I do not just un-pack,

my stuff is outspread...

The bars and the lounges,

are where I can play,

And when I get hungry,

I hit the buffet...

The people around me,

they moan and they b!tch...

"This formal attire...

it's making me itch."

I bid them to fear not,

for help's on the way...

'Cause there's a new dress code

and it is Ga-lay.**

They rip off their dress clothes.

They sing

and they dance...

But they're kinda angry,

They want their short pants...

They've dressed their whole work life.

They're angry.

They're owed.

But now they are happy...

They've killed the dress code!

**Yeah, I know. It stretches the rhyme, but if you sing it out loud, you'll find that it works.

*Apologies to Martin Luther, J.E. Clark, and C. H. Gabriel.

In the words of my man, Tiny Tim: God Bless Us, Everyone!

PERFECT...

It expresses my disdain with the new dress code... However, you need to include ball caps to make it complete...

:D

Inspiring! It almost writes itself.

Apologies to Benjamin Hanby & Gene Autry.

(To the tune of "Up on the House Top")

Up on My Noggin

Up on my noggin sits a cap,

It's got a logo. The bill's turned back.

I'm gonna wear it. I'm the boss!

It looks so cool, and it hides hair loss.

Ho, ho, ho! I'm gonna go.

Ho, ho, ho! I'm gonna go.

Down through the hallway - It's not far.

It's Gala Night in the M-D-R!

Up in the Lido, used to feed.

Suit and tie? I have no need.

When on vacation, it's a drag.

Those fancy clothes weigh down my bag.

Ho, ho, ho! I'm gonna go.

Ho, ho, ho! I'm gonna go.

Down through the hallway - It's not far.

It's Gala Night in the M-D-R!

Khakis and collar, are all okay.

Hey MDR, I'm on the way.

Got me lobster fin-al-ly!

These Gala Nights, they're made for me.

Ho, ho, ho! I'm gonna go.

Ho, ho, ho! I'm gonna go.

Casual me, it's such a treat

Gala Night lobster, I can eat!

And one more this morning for good measure.

CRUISING SHIPS to the tune of Jingle Bells

Sailing ore the sea, on a brand new Holland liner

Over the blue we go, nothing could be finer.

Meals we will not miss, at our waistbands we will tug

What fun it is to eat all day, oh dear our pants are snug.

Cruising ships, cruising ships, cruising all the way!

O what fun it is to sail a Holland ship today. Hey!

Cruising ships, cruising ships, cruising all the way!

O what fun it is to sail a Holland ship today.

A year or two ago on a cruise ship took a ride

The weather it was great with hubby by my side.

The ship was sleek and new, on the balcony we did sit

He got into the swing of things, the cruise bug had bit.

Cruising ships, cruising ships, cruising all the way!

O what fun it is to sail a Holland ship today. Hey!

Cruising ships, cruising ships, cruising all the way!

O what fun it is to sail a Holland ship today.

And now my life is grand, as when it begins to snow

Our tickets in our hands, a cruising we will go.

We’re spoiled that is true, our vacation it is bright

We’ve found the way to go, at sea we’ll sleep tonight.

Oh, Cruising ships, cruising ships, cruising all the way!

O what fun it is to sail a Holland ship today. Hey!

Cruising ships, cruising ships, cruising all the way!

O what fun it is to sail a Holland ship today.
