If you want to be in Old San Juan try the Sheraton. Convenient to many great restaurants, shops, and a short walk to both forts. There is a pool on the roof, but no beach.

If you are looking for beach, I second the Marriott Stellar is.

We stay at Embassy Suites Isla Verde or Hampton Inn Isla Verde. Both have a secured area to store luggage. Both have a nightly mangers cocktail reception. Both have a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Both are conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants and stores.

whats the best hotel to stay at it would be helpful if they can hold our luggage til check in since we probably get in early. it is for 1 night.

Hola,

Depending on when you'll be cruising & which hotel in SJ, keep in mind the possible traffic issues getting to Pier. There is only one way into both Pan American or Old San Juan Pier so if there's something going on in Old San Juan that day, it can cause heavy traffic. Especially at the roundabout to Pan Am. Pier.

Give yourself enough time - would suggest going in the morning. We usually head out at least by 11 a.m.

"Best" is different things to many people... do you want to be right in Old San Juan so that you can leave your luggage and site see both the day before and morning of your cruise right out your front door? Or do you want to be very far from Old San Juan in a more modern "resort" type hotel with a pool and so forth? The above responses are an approximate split of both and will be dependent on what you want to do. Also, are you looking for more luxury/expensive or do you want budget/medium cost?

IF you are eligible for a US government rate you cannot beat the Ritz Carlton. It's a bit pricey at full price but if you are eligible for a government rate it is a great deal. We even got a government rate during Christmas week a few years ago.

We're staying at the Hyatt House near the Convention Center. Anyone know what transportation options are available to make the 5 minute trip from hotel to the cruise port?

Taxis should be very easy.

Hi,

Not sure which cruise port you're going to - Pan American or Old San Juan. Depends on which cruise line. But either way, you pretty much have to taxi to either Port. The P.A. Pier maybe looks close from Hyatt but it's really a long walk in.

RC does their initial embarkation cruises at the Pan American Pier. Day stops are usually at an OSJ pier.

Thanks for the information. We're going out on the Adventure OTS on 18 March. I intended to use a taxi to the P. A. terminal but thought I'd ask those that had been there before to make sure a taxi was the best option.
