Bringing extra wine

I see that I can bring more than 2 bottles of wine for a charge of $15 each. But how do you bring it on? Say I wanted to bring on a case of 12. How do they charge me? My on-board account? And do I just bring the bottle to dinner with us and have them pop the cork and serve it? How does one carry a bottle of wine (or two ;p) to the main dining room without looking tacky :')??

If you want to bring a case you can check it. You will be called to visit a location to open the case and pay the corkage. You can also just wheel it on in a wine carrier or extra carry case. You pay for the extra bottles at a table by security. Yes, payment is charged to your on board account. Paid bottles are marked and can be brought to the DR and served without issue. Unfinished bottles can be stored for the next meal.

Bring your two bottles of wine to the MDR in a plain brown paper bag. (y):wine-glass: No one will care if you look tacky. :) See threads on Dress Codes.

Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

This is what I use...even when bringing a bottle to a friends house.

I don't mind carrying a bottle of wine with me to dinner. On the Celebrity board, someone thought doing so was "schlepping" a bottle of wine to dinner. If somehow you don't get charge for the wine at the security, you'll usually get charged by your assistant waiter after he or she opens it.

We now drink all our wine on our balcony in late afternoon. It has become a ritual. Back when we brought a bottle to the MDR, we used a single wine carrier similar to the first one posted. The second wine carrier posted is quite fancy indeed. When we take wine to a friend's house we purchase a decorative wine bag from the wine store that can be discarded.

I carry my wine on board in a six bottle cloth carrier bag. I have multiple, so for a longer cruise I can carry more if desired. If the table is set up they record how many I have in addition to the 2 without corkage. They then want to put labels on the bottles. I generally just ask for the labels as I have not yet decided which bottles will be for in room use. When I carry a bottle to the DR I just put one of the labels on it. If the table is not set up, I carry the wine on board and pay corkage at the time the wine is opened in the DR.

We've only started, in the last few cruises, to bring a few extra bottles on board over and above our two "free" bottles. In our admittedly limited experience, we've probably only been charged the corkage fee in the restaurants about half the time, the other times the waiter didn't bother or forgot to charge us. Great idea about asking for the stickers and applying them yourselves, we'll have to remember to do that in future.

Regarding the stickers, this is what I did in March. Just put on a sticker before dinner ( or lunch[emoji1]). I took my wine everywhere on the ship...to crooners, the casino, the lounges. No issues, I would usually just ask for a clean glass wherever we ended up. The waiters in crooners did it automatically for me!

Every location we went to with a bottle with the sticker the staff was more than helpful bringing glasses and opening the bottle. This Included the theater (brought desert wines to the late shows).

We actually LIKE Beringer White Zinfandel.  Not available on the new wine menu.  Tried the three new zinfandels (lowest is $34 plus gratuity) and only the top one was barely acceptable at $43 plus gratuity.  We carried one bottle of Dom (from Total Wine, $154) and one of Beringer (from Publix, $6) onboard for the last cruise.  Paid corkage on Dom, although waiter only wrote it up because I asked him to.  By the way, if you add an additional gratuity onto a wine purchase in dining room it just goes into the pool, not to your waiter.

Next time will carry all dinner wine onboard.  For Beringer it will cost $6 plus $15 corkage, assuming they charge us.  Figure $21/bottle for something we like versus $43 for something we didn't like.  Will be way ahead by carrying on our own wine.

How many bottles of wine per person can you bring aboard?

Normally one per person without paying corkage unless you take it to the MDR. We brought 36 bottles on for the last cruise. All were checked as luggage and paid the corkage on 34 of the bottles when billed.
