Maybe wasn't clear in my question was asking about 1385 a JS. I have been in the Promenade rooms only, loved them. First time right over a Pub singing and noise to one or two I believe. Listened to Sweet Caroline a million times. It was a bit much but still fun and part of a great cruise. Also a story to tell everyone. Hope this clears up my question. Thanks again.

It is an easy drive, you would probably be there in less than 2 hours. I think parking is $19 a day.

 

Also, have you posted on your roll call, might be a group doing a bus or large limo.

If I remember correctly you will have to prearrange for transportation at Bayonne. Might I suggest going to the East Coast Departure board where some very kind and knowledgeable folks are ready to answer your Bayonne and NYC questions.

Cabs can be arranged at the pier. Just follow the signs for taxis, cabs and limousines. The workers will help you arrange a cab ride. You can get a private cab, a shuttle van or limousine.

there are cabs, vans and shuttles....the dispatchers will get you moving along...if there's a group going to the same place at the same time they will stick you all in one vehicle...

 

there's also a shuttle to the airport...i think it's 17 bucks per person....

We made arrangments in advance with a company called Independant Driver - very reasonable. Charged $10pp to take us back to the hotel where our car was parked (near the airport). He was very timely and flexible (toward the end of the trip we found out we wouldn't debark until around 12n vs. the 10:30 we had scheduled) and rescheduled us with no problems at all:D

First of all, let me say that I absolutely LOVE this thread...

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the mystery dinner, and if it's really worth doing? Is it really popular, or should I have no problem reserving on board? I also hear the Richard Spacey is the cruise director? Is this true?! I love him! He was the cruise director on my first RC cruise...ah memories. I have only been on the Oasis, but I have cruised with Disney a lot...do you think I will be disappointed with the size? I know boarding starts at 2, but would anyone suggest an optimal arrival time to get on with ease? I do get priority boarding, if it matters...

Hi

 

The RCI website says that Explorers arrival back at Cape Liberty scheduled for Friday, 1/27 will be delayed one day arriving on Saturday, 1/28 and departing that same day for a cruise to be shortened by one day. Does anyone have any more info. on this?

For recent cruisers: I think I read the movie theatre was not working last week...is it back up and running? What are the movies currently playing on the TV and movie theatre? I like to download some movies for the trip and do not want to rent anything that I can view on the TV. Thanks

 

I just got off the EOS today and the movie theater was not working, they offered for you to watch the movies in the conference room. Some of the movies playing were Thor, Green Lantern, however the next day they were playing on the TV. Enjoy, we had a great time,

You will love the JS--haven't stayed in that cabin no. but they are all nice. We stayed in one on The VOS our Europe trip, then went back to a balc for the Panama Canal. Now we are splurging on a JS on the Ex 5/10/12 cruise.

I've recently started to check out various places on the Explorer in preparation for our June sailing. I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the Island Grill is open on embarkation day? From what I can tell from the deck plans, it looks like an extension to the WJ but I really don't know. Just trying to have an alternative lunch option in case the WJ is really crowded. Does anyone know anything about the Island Grill?

The Island Grill is in the Windjammer. Only other place to get lunch is the Promenade Cafe.

Thanks beachbuddy! So is it a part of the WJ buffet service or a separate type of service, just located w/in the WJ? Hope this is not sounding confusing/stupid--never sailed on Explorer.:o

The island grille is just an extension of the WJ and you won't even know they have different names. It is all the way in the back and is still buffet style.

I have a question that I hope someone can answer. We traveled on Explorer in Dec 11th out of NJ . When we got off we got a Porter and we could not find 1 of our bags. The Porter assured me they would send it when they found it. It is now Feb.

 

I have called the port and send many emails but have not gotten any response. I even took a survey where you list the problem and it asks if you would like someone to contact you.

 

Does anyone have a better email or phone number to call. Thanks so much .

Did you check with Lost and Found before you left the port. On our last cruise in November we were missing 1 bag. We walked over to lost and found and it was there. Evidently, the color tag had fallen off so they didn't know where to put it.

No I did not now about the lost and found is there a way to contact them now. The Porter never mentioned it and I did not know enough to ask. Thanks for the info though I will try that route tomorrow.
