A British Mans First Cruise - Enchantment of the Seas

Recommended Posts

For comparison, I've been on eighteen cruises and I haven't missed a port yet. I was on the same itinerary as another ship (each going in the opposite order of the other ship) and the other ship missed a port and we didn't.

Also, many first timers might not realize that ships do miss ports.

I missed a port on my very first cruise and then had an schedule change two days before a cruise. So it happens.

I'd say, what you've experience isn't the norm. You are definitely in the minority. I've never met anyone who has been on more than a few cruises that hasn't missed one port.

Are they refunding the whole amount of the cruise and $300 OBC? I would take that and enjoy what is left of the cruise. If you are sight seeing after the cruise, you will have some extra money.

There seems to be some conflicting posts on whether or not the passengers are getting a full refund only or a full refund plus OBC.

You have been lucky.

We are about 25 cruises and had changed itineraries a few times before we even left home. Some ports were just dropped or were substituted. We had a new Itinerary made by the Captain on departure day due to bad weather, had ports changed or skipped while at sea, once we were held in Lisbon waters for a day or so while they cut off our broken Stabilizer, on the Navigator, before we could go on. We missed 2 ports but got some compensation. Had a cruise canceled but far enough ahead to change the booking.

Just have to go with the flow and not count on every port booked as one you will see. Sure seems to be the norm when we cruise. Had it happen in the Fall on the Radiance. We missed a port due to staying another night in Perth, to let passengers meet the ship due to the Qantas strike.

Hello PP and Kitty - I hope things are looking up! We are sailing on the Enchantment in June.

We were on the Freedom last summer and had to change from an eastern itinerary to a western one due to a storm that was brewing. We were a little disappointed, but like everyone has said - a day at sea sure beats a day at work!

I hope they get the propeller repaired and you're on your way to warmer weather :)

Thanks for the pictures!

I've been thinking about you and especially your girlfriend. It's good to hear that the cruise has gotten better for you.

Best wishes for fantastic weather.

Hello One and All!

What a difference a day makes. As soon as I posted yesterday things began to get better and better. I started off the day with a gorgeous breakfast of pineapple pancakes in the windjammer. Never had these before and they tasted amazing. We then stopped off for game of bingo, which has grown on me a lot and I now enjoy it :D. The seas started to calm down as the day progressed and thanks to some good advice, i've been munching on green apples to combat the motion sickness. We relaxed a couple hours away in the solarium, where I managed to get into the hot tub for the first time. It was so warm and but me into such a good mood. At dinner out waiter Antonio has been very kind to us, especially to my gf who had been suffering from motion sickness the previous day. I shall reward him later in the cruise. After dinner we went to the casino. For me it was the first time ever inside one and after ten minutes of walking around I hit the beginners blackjack tables. Our enjoyed my time there and came out with more then I went it. Sadly dear gf didn’t have so much luck on slots so with her losses we came out about even ha ha. We caught the cant stop the rock show and it was frankly amazing. The singing and dancing were the perfect end to the day. Last nights sleep was the best ever for me, and if it wasn’t for my gf putting big light on to goto the toilet I would still be there. Weather is gorgeous at the minute and we have calm seas. So I’m going to head to starbucks and get up on deck. I'll report in either tonight or first thing in morning.

Sorry with how negative yesterdays post was. I think hearing the bad news from the captain first thing in the morning and having to cheer up my gf, put me in a bad mood. Sorry if I bummed any of you out with it. Things are getting better as many of you said they would, and im having a hell of a time now :D

Take Care,

I hope you get a chance to post pictures of the seas from yesterday. I have always wanted to be on a cruise with those heavy seas. I have been off of Cape Hatteras in a 60' boat in in 10'-12' seas. It would be amazing to be sipping Mojitos in those seas instead of face full's of salt water!

Thank you for your honest post. I know things can go wrong on a cruise. Doesn't mater if its your first cruise; or if you're a seasoned cruiser. Glad the weather is good and thankfully the rest of your trip will go well.

Cheers
