This delay in embarkation of the Veendam which has created unforseen expenses for HAL causes me to wonder: who pays for this? Does the financial responsibility lie with the Shipyard due to not finishing the work on time? Or does this further reduce the financial yield for this cruise? (Which would impact us shareholders of CCL common stock in an admittedly tiny way.)

A very dark day in world history to be sure. I will never forget sailing by the monument to that terrible battle on Turkey's coast when I was aboard the Amsterdam in 2008.

Yes, several cruises are taking people there next year for 100yr services.

But, do not shy away from booking a pre-drydocking cruise.

 

I was on Carnival Miracle just before a drydocking, took the Behind the Scenes Tour, and was fascinated by what I saw and heard as the crew was preparing the ship for her drydocking.
