Rare Vict0riann Posted April 24, 2014 #102 Share Posted April 24, 2014 Sorry, I gotta go - DH is champing at the bit, write everything down that happens! Thanks Chief, have a great time in Hawaii, thanks Lou and Dave, and hasta la vista, all! I hope Veendam is alright!
rkacruiser Posted April 24, 2014 #103 Share Posted April 24, 2014 This delay in embarkation of the Veendam which has created unforseen expenses for HAL causes me to wonder: who pays for this? Does the financial responsibility lie with the Shipyard due to not finishing the work on time? Or does this further reduce the financial yield for this cruise? (Which would impact us shareholders of CCL common stock in an admittedly tiny way.)
Rare erewhon Posted April 24, 2014 #104 Share Posted April 24, 2014 A very dark day in world history to be sure. I will never forget sailing by the monument to that terrible battle on Turkey's coast when I was aboard the Amsterdam in 2008. Yes, several cruises are taking people there next year for 100yr services.

aliaschief Posted April 24, 2014 Author #106 Share Posted April 24, 2014 The day in 1915 when Australian and NZ troops died at Gallipoli - a very foolish assault on the Turks up terrible terrain. As retired military I was very aware of Gallipoli but not aware of term ANZAC. Thanks.
Chelly Posted April 24, 2014 #107 Share Posted April 24, 2014 Just got the following message from Cruisinetta who is waiting to board. Apparantly, she is ship-building while waiting in Terminal: we are still waiting the ship doesn't get here till 630 muster drill is at 915 isn't that wonderful. I have been busy building a ship
Mumsysailor Posted April 24, 2014 #108 Share Posted April 24, 2014 Great close up of the Veendam on Hyatt NE. Is that the boat that called in with engine trouble being helped out in the foreground, I wonder?
Mumsysailor Posted April 24, 2014 #109 Share Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Connie's moving into the channel. Won't be long now. Perhaps her toots will remind Veendam to toot on the way in. Edited April 24, 2014 by Mumsysailor

PathfinderEss Posted April 24, 2014 #111 Share Posted April 24, 2014 Yeah, looks like the sail boat is being brought in by another boat. Nice toot from Connie. A lot of different tone's from her. Very nice Connie. We won't be hearning anything out of the Veendam leaving tonight.

rkacruiser Posted April 24, 2014 #122 Share Posted April 24, 2014 Reminder to self. Never book a post dry dock cruise. But, do not shy away from booking a pre-drydocking cruise. I was on Carnival Miracle just before a drydocking, took the Behind the Scenes Tour, and was fascinated by what I saw and heard as the crew was preparing the ship for her drydocking.
