Dear Santa... A Wish List for the NEW Celebrity Ships

I'm putting in my wish for everything danceable:

- generous sized wood dance floors that are not jammed in between a lounge/ the Guest Relations Area/and a staircase like on the S class ships.

- super, live bands like Twist of Eight on Millie

- DJ's (we only need one of those on each ship) that play requests

- more Big Band music featured by the Celebrity Orchestra

I couldn't agree with you more!! Someone who would put in dance floors that are not wood don't care much about dancers. So, for whom are the non-wood floors designed? On the Solstice I hated the concept of "dancing with the stairs". In addition to dancing with the stairs in the atrium one has to dance around the photographers and their lines - especially on formal nights.

I really miss the acapella groups and string ensembles.

Great idea!

Dear Santa

We were very, very good on our latest cruise so please may we have:

  • Michael's Club adjacent to the Suite Restaurant but, otherwise, no ship-within-a-ship for suite guests. [We cruise with Celebrity because we enjoy the product and have no wish to isolate ourselves. Now, if this was NCL, we would choose the Haven!]

  • More clothes hanging space in PH than current S-class. Less drawer/shelf space if necessary. [Currently M-class PH has too little drawer/shelf space.]

  • A true fridge/freezer in PH similar to on M-class ships [although smaller, if necessary and could replace some of the cupboards].

  • PH to have the great "flow" and the light that the S-class ships have. [The flow is just not as good on the M-class ships].

  • Vanity area separate to the bedroom in the PH [similar to on the M-class ships. I would love to be able to dry my hair in the morning without waking my husband but, on the S-class ships, there is just no power outlet close to a mirror other than in the bedroom.]

  • The S-class PH has no power outlet near the breakfast bar and no desk area. It needs somewhere to work/charge electronics similar to the desk on the M-class ships.

I want "Modern luxury", not "Family resort". I also want the focus to continue being on adults, not children. I want a cruise vacation that is as devoid of screaming kids, including parents that won't control them.

Adult only ships, which include ( in order of preference)

Faster reliable internet.

Bathrooms similar to S class, but with hanging space included.

Storage similar to M Class ( ie NO ABOVE THE BED STORAGE, an impossibility for shorter people )

Rendezvous lounge ( dancing in the Atrium is no go)

Music levels that are not boomingly loud.

T pool

Laundry room.

Lawn at Sea, but Hot Glass Show replaced by out door restaurant.

More Select Dining space- phase out early and late sittings (late is far too late)

Hello,

My posting from another thread:

I would like two things:

1 X to remember one of the new ships may appear this side of the pond and as our weather is not the same as the caribbean to design an 'open deck' that's fit to use in bad weather;

2 To turn a deck inside out - see deck 8 of Norwegian Breakaway, bars and restaurants front onto the sea not an atrium/centrum.

Regards,

Cublet

PS: If you are going to put another specialty/premium restaurant on board, how about one we have heard of in Europe.

I agree with the "ironing room".

More adult only venues that are enforced.

Clotheslines on S Ships

Footstools for all veranda cabins

Promenade deck for sure

Dueling pianos

Dance Club starting a little earlier

More Phones to call cabins - Easier to stay in touch

Upbeat Caribbean music at sailaway

Tables for two not so close together

Healthier snacks, carrots, celery at bars

1) A real Sports Bar, perhaps ESPN could sponsor it.

2) Wrap around Promenade deck (many have suggested this)

3) Seems Basketball courts are never used, try something else for this upper deck area.

4) Expanded Spa Area..think the new Princess ships

5) Redesign The Buffet Area. I want to see something truly innovative in this arena.

I also hope and wish for a nice prommenade deck- I was surprised how many miss that on S- Class. On Zuiderdam two month ago I so enjoyed the wrapround prommenade deck- real DECK as in WOOD- FLOOR- GREAT VIEWS OUT TO THE SEA ! THAT is ship feeling.

I just read that in some new builts the idea is to get back to the more conept of more connection with the environment in which the ships sail in- the SEA!

Very good idea!

Yes yes yes!

sea, sun, and stars.... more about sealife, birds, navigation maps, viewing scopes on outside decks, telescopes etc....

Hope Celebrity Official is forwarding ideas to the designers!

My wish list (based on other wish lists presented here):

NO water slides of any kind (there are plenty of other cruise lines to go to if that is what you want)

NO outdoor movie screen, ever (there are plenty of other cruise lines to go to if that is what you want)

NO self service laundry rooms to have to pass by and ignore (there are plenty of other cruise lines to go to if that is what you want)

NO chain restaurants (there are plenty of other cruise lines to go to if that is what you want)

I want "Modern luxury", not "Family resort". I also want the focus to continue being on adults, not children. I want a cruise vacation that is as devoid of screaming kids, including parents that won't control them, as possible.

Also Yes to these ideas...

One very simple request.....something (perhaps a small sign) at the elevator lobbies and walls between public spaces that tells you which way is forward and which aft.

I'd really appreciate some consistency of where public bathrooms are located so I can find them....and put all the mens rooms on one side of the ship and ladies rooms on the other...consistency is the key word. (yes, I'm getting older).

I think the grass has had it's day, unless it's used as part of the lawn grill type restaurant.

Put controls in the cabins so that if you want to hear PA announcements, you can turn them on in the cabin and not have to prop open the door and lean out.

Agree 110% that the storage over the beds has to go...and so does my 5'0" DW.

Please put in shower doors that don't leak at the bottom (reference to the new aqua shower doors in the m-class aqua cabins).

I'm not sure that anyone mentioned it, but we don't really need a rock climbing wall, a zip line or an ice skating rink on the new ships.

Design the public spaces so that music doesn't bleed from venue to venue...eg. the atrium. Current spaces have no walls so if there is loud music in the martini bar, then it's heard at all the other venues. Loud music venues are fine....just limit the sound bleed.

Provide an easy way for us to connect our ipads/computers to the in room TV's to show pictures/movies/.....

Please design all doors and drawers so they don't open/close as the ship pitches in rougher weather (reference New M-class aqua cabins on 11)

Bring back skeet shooting off the stern (one can only wish...)

I would like to see:

* Adjoining Alcove Doors - like on the S-Class Ships

* Spacious & Bright Bathrooms - like on the S-Class Ships

* Shower Doors - like on the S-Class Ships

* Clothesline in the Bathroom

* More Drawer Storage for the Cabin area

* A bank of Closets - like on the M-Class Ships

* Bigger Night Tables - like on the M-Class Ships

* Balconies big enough so EVERYONE could get the Loungers & Footstools

Cheers!

My vote also.

My first Celebrity cruise is still "booked" and not "sailed" but here is my wish list for a new ship:

- bathroom with shower doors, enough hooks, a clothes line

- self service laundry

- single cabins

- a Promenade deck

- a piano bar

- non smoking in cabins and public areas with the exception of one bar or other venue open for smoking

- indoor pool (heated)

- spa with direct access from indoor pool area

- different bars/venues for relaxing or chatting with other passengers and for dancing/loud music

- a bar or restaurant outside in the aft

- no fun-park at sea, please. If I fell the need for a water slide or similar venues I choose a different cruise line. Keep the "classy" and "modern luxury" concept.

Especially the fact of single cabins being available would definitely make me book more cruises. If they would take the space of 2 double cabins to make 3 single cabins and charge 50% or even 60% single supplement for these I would be happy. And I think for Celebrity this would be a good deal, too. They would make more money with the 3 single cruisers than with the 4 persons in 2 standard cabins.

Love this positive thread!

Some wish list items:

-- A true promenade deck, low down, and without lifeboats blocking the water. (Too many new builds remove the guests from the water. My spouse and I cruise because we like to be at sea; otherwise, we could go to a hotel.)

-- More space devoted to Select Dining (assuming Traditional is even kept)

-- As on, e.g., Silhouette Deck 15, no glass barrier above the railing in the bow obstructing the view or photography

-- More drawers in the cabin

-- Nightstands with drawers (as on M-class)

-- More hooks on the cabin walls

-- Loungers and footstools on all verandas

-- A longer pool

-- Better rake on the main floor of the theatre than there is now

-- Bathroom storage at least as good as on S-class (no complaints there)

-- Retractable clothes line in the bathroom

-- Door on the shower (as in S-class)

-- Electrical outlets near the nightstands

-- An outdoor space on a top deck without light pollution, for star gazing

-- No connecting cabins through the cabin walls, only via the front doors/alcove as on S-class

-- Don't use the atrium foyer as an entertainment space as it's used now on S-class

Things I particularly love:

-- The soaring glass elevators on S-class

-- The banquette seating on the main floor of the M-class theatres

-- The S-class cabin bathrooms

-- The S-class buffet design

--- No lights on the verandas

-- The strict (no)smoking policy

Things I would not welcome:

-- Zip lines, water slides, rock walls and similar gimmicks, theme parks at sea

-- Fewer complimentary dining options

-- A big movie screen on the pool deck

I agree on the Sports Bar. But please no sponsorships.

Sailing on the Summit during division round playoffs and with Michaels closed off to us it would be nice if we could have a place where everyone could get together around a big screen,

I agree with the single most suggested request: a promenade deck, that allows for a larger walking space around the ship, for those of us that would like to walk in the fresh air for exercise.

2). More seating, especially for two in the Oceanview cafe.

3). Slightly smaller, more affordable suites in the 300 sq ft range...

4). Keep the a Lawn Grill, but expand and improve the menu

5). Expand the suite class concept beyond just a restaurant and Michaels club to justify the higher suite fares.

6). More focus on premium food venues, if you want to compete in the premium market as Mr Bayley stated, you have to compete more effectively in the food area. Currently the other " premium " cruiselines like Oceania, Seabourn etc offer exponentially better food than Celebrity.

I'm excited to see what Celebrity has in mind for the new ships.

Here are my random musings:

I'd like to see a revised theater production. The Off-Broadway song and dance thing is a little tired. They may or may not impact the structural design of the theater area.

I like the Molecular bar and would love to see it placed somewhere with a bit more ambiance.

The Lawn Club grill was very enjoyable. They should continue the outdoor dining theme, even if the lawn goes away.

I agree with other comments that the tables in the MDR could be better spaced. Even thought verdict is still out on RCCL's dynamic dining, I like the idea of splitting the MDR into smaller venues.

I like the previous suggestion of a restaurant that serves local fare. (Seafood in Alaska, Caribbean, Mediterranean, etc). We eat most of our meals on the ship, so it's a great idea to bring part of the local culture onboard.

In this digital age, I think the library could be smaller and the "Game On" could be larger.

Bathrooms in the Reflection Sky Suite were perfect.

The Two70 concept on the Quantum looks amazing and fits the culture of Celebrity.

Overall, I enjoyed the Reflection and trust Celebrity to continue to iterate on their Modern Luxury theme with the Edge class.

Provide an easy way for us to connect our ipads/computers to the in room TV's to show pictures/movies/.....

Simply connect to the HDMI port 3, and turn your TV to channel 3 (semi hidden channel) and you can connect any device to the TV.

I have tried this in multiple cabins, and it has worked both times so far.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

On the NCL Epic, there is a central two floor area with a very large screen. Anyone that has sailed the Epic knows what I'm talking about. It's located by a bar and a restaurant and near the casino. It is used to play Wii during the day, movies are shown periodically. big sports events are displayed here. It works well as a multi-purpose space.

While I think the ambiance is far from "Modern Luxury", I do think the layout works well for a lot of different types of venues (bars, restaurants, bowling alley, comedy club, casino, etc.) in close proximity to each other while segregating it from other public areas that are not "loud" areas as well as from decks with staterooms.

If Celebrity is trying to reach out to more types of cruisers with disposable income, this is a start in the right direction.

SANTA... I have been exceptionally good this year. I even have two future cruises booked (with Celebrity).

Here is a short list of my hopes for what I'd like to see on the new ships:

1) a "third bank" of elevators and stairs. Don't make the mistake of the Epic and have too few sets of elevators wich cause long waits.

2) Bring back a venue to house a night club/dance floor. The two story venue on Adventure of the Seas comes to mind. Wood floors would be awesome for two-stepping and line dancing!

3) An expanded spa/gym area connected to the "adults only" area as well as an expanded tranquility room (with enforcement of rules).

4) Having sailed twice in the Haven on 2 different NCL ships, I'd really like to see the "suite experience" on Celebrity get closer to NCL. Improved butler service, improved pre-cruise concierge access, close proximity of all suite benefits (lounge, restaurant, sun deck with loungers, etc).

5) Suites at all levels that feel more luxurious. Add an in-room coffee/espresso machine that can also do double duty for those tea drinkers.

6) Better/faster internet with ability to connect via a cable in the staterooms.

7) Outlets available in the bathroom. More outlet locations in the cabin.

8) Seating in theatre using concept of banquet seating on M-Class ships.

9) Introduce interactive touch screens around the ship for passengers to explore the ship, look up information, check vacancy on dining venues and make dinner reservations, book excursions, see local news/weather back home. Put them at all elevators on all decks. Nobody likes to stand in line.

10) Maintain or improve on the non-smoking policy you have. I'd love to see 100% non-smoking. Celebrity... Here is your chance to be first in something.

Here is my list of what I don't want to see.

1) DON'T go smaller on balconies to get larger rooms. It didn't work on Princess or NCL.

2) DON'T add more "fee" restaurants and take away from the complimentary ones. In fact, figure out what you need to do to improve the overall quality and service in the complimentary venues and we all will thank you.

3) DON'T continue trends of reduced options and quality in restaurants and bars.

THANK YOU

Family Suites of some sort - i would like to see rooms/suites that are focused on practicality Something that is the size/cost of 2 regular balcony cabins but has a layout of 2 sleeping rooms, one bathroom, shared living space and a double balcony with 4 loungers. No suite amenities necessary.

More drawers/shelves and less hanging storage. I end up having to hang up pants and things that don't need to be held.

Less Bars but more interesting bars. I like the sports bar idea. I think people love the martini bar and maybe molecular bar. It just seems to me that there are a number of bar spaces that are very empty most of the day/night. I would prefer less venues but more interesting ones (piano, sports, etc) that would draw crowds/groups.

Reiteration of:

More outlets/plugs

Better internet

More storage

Dear Santa,

Please, please, don't put rooms under treadmills and better insulate all rooms.

A piano bar would be a dream. Cole Porter, Gershwin, ahhhhh.

As others have wished, nightstands with drawers and plugs.

A third set of elevators if at all possible.

Thank you for listening.

I would love to have a laundry service that does not shrink clothes. Use of cooler water and low heat clothes dryers. I don't really want a self service laundry, but I would like the clothes to be handled much more like we handle them at home. This probably requires equipment different from that used for the linens and towels.
