Abraham-Hicks group on Solstice Oct 21, 2015

I was just reviewing some shore excursions for this cruise and noticed certain excursions were for Abraham-Hicks and I googled to find out that this is a large group on our cruise. We had no idea and since this is a B2B and airfare is already paid for, we are concerned.

Has anyone had this kind of experience prior with a large group such as this? I am very disappointed and a possibility we can still cancel before final payment.

Suggestions?

A lot depends on the size of the group. If it's under 300, there shouldn't be much of an impact, but anything larger can be a pain. They tend to take over public rooms for their meetings and parties, so you might not have access to those rooms. I did take a look at this group and all I can say is WOW. It sounds like one of these new age groups that talk about channeling and other things. I mean, the name of their cruise is Vortex of Attraction, whatever that means. Their teachers are called Abraham, and they describe themselves as "a group of consciousness from the non-physical dimension", again whatever that means.

This could be an interesting cruise for you.

Yes, I looked them up, also. WOW is right :(. I have a message into my TA because this is not something we planned on. I would rather fly into Sydney and spend additional time in OZ prior to going on the 2nd cruise to NZ where I see no problems. I always wondered why this cruise was Sold Out so early. Yuck!

I am sure it will be ok.

I have been on cruises where half of the cruise was a "group" and all was fine. A few venues were closed for a few hours here and there to accommodate the group but was not a big deal to us.

We have also been part of "one of those groups" when my husband won a cruise through work for a sales contest. Areas roped off for us now and again. etc. I am assuming our group did not impact others vacation as we were never "flamed" on cruise critic...:)

Who knows...maybe you will learn something new:D;)

I would not worry. ;) More than likely, the group will be small in comparison to the number of cruisers on the ship. We have been on cruises with Amway reps, religious groups, insurance agents, travel agents, etc. and never really knew they were there unless we saw one or two with a name tag.

The Abraham Hicks group had a similar group on Eclipse last September when I travelled on the 14 nights Azores and Canaries cruise. I experienced no issues and all that was noticeable was their use of the theatre on one (maybe) two sea days for a limited period. That really made no difference on a warm weather cruise. Others experiences may differ so perhaps look for reviews of that Cruise from Sept 2014.

Sounds like a good plan if you can arrange it...groups on board differ but if this one has its own excursions, they may have other priority events on Board .,....we prefer not to sail with large groups of any kind...in many cases, they stay with each other, take over certain areas...and sometimes get more attention from staff than "outsiders"

Whatever you decide, have fun!

QUOTE=portofinoitaly;47274844]Final payment is in about a week from today. My TA is researching how many etc will be on this cruise. Hope it is a small group and no impact. I will wait TA input.

Suggest you google them and click on info about the group, videos and past cruise reviews...then you'll have a better idea of what to decide!

Link above may be helpful, if it works,,,.,

My husband and I were just on the Solstice beginning of July and the Abraham Hicks group was on there. They didn't impact my cruise. We ended up sitting with a group of them for lunch one day. Nice people. We saw groups of them walking around. Really didn't bother us in the least.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think it will be a small group from what I have read on another website. We will stick with it and looking forward to this cruise and the NZ one on Nov.2nd. We are in Aqua for Blu on 1st cruise and a Sky suite on 2nd cruise so should not be greatly impacted. Whew!!

We found corporate groups can be the worst, depending on the industry. Most of our group experience was when we sailed Regent.

One group was Land Rover Dealers and another was an investment industry company. Both groups consisted of pretty well-off folks who were pleasant and good company. Then we took a Caribbean cruise with a bunch of bankers. We understood this to be an awards cruise for top performing branch people, which means folks who were not used to five star treatment, especially with free booze for a week. We ended up with tables of loud, cursing, drunken women (let's face it, most branch people are still female) in the usually refined Compass Rose dining room. These folks were not used to an open bar 24/7 for a week and overdid it. They were even tipsy as they tendered in for shore excursions. I'm sure their bosses were not used to seeing some of these branch managers in this situation, which is why I always hated office parties and awards junkets...a great opportunity to embarrass yourself in front of the boss. Fortunately, I was never one of the folks who hit on the boss' wife or upchucked on his patent leathers during the formal dinner.

I do have to say that, despite the free-flowing libations on Regent, this was the only time I can recall seeing anyone outwardly drunk.

We were on the Celebrity Solstice Alaskan cruise July 3-10 and the Abraham-Hicks group was on this cruise with us... I think there were several hundred of them. Someone told me that excursions sold out because of that group... I did see that some excursions were only for the group. I had pre-booked our excursions online months prior to sailing so we were happy. We were in Aqua Class and dined in Blu and I didn't really notice them there. They seemed like a nice bunch of people..

Celebrity has had a couple of classic groups over the years, the most talked about being American Girl dolls cruise. If you do a search it is sad but funny. Short synopsis, how would you like to go to various venues, theater, buffet, etc and not be able to find a seat because it was taken up by a doll.

The other group I would have loved to have seen happen just for Celebrity's response. There was a born again group of a couple hundred who got on the ship and tried to shut down all the bars and the Casino. They were quickly put down by the ship's personnel.
