I second that tip! For our 3 week cruise I used the shampoo for all my hand washing! And a tiny drop of conditioner does great as a softener.

Hearing about the Unlimited Laundry Service and have already booked for our Med cruise in May next year. Have also booked a lido cabana, never knew about them until reading about them on CC.

Oh, yes! There is one. You may click her name "Editor Colleen" on the above CC page so that you can view all her posts. she has done photos of many ships. There is one thread showing Eurodam. It is easy to find. Sorry not being able to link you to that thread directly from my phone.

Until I started to follow this forum I had NO idea that you could save so much money by booking your own shore excursions (And get better ones to boot!)

 

I had never heard about the on board laundries (or unlimited laundry packages)

 

Never realized that HAL was one of the last holdouts of the wrap around promenade deck (Important to me)

 

Never realized that the casino/photographer/shore excursion desk was not run by the cruise line.

The most helpful advice that I've received on this forum is the gentle persuasion and, sometimes, brutal honesty and information that I've received from a collection of "old time" cruise critic contributors. Special thanks are extended to Hank, Cruise Chic, Sail7Seas, and RuthC.

I read here to use shower cap HAL provides to cover a small plate of crackers or cookies. I don't like to have uncovered food but like a cracker available if I want one. :)

 

 

Remove wooden hangers from an empty closet if the seas are rough at night. They make an awful noise moving back and forth.

 

On Vista/Signature Class ships, there are large drawers at the foot of (most ?) of the beds. If steward has stored linens in them, just ask and (s)he will remove them if you wish to use those drawers.

 

There is a take one/leave one section in the library. If you have finished a book, you can swap for another to read.

I think that the best thing that I've learned about HAL from CC, which hasn't already been mentioned, is that the selection of pre-order flowers on the HAL website is rubbish.

 

You're much better off waiting until you get on board, going to the front desk, and looking at the actual on-board florist's catalogue. IME there's always been a much wider and better selection, and my impression is that they're no more expensive.

 

The other thing that stands out in my mind is the unlimited laundry. I think I would otherwise have known about it eventually, but taken a long time to realise just what good value it is.
